CH26

The red-haired boy likely appeared near Swan City to wait for the ship.

Hearing Claude's explanation, Helag felt somewhat relieved. The red-haired boy's teacher probably wouldn't live much longer, if he was even still alive, so there was no need to worry about revenge.

"I'll inform you as soon as there's news about the ship. In the meantime, keep studying. I may not understand wizards, but the ones I've met were very knowledgeable. Knowledge is always the sharpest weapon," Claude said, his eyes filled with nostalgia.

Claude admitted, "Although I'm your teacher, I'm benefiting from this relationship. I hope you can look after my descendants in the future."

Helag smiled, "You don't need to say that, teacher. You've helped me, and I'll naturally take care of your descendants within my ability. To gain something, you must give something. I understand that."

Claude laughed heartily, "You really are suited to be a wizard."

Three months passed quickly.

During this time, Helag spent most of his days in Northon Academy's library.

Deep Blue recorded every book in the library. Helag had Deep Blue scan and record each book before choosing what to read.

In terms of the Starry Sky Meditation Technique, Helag successfully meditated on the second star and was now working on the third.

Helag Merlin: Strength 2.1, Agility 1.7, Constitution 2.9, Spirit 4.6, Magic 100%.

After successfully meditating on the second star, his physical attributes slightly increased.

Helag realized that the Starry Sky Meditation Technique didn't increase one point of Spirit per star. The second star increased his Spirit by 1, and future stars would likely increase it more, but also take more time and effort.

The Meteor Grass he had was used up. Claude managed to find two more plants through connections, but no more could be found.

Helag couldn't rush this; resources on the Carlson Continent were indeed scarce.

Emil formed a mercenary team with Jimmy and the others. After completing a few missions, they gained some fame, and the team grew to over sixty members.

Melissa suggested forming a trade caravan. With Emil's group's strength, they could make a lot of money through trade.

Everyone had their own busy schedules, and Helag saw less of them.

Helag noticed that since demonstrating a Fireball spell, Jimmy, Melissa, and the others seemed to fear him, or at least respect him more.

They acted normal around him, but Helag sensed their underlying fear.

Emil, however, remained honest and straightforward with Helag. He seemed more tired lately, with signs of hardship on his face.

Helag estimated that Emil might soon break through to become a great knight.

Helag once thought great knights were the pinnacle of power in this world, until…

"Baron Buck hid his relationship with Emil, even from Emil himself. He must have had a plan, but…" Helag sighed. Whatever Baron Buck's intentions were, they died with him.

Helag's peaceful days were interrupted in early spring when Claude brought news that the ship would arrive at Swan City's port within five days.

Swan City's port was large, the biggest on the Carlson Continent due to its advantageous location.

Many ships came and went. Despite his age, Claude personally came to see Helag off, supported by Melissa and Emil.

"Teacher, you really didn't have to come," Helag said with a wry smile.

Claude smiled kindly, "You don't understand. Once you leave, we may never meet again. Walking a few more steps is nothing."

"Helag, just come back to visit. Teacher, you're in great health!" Melissa said. She had grown more womanly, no longer the girl she once was.

A month ago, Melissa confirmed she was pregnant. It wasn't noticeable yet.

They had a simple wedding, just a small meal with friends. As fallen nobles, they couldn't afford a grand ceremony.

"You don't understand. The wizard's world is different from ours. They might spend a lifetime on a single experiment. And sea voyages are tough; you won't return soon," Claude said wistfully.

Emil patted Helag's shoulder, "Don't forget us, kid. I don't care if you're a wizard or what, you'll always be that hardworking boy from the training ground to me."

"I know," Helag said, reminiscing about learning swordsmanship and breathing techniques.

"You're our child's future godfather. Remember to look after him when you become a noble wizard," Melissa said, touching her belly.

Helag nodded, "I wish I could see him born. I'll write once I'm settled, to keep in touch."

"The ship's here," Claude said, looking at the horizon.

Everyone looked towards the sea, where a ship was approaching quickly.

At first, it seemed ordinary, but as it neared, they saw it was much larger than typical ships.

The ship had five levels, and its hull was covered in a strange, dark metal.

About a dozen sailors were busy on the deck, pulling sails.

Helag noticed at least five knight-level experts among the sailors.

The ship docked, and the sailors began unloading cargo, looking like a regular merchant ship.

Claude explained, "This ship belongs to a wizard organization from the Karag Continent. They mainly run trade routes because their ships are sturdy enough for dangerous seas. Their crew is strong, with official wizards onboard, allowing them to trade far and wide, making a lot of money. Wizard organizations have high expenses."

"Transporting wizard apprentices is secondary. If there are any, they take them; if not, it's no big deal."

Helag saw a hooded figure at the bow, exuding a strong magical aura.

Deep Blue issued a warning,

[High-energy magic source detected!]

"That must be the official wizard on the ship," Helag murmured.

The figure seemed to notice Helag, turned and walked down the gangplank towards him.
