Chapter 72

Ron could still keep up.

Although Ron was still only a C-rank Nen user when considering his overall abilities, he had a far greater capacity for aura than other Nen users at his rank.

After moving far enough away, they finally slowed down slightly.

"Grandpa Zeno, do you know that person?" Ron asked.

Zeno nodded.

"If I'm not mistaken, that should be the Kute Gang of Thieves."

"A thief group with an S-rank bounty from the Hunter Association. There are four members, and very few people know their real names, so they are usually referred to by codenames."

"They are Old K, Old U, Old T, and Old O."

"All four are very strong."

"They are all A-rank Nen users."

"In a one-on-one battle, I'd win most of the time."

"But killing them is troublesome."

"In a two-on-one, my chances of winning are much lower."

"The one from earlier should be Old O."

"He's a Transmutation-type Nen user, with the main ability being magma flames."

"Old T is a Conjuration-type Nen user, and his main ability is to conjure trees."

"Old U is another Transmutation-type Nen user, and his ability revolves around water."

"Old K, just like you, is an Emission-type Nen user, with the main ability being a Nen Beast."

"Their team is extremely vicious."

"Ordinary Nen users wouldn't be able to handle them."

Ron processed Zeno's evaluation.

In a one-on-one, Zeno would win most of the time. This was something Zeno had also said to Chrollo Lucilfer in the original plot.

But against these four, Zeno didn't have a guaranteed win.

This alone was enough to prove the strength of the.

Ron also had some recollection of this group.

"I remember, in the original plot, the Kute Gang of Thieves was mentioned."

"They didn't appear directly, but they were described in passing by Ging Freecss."

"Ging's major accomplishment was capturing the Kute Gang of Thieves."

"On the other hand, Razor, another wanted fugitive captured by Gin, wasn't even mentioned."

"Razor is also an A-rank fugitive."

"That means the KUTO Thieves Group's strength is definitely above Razor's." (T/N Was he really a A-ranked? I think so since the phantom troops didn't want to fight him)

Ron looked at Zeno.

"So Grandpa Zeno, what should we do next?"

"First, we leave Meteor City and report this to the Hunter Association. As for the rest, it depends on whether the Hunter Association decides to hire the Zoldyck family for the mission."

---

A figure appeared beside the dismembered Old O.

"Old K, you're late," Old O said with a hint of complaint.

But Old K didn't seem to care.

"I was dealing with the disaster I was assigned to before I could come to help you. Rather than saying I'm late, it's more accurate to say you're too weak—you not only lost the disaster but also got your arm chopped off."

Old O snorted in disdain.

"That was Zoldyck. Even if you ran into him, would you have performed better than me?"

"Of course, I'm stronger than you," Old K replied confidently.

Old O shot a glare at him.

"Forget it, I won't argue with you. Now that we've been exposed, the Elders of Meteor City and the Hunter Association will be informed soon. How long until the remaining two disasters are born?"

"Three days."

"Three days... Damn, it would be better if they were born faster. If we wait for the Elders of Meteor City to respond and the Hunter Association to send people, it'll be harder to handle."

Old O looked in the distance.

Old K calmly said, "The Elders of Meteor City aren't much to worry about, and the Hunter Association? Aside from a few individuals, no one there can pose a threat to us."

"The Hunter Association's people won't arrive that quickly."

"And as for the Zoldycks, after leaving, they won't come after us unless someone hires them. They won't continue attacking us on their own."

Old O frowned.

"Don't underestimate the Elders of Meteor City."

"They've trained some strong Nen users, especially that group called the Wild Beasts."

Meteor City supplied many talents to the world. Many forces around the world buy their "goods" here.

Though the environment is harsh, it's often the birthplace of remarkable talents.

World crime syndicates, the Zoldyck family, criminal organizations, and even the governments of some small countries...

This is, after all, Meteor City's largest source of income.

However, before Meteor City provides so many talents to the outside world, the Elders themselves also have their own concerns.

In order to maintain their own interests, the Elders of Meteor City needed to possess sufficient power.

Thus, the Elders would reserve certain talents for themselves, not offering them to the outside world, but rather keeping them within Meteor City to nurture them, providing them with the resources needed to unlock their potential.

Each of the twelve Elders of Meteor City would do this.

Moreover, the Elders often formed alliances with one another.

One Elder would push forward their strongest Nen user from their subordinates and combine them with the Nen users chosen by other Elders to form a group known as Wild Beasts.

This group was the counterpart to the Shadow Beasts of the world's underworld.

The Wild Beasts had twelve members in total.

The Shadow Beasts had ten members, each serving one of the Ten Dons.

There were some similarities between the two groups, but the Wild Beasts were clearly stronger than the Shadow Beasts.

This was essential for the Elders to maintain control over Meteor City, to protect the city, and to prevent other forces from infiltrating it.

If not for their strength, the world's underworld would have long since taken control of Meteor City.

Such a business would have been far too valuable for them to ignore.

The only reason the world's underworld hadn't seized control was because it couldn't.

Meteor City was incredibly powerful.

Though it was called a "Dump," it was essentially a country in its own right.

And within that country, it could be considered one of the stronger powers.

No matter how large the world's underworld was, it was still just a criminal organization operating underground. It couldn't compete with a real nation. The disparity between the two was too great.

Additionally, the world's underworld was merely large in name.

Many of the underworld factions from different countries had never joined it.

For example, the underworld of the Kakin Empire.

Those groups were all tied to the Kakin Royal Family—they were nothing more than the dark side of the royal family.

These underworld groups had no connection to the world's underworld.

Similarly, V5's situation was akin to that of the Kakin Empire.

Therefore, the so-called "world's underworld" was just a title. It didn't truly represent the world.

Ron gazed at the crystal ball in front of him.

The progress on the crystal ball had completely stopped.

After all, they had already left Meteor City.

Due to the appearance of the KUTO Thieves Group, Ron couldn't return to Meteor City immediately.

At this point, Ron took out something else.

It was the bone covered with insect eggs, the one he had obtained after killing the giant cockroach.

The top half of the bone had a blade-like shape.

The lower half was cylindrical.

One could say that with a little sharpening, it could become a knife. However, the revived insect eggs on it were quite repulsive.

Ron carefully took out the bone.

He didn't touch it directly with his skin but instead used his aura to lift the bone.

He then used his aura to wash over the bone repeatedly.

Once, twice, three times...

Meanwhile, Zeno entered another room, took out his phone, and called the Hunter Association.

The Zoldyck family and the Hunter Association had a cooperative relationship.

Netero and Zigg Zoldyck had a friendly connection.

Zeno and Netero had met multiple times.

In the past, the Hunter Association had even hired the Zoldyck family for assassination missions.

"I understand."

A voice responded from the other end of the line before Zeno hung up.

"Milluki's personal butler will have to wait a little longer."

Currently, Zeno didn't dare to enter Meteor City so easily.

The Kute Gang of Thieves was already strong enough.

And if the Kute Gang of Thieves was aligned with the Elders of Meteor City, it would be even harder to deal with.

With Zeno's strength, if he went in now, he'd most likely never return.

Of course, that possibility wasn't very high.

In Zeno's opinion, the Kute Gang of Thieves and the Elders of Meteor City were most likely enemies.

But no matter how low the chances, Zeno wouldn't take the risk.

That wasn't how the Zoldyck family operated.

Why take on a mission if you don't have confidence in the outcome?
