This time, Karl's gaze has shifted. The smirk that once hinted at arrogance hardened, turning into a cold, determined stare. Zoey felt a creeping discomfort throughout her body. She knew Karl often exuded excessive confidence, but tonight, something felt different.
"Karl, I thought that order was already done," Zoey said, trying to sound firm despite fear gnawing at her.
"No, Zoey," replied Karl with a low yet pressuring tone. "You haven't completed my task. There's one more thing you need to do, and this time, I don't want any arguments."
Zoey swallowed, trying to control herself. "And what is it?" she asked, her voice almost a whisper. Though scared, she felt compelled to know what Karl had in mind.
"This task will be easy for you." Karl stated.
"Just spit it out, Karl, no need for beating around the bush!" Zoey muttered, occasionally glaring at Karl.
"Lie!"
"Lie? To whom?" Zoey furrowed her brows.
