Dorne Sunspear-
-POV Ashara-
Ashara's life had taken a complete turn in recent times. If she had to be frank, she couldn't believe that her life could change as radically as it had been. Her father was basically trying to sell her as if she was worthless what had pissed her off.
She had had the privilege of sending her father a message explaining in detail how incredibly upset she was with him and how his lady Melania Martell was not satisfied.
He was aware that his father did not care what she thought but he would be more concerned about what the princess of Dorne would think being the most important force in the region and of course the person who had more power.
Later she discovered that her father's whole plot could be summarised in the actions of a frightened man. His father was incredibly scared. His older brother, although a more than competent and charismatic ruler, did not finish convincing as lord of the Dayne house.
It did not help in any way that her brother Arthur was becoming the knight of tomorrow and the royal guard was a completely immense blow to the mind of what was basically her older brother by being seen as inferior to one of her younger brothers (although she did not understand what it had to do with being a good gentleman and being a good lord anyway) and then she came to the equation.
His father had found out how he had the ear of Princess Melania Martell. Of how Princes Oberyn and Elia considered her a sister. And you didn't have to be too smart a person to know that Doran would see this as an opportunity to advance any plan on the path he wanted.
So he decided that the most sensible thing (at least in his mind) was to marry his most dangerous daughter with a house in which she would not be a threat. That eliminated Baratheon and Lannister from the list. The baratheon because it was neither more nor less than the king's cousin and the Lannister because Tywin was in the minds of many people the most powerful man of the seven kingdoms.
With that explained, he decided to marry her to someone who was not a (visible) threat and then Rickard Stark arrived. Apparently Lord Stark was looking for a wife for his eldest son. Apparently he had heard of his achievements. Of its incredible beauty. Of his intelligence. From his ruthless vein. In short, he loved her for being herself.
Of course his father as the desperate person he was didn't ask himself a question. If he wanted his daughter who was seen as she was, didn't he mean that in a few words that the son would also be incredibly dangerous and skilful? It was a question that anyone with two fingers in front would have asked immediately knowing that it was the best decision that could be made.
But her father was really desperate to get Ashara out of the way for the reason that he wanted in a few words to ensure that no one tried to put her in the position of Lady Dayne (despite the fact that there were many people who thought she could do better in the position in question) and that's why she accepted without thinking twice at any time.
It's not that she cared too much. If his father didn't seem to realise in any of the ways that he was basically a man wanting to do something that he was clearly looking for an ideal wife then it wasn't his fault.
That of course led to more questions about Lord Stark and his son. Rickard Stark was known by all the nobles of the south as The Great Wolf of the North. The fearsome Wolf of the North. The massive wolf of the north. It was in reference to his appearance. Half a metre ninety and had a body that almost seemed sculpted in what was the rock (what she did not know is that since the northern gyms were started, Lord Stark had used them as a means to remove tension) and it was so formidable that some would say that it was better not to attract the sight of the fearsome wolf. It's not that that mattered too much in the minds of some people of course.
As is natural, he found out that Rickard Stark, although not a politician (he lacked that of betraying) he was intelligent and ruthless. He was a man who had full control of himself and knew how to exploit all the things that were for his benefit.
If he thought it was okay, he would use everything in his hands to achieve his goal. Although some would say that this was a fearsome personality, Ashara and Lady Melania were actually surprised (Ashara also saw how Lady Melania saw the reports moaning for a man like that calling him a potential husband) that the north had someone like that although of course they were northerners.
They were survivors in the extreme word and would use everything in their hand to make the survival of their people a priority, a trait approved by both.
Then they focussed on Lyarra Stark. From the reports Lyarra obtained was the symbolism of a woman that you couldn't tell her how to do things. He would do them in his own way and not even a god could be able to tell him in the slightest how to do things. A healthy respect for the woman came but also an admiration for the Stark man for not trying to subdue the spirit of the woman.
Needless to say, this had gained the attention of both Melania and her adopted daughter because if both parents were this special then who knows what hariric Stark could actually be.
As is natural, the reports did not talk much about the future sir. They had nothing. There was only a physical description. A man of one metre ninety with short hair but somewhat wild with grayish green eyes that made him look enigmatic.
At the same time he was as fit as his own father. However, when his spies risked more, they discovered several things or rather discovered several events that were significantly important for the future meeting.
In a meeting like this if she had to be frank to have the advantages were everything if she had to be frank. So as is natural I wanted to know as much as possible and at the same time I would not deny that I wanted to know about the man.
Hariric Stark had established an extremely lucrative business in braavos that was slowly making a position beyond advantageous in the big city. The Olympus hotel, as many called it, was one of the greatest luxuries that anyone could ever imagine. She was very surprised if she had to be frank since she had the voice of many people.
So as his adoptive brother Oberyn liked to travel so much they sent him there to have a view of the place. The impression of Oberyn's letters was that the place was impressive. Not only because of the first-class treatment that was received. He described the place as the sky itself incarnate. I'm talking about the service of excellent masseuses. I also talk about what the pools were like that were there to relax. The good beds. Relaxation rituals. And well, I mention the whores but no one else commented on that.
The hotel in question was actually the main place where merchants stayed and many more people who were more trying to do business in Braavos. Soon the other inns were being forced to close because not so many people were interested in them. But in the end they didn't do it because at least they could cut with the cheapest clientele to keep them on. But the nobles and the rich people who went to Braavos stayed there especially.
With that information, something is clear. Hariric Stark was not a normal person. Being able to set up a business like this spoke very well of his skills and what is more important of how he was somehow able to earn resources in large quantities. At the end of the day it didn't matter what people thought but what mattered was that the bank had allowed this investment. She was sure that they earned money from the investment but that led her to a question. How did she do it to control and prevent the iron bank from somehow trying to take control of that business?
"I see that you are once again completely eating the jar with things." A woman's voice was heard. Ashara turned to see a beautiful woman with brown skin and dark hair with eyes of a warm brown colour. This was Elia Martell. Second daughter of Melania Martell. The flower of Dorne as many called it. His kind and affectionate character won everyone's heart. What no one knew and she hid very well was that like a snake when she hit it she did it with precision and it was lethal.
''What can I say. When something is bothering me, I rarely stop in any way that something leaves me alone. I honestly feel that there are many things to worry about at this point taking into account the mess we are getting into''. Some people could reason that it was strange that she said a mess with the northerners. The opinion of too many people about the Northerners is that they were easy whites. She had never believed it. For thousands of years they resisted the Andalusians so the question that had to be asked. Why did people think that changed?
"Well, I guess I have to completely agree with you in this. After all, we don't have the remotest idea of how things are in the North and what is more important than how the people there will see us''. Although Elia was the same as her mother and Ashara worried about the upcoming marriage for the same reasons she was more worried because she doubted that the whole north would see well the marriage of her sovereign and lord with the daughter of a second house and what is more important of the south.
"I'm not so worried about that. If hariric Stark if it's something it's an incredibly intelligent person. There is a good chance that he has already counted on one of his lords to mount some kind of annoyance and somehow he will have already deduced or at least thought of a way to deal with them''. She didn't hide the point that she had the same fear as her friend.
''Hariric Stark is a very interesting man if I have to say it my dear friend How many men can you talk about and even say that they are so incredibly intelligent and capable in what is the revolution of a kingdom? You will be interested to know that I have discovered more things about him thanks to my time in the capital''. Frankly, calling King´s Landing the capital made her sick. The place smelled like shit and what was worse there were so many people trying to gamble it that it wasn't fun.
"Really? One would think that the capital would have no interest in the north seeing that they are such incredibly snobbish people that they consider themselves above all. But if you think there is something that should be worth mentioning, I would like to hear it if possible''. Not to say that he was dying to have more information on his side that could allow him to put together the great puzzle in front of him.
"Oh yes. It turns out that Varys, who is the counsellor of the whispers of the kingdom, had been in contact with Lord Bolton. Lord Bolton was kind enough to let the eunuch know that the north was proceeding to become independent in terms of food. Something that only if that could radically change the rule in question''. And it was no less true. The north had to buy a lot of food from the Tullys if the Tullys saw themselves without that business they would weaken considerably. It's not that Elia cared too much.
"That sounds like a good thing to me. If the North doesn't have to be constantly paying for what food is basically, it means that you can use that money in much more. But I doubt that's the only thing you've discovered. I know you well enough to know that you do a more than efficient job in the discovery of information and you have ample control of being and banishing more things''. It wasn't that hard to see. Elia had a gift. It was as if I was able to see the threads of something, track them and then discover basically everything in it.
'I like that you know me so well actually. Truth be told, what you say is true. The North has not stood still. I don't know how but it has been offering a unique service in the form of alcoholic beverages that have been taking over the market throughout Essos. They have divided the drinks into two classifications: low and high level. I don't think you have to be a genius to know what this means.'' Elia would not be the first to deny that she had been impressed with the discoveries obtained at this point.
''Ohh? I suppose that would mean that a group of drinks are sold in what is the business of selling products for taverns and much more. easier to produce. Cheaper and that generates wide ranges of money. The second is a stronger classification that has gained in a few words the attention of the middle and upper classes, isn't it?''. The game was getting red-hot if Ashara could tell.
''Indeed. There are many types of drinks. Whiskey, Rum, Vodka, Sake. These drinks are the most outstanding of all. At the low level they sell a lot. But in the high-end level they are also. Recently the north has also begun to produce a more than incredible wine. And that without counting on the fact that somehow the North has also put in its hands a way to produce an element called sugar, cocoa, coffee and tea. Not to mention spices''. The North was diverse and wide.
''...Shit, how the hell have you discovered so much? Lady Melania's network of operations has only discovered a flourishing Stark business. How the hell have you made do with all the things to discover who knows what other business the Starks have done?''. Ashara was now more shocked. New alcoholic beverages. Spices (the gold of food). New culinary elements and different drinks. If this was true, the north was turning into gold with only business things.
"I didn't discover everything by myself. Varys has been trying for a while to discover the origin of all the new wealth of Braavos. It must be understood that Braavos is already a powerful city capable and perfectly possible to fight against those who threaten their interests. So it is natural to see that they have new interests was Varys' mission. And he wanted to discover it not only for himself but to earn points with the royal family''. Frankly, Elia had to admit that it was a very well done thing by the Stark family.
"And let me guess you couldn't let us know before this for the simple reason that it was an operation that you didn't go to until it was possibly mentioned in court in some way. I find it hard to believe that the issues that are discussed in the small council are made known just like that''. Call her a suspicious person but I sincerely doubted that the information obtained was as she thought.
'No. Although the small advice has kept it hidden well you know Tywin talks about it and his daughter is an idiot who discusses everything without counting the people around her. They have not yet made the connection with the north but the council is studying to make offers to the brave to acquire these same resources. I don't even want to imagine the face when the small council finds out what it is basically the north and not another possible source that is producing what they covet so much''. He didn't even want to imagine the look of each gentleman, especially the pompous ones of the domain or the possible fury of Tywin Lannister at the possibility that things had slipped out of his hands.
"I almost feel sorry for all the spies these people have. I have no doubt that both Tywin Lannister and Olenna will be furious. The fact that what is basically a clandestine operation of money has passed in a big way will not make them in the slightest fun and it is possible that they will take it out on their espionage bosses. And what's more, it will also make them feel weak and that doesn't bode well.'' Tywin Lannister and Olenna Redwyne were people from another past. If they looked or felt weak, I had no doubt that they would use every tactic or strategy to regain the advantage.
"It couldn't happen to better people. It is a good fortune and reality that you can find and marry the future Lord Stark. Although I hope Doran completely forgets his plans to use you for something. Hariric Stark does not seem to me one of those to be easily manipulated and I have no doubt that he will have already designed plans and contingencies designed to ensure that no one can use their future heirs to be used for the benefit of another''. If Hariric was as intelligent as she seemed, she had the certainty that she would have plans to make sure that in case of having an heir this even in his death he fulfils his will and not that of others.
"It's the same on my part. Although I can respect your brother, I don't see myself capable of doing anything that harms my new family in any way. I love the Elia family I say it with all my heart but I don't see myself in any way capable of acting against a man like Hariric Stark if I get married. Frankly, I also see it as an idiot's mistake. She was a good judge and knew that a man who had moved to turn the North into such a power was not stupid.
"I see that you are sincere about it and if I have to say it myself I have to agree with you. My brother may not realise it but he will possibly be talking about pissing off the person least suitable for it''. Elia loved Doran very much but in Doran's mind everything was necessary to promote Dorne's interests. Even Elia's future marriage to the prince was despite seeing how bad things were.
"I doubt very much that Stark is so bad or against me. I sincerely believe that he is already aware of any future plan of your brother against him and in fact I do not want to sound very unpositive but I think he will be well prepared to act against them. It's not that I can blame him. It's normal to do in these cases''. Ashara could only say that he found it would be a complete waste of time on his part to try in some way what it is to cause inconvenience in some way to Hariric.
"Anyway, all this will be a clear event that will happen alone and only if there is a wedding. I don't want to spoil anything but if Doran doesn't see the sense he will try to cancel it somehow. I know him pretty well. Doran sees you as a family but he is a believer that everyone in the family must do the impossible to promote the family. I don't exactly agree with that but going against him was silly''. Doran was like that. He was not born to be a warrior like Oberyn. It didn't have the most definitive features of the Martell house. But he had a sharp mind.
"As you yourself have said, we must wait and be patient. However, Doran better know where he is getting into. Trying to fuck with Stark could be the biggest mistake he makes. And I know your brother well enough to know that he can screw it up in a big way letting his ambitions actually eat him.'' It didn't matter how else it could be seen.
"Well. Now let's go. I would like to meet your future husband. I've heard that they say he's in very good shape. Rhaegar has not been as satisfying as I would have liked in reality despite all this beauty. Maybe the wild force of the north is much more for me''. Elia laughed amused thinking about how much fun she could have if they gave her the reason for it. The two of them were about to do something else when a song was heard. They had never heard her before in their lives.
The beautiful song that had never arrived. It felt strange. They had no voice to say what it was (lugia song) but both felt very full of life. Of hope.
They say that music tames the beasts but it is also said that music treated the wounds of the heart. It was just meaningless in their minds. So they decided to go see who was playing that song.
Elia, well, she was curious. But Ashara felt very excited about the music. He had never felt like this before. He saw that more people had come out to look. That's when I arrived at one of the areas where young people trained in Sunspear. A place where children trained to be guards by their own parents. She saw many children around a man. A man who wore a falluta that seemed to be made like a shell but of snow-white glass. They had never seen anything beautiful. And the man although he seemed strong and dangerous. It was extraordinary.
POV Hariric-
When Harry was told that he was possibly getting married, he reacted as expected... he had to swallow hundreds of curses. He still remembered the day of his wedding with Nymphadora. But he was perfectly aware of his obligations as the future lord of a big house.
Whether he liked it or didn't like it, he had the obligation to find an exceptionally good partner for him. Some would only look for a beautiful woman or a woman who would provide them with ample resources.
Some people would be surprised but not him. Harry had learned a long time ago that a couple as equal and as capable as you is what you always wanted. When Nymphadora was proposed it was not only because of her attitude but what she was capable of. She was a loving and affectionate woman who had a strong desire for family but zero hesitations to use the strength itself to show some people her place when it comes to pissing her off.
However, when his parents told him that they had found a potential partner, he decided that the most sensible thing was to observe what they had in mind of all things. Call him an interested person but he knew that his parents were not exactly idiots so he decided that he wanted to see what they found acceptable as a wife. If one of the tully girls told him, he would probably have gone crazy.
Of all the possible couples frankly discredited to those of two groups. The people of the Domain had no doubt that he would work internally in an attempt to enrich his people and what is more important to fuck him up in some way.
In addition, as his future wife, he would have a considerable amount of power. If someone questioned, why would a person from the Domain do such a thing? The Dominion had a level of resentment with the North that was only equalled by the valley itself and most of its lords of all things.
In the lands of the West it was for a different reason. He had been thoroughly informed of the man named Tywin Lannister. He was a tyrant who was not afraid to stain his hands with blood to get what he wanted. Although normally he wouldn't give a shit what the man did since the Stark family itself was not a saint, something he was clear about is that if he married someone from the West, they would work from the inside to benefit Tywin.
Thank you, but no thanks. If he wanted a saboteur or spy, he could let in anyone who was at least with a little more or less decent body. I had seen several girls like that in lys. I would never understand how people didn't know that Lys possibly had one of the biggest espionage networks.
In the lands of the storm there were good candidates but well I preferred to avoid interacting with the people there. He didn't have a love of any kind for Robert Baratheon who reminded him too much of a noisy idiot. It didn't help that Robert had complained of being in love (something he would never understand where the idea came from) and his father with the support of Jon Arryn had sent or that it was a fucking marriage contract for his little sister.
That day Great Jon, Dareon, Tykren and twenty other guards had to sacrifice themselves bravely for the fact of getting out of their anger. The fat that only a few days before they had told him that he was going to get married did not help in the least.
The less you say more about the Lands of the iron islands the better. Seriously a great no many thanks but the lands of the iron born would first be purified with hundreds of kilos of napalm and then it would begin to be rebuilt. If for the outside.
Look what I had read about Vikings and many more. The Vikings could be whatever they were but first they were explorers and much more. But those born of iron were looters, pirates, rapists and murderers. The scum of society in his mind. That they tell him to marry a girl from there would have led to many deaths or maybe do the same thing that Andromeda Tonks did to avoid getting married (note: let it be known that this action was recorded in the Black history books as one of the most pleasant actions known).
So that leaves two options. The number one was the lands of the crown. But well, his father had a healthy disgust for everything Targaryen had in them. No. It wasn't because of what happened almost three hundred years ago. No. It was because since this piece of monarchy was founded, the Targaryen treated the Northerners like weapons and then did not give them adequate payment. Say what you want but the Starks don't forget just like that.
Then Dorne arrived. Of all the snake nests Dorne was not as bad as some would think. Okay, it had its flaws, let's be honest, any kingdom had its flaws. What kind of idiot would I be for not to know that they had no flaws? But they were at least the most sensible of all.
The Dorniens were not idiots with big heads. They weren't idiots with delusions of grandeur. And what is more important, none of them would throw himself just like that in what was a stupid attempt to tell a northerner how to do things. It would be incredibly hypocritical seeing that they were the same and well the Northerners had as much genius as they were.
When he discovered that he was going to marry Ashara Dayne, the first thing he did was to run away from the mocking looks of his friends. Jon Umber especially declared him the luckiest man of the seven kingdoms. There was no one who didn't know about the woman with black hair like the night. With eyes as violet as an amethyst. With beautiful brown skin.
She was considered by many as a jewel. Of course Hariric was far from being an idiot and said that he had the feeling of getting into the trap with a big lion right in front of his nose. Everyone who heard it said that they were the nerves of a possible wedding. He said he would be dealing with a very dangerous animal. I had no idea how true that was.
Anyway, when he was informed of it, only his father could come with him. Among other things, his mother stayed in the North to control the administration. Many more projects were being finalised.
Although the strongholds of the Starks were finished, those of their fellow vassals were not and there was also the new mercantile city that had been given to the Cassels. This city although from the Cassel house would be in Stark lands. Its location was perfect since it would allow the deployment of ships to transport goods from the centre of the North to what was White Port of goods that would come from the Umber and many more people as well as the Starks (although they had a canal it found that the transport by ship was safer than large caravans).
Also his mother was sto trying to calm his sister. Benjen was with the Dustins as a pupil. The last pupil. By finishing Isengard would mean that from now on all the lords would send their children to Isengard to learn and be educated. Much better than the pupil method in his mind.
But it was taken out of his mind by Dareon who was walking next to him. The brown-skinned man with platinum hair looked normal with the calm clothes he was wearing. Seeing that they were in the south, they had put on more comfortable and light clothes than those that would be worn in the North, which said a lot.
"Fuck the good quarrel we've gotten into. All because your parents had to make the attempt to find you a marriage. Why couldn't they stay in the North? No, sir. Instead, they decided that they wanted to look for a girlfriend more south, damn it. Jon complained. The man of two metres ten and pure muscle was drawing attention.
"Jon, you don't have to be so upset. We all understand it perfectly. There are better things than being like this but let's be honest we have no choice but to put ourselves here. Not for anything special or anything like that but well you have to admit that this is better than putting up with Lyanna trying to cut everything that stands in her way''. Dareon made a grimace. Lyanna had been less than happy. He wore silk pants with a white T-shirt and a black vest with the emblem of his house that was a white dragon on two black swords in a red sun.
"Yes. Besides that you just have to think that at least we are not the ones who are also trying to be in a political conversation. Frankly, I've had enough of all the lessons they give me at home and we're about to see a fucking political fight between Stark and Martell''. Tykren shuddered. His black hair and light green eyes were something that also drew attention. Fortunately, no one knew he was a reyne. He wore dark blue pants with a red silk T-shirt and a black vest that also wore his symbol of a white lion with red eyes in a black field.
"We won't get that far. However, Shelia was kind enough to inform me that they are expected to try to use Ashara Dayne to seduce me and possibly use me to expand the power of the Martell house. At least it's Doran Martell's plan regarding me''. Honestly, it would have stayed in the north. He preferred to calm his sister down.
''Pff whatever you say. Frankly, dealing with your sister with the humour she was in is the most terrifying idea. Good thing we left Eldrich and Theon there. It's probably the best for your father. I doubt it's by itself capable of calming your sister if you know what I mean my good friend''. Jon shuddered. He was a brave man. He had led his own battles with the winter legion not only in the lands of dispute (where he had taken good money) but he had also earned a lind like the Giant of the North that he liked very much. Honestly he felt good but not even he would challenge Lyanna Stark in a bad mood,
''Eldrich will do well. As a future lord of the Tallharts, my sister knows better than to kill him, although I don't deny that she will possibly mutilate him a little. She is that special if I may say so. The concept of leaving something intact is a big no for her if I have to be frank''. He felt sorry for his friends. Willem was taking care of his little brother and teaching him a lot. Eldrich had been in Winterfell with Theon and had offered (read forced) to stay to help his father deal with his sister who was in the worst mood because he hated the idea of marrying the greatest of idiots.
"Yes. Your sister who at this moment is trilling and wants to take on everyone. I say let her go to the Arryn Valley, let her go up to the eagle's nest and finish killing the imbecile. Total there is nothing that is lost with the waste of space that only knows how to drink and fuck''. Dareon had had the misfortune of once meeting the man in question. His opinion was pretty bad.
''Unfortunately that plan goes to hell because the imbecile is the cousin of the Targaryens who would really take it badly or at least that's what they have told me that his cousin died. Frankly, I don't see it that much. Honestly and then they wonder why I want to put Isengard into operation. I'm not going to tolerate buffoons like that in the North in any way''. In addition to not tolerating buffoons like Robert, there was also the point that the young gentlemen had obligations not only benefits.
"I'll be honest hariric I don't know if it's a good idea to let a man who is clearly so irresponsible even associate with your family. Many will put in the thought that your sister is only worth it for that idiot''. What Tykren didn't want to say is that at the same time he liked Lyanna very much and had thought about asking her to marry her to make her his wife.
"I'm not happy in the least. I am of the firm opinion that doing this only proves in a few words that it is a mistake. If Robert was really worth it or had a slight way of thinking that it would make her happy, he would be satisfied with it. Really. But he won't be happy. Hell, he'll be a shitty hostage.'' That's what infuriated him the most. Her sister would be little more than a hostage in the hands of those who would claim that they were actually interested in her well-being.
"I still can't see how he got Lyanna's marriage hand. That is, she is your sister and everything, couldn't you somehow have sent a nice message telling that idiot that if she really wanted your sister to start showing it? At least we could laugh while we watch him fuck it up in a big wage''. Jon was just shaking with laughter at the idea of seeing the idiot try to somehow win Lyanna's love and in the meantime see him fail.
"I would have liked it. There is nothing I would have wanted more in reality than to say to give it and everything. But Robert Baratheon has the fucking support of Aerys. Tell him that it is to unite the North more to the seven kingdoms and the imbecile will sign a fucking royal document that will say that my sister must marry Robert in three fucking days. I prefer not to put the crazy king in any shit in my family''. Frankly, he would prefer a thousand times to prevent his family from having the slightest contact with what the Targaryen family was.
"Well, we knew there was a very big possibility. After all, King Aerys wants to be remembered as the greatest king of all time. The king who will undoubtedly manage to be the rebirth of the Targaryen house. Dareon had read Aerys Targaryen's reports. He had become obsessed with looking for a woman of Valyria descent. He had hidden his sister only to make sure by all means that he tried to put his hands on him with his son.
'Aerys Targaryen is a man with very clear objectives. Frankly, I prefer not to be in his spotlight. I have no doubt that one day the time will come when the north will become his point of attention. I prefer that some time passes before that if I have to be frank. I'm not at all attracted to the idea of having an obsessed targaryen on me.'' Frankly, in Harry's mind he trusted little in the king of the madmen as he called him.
""You seem very sure that that will happen, although of course. Let's be honest, there is always the possibility that such things will happen. Whether we like it or we don't like it, the point in question is that man is obsessed with being the best Targaryen king in history. It's really hard for him.'' Tykren believed that the man was a threat but better him on the throne than Tywin lanister on the throne.
"It's just a matter of time. If the south or at least the Dornians have surely been able to make some relationship from the north with business and even more so with Varys supporting the crown I feel that there are many possibilities that the king will try to do something. Otherwise he will be their crown prince. The question is when because who knows what can happen''. It didn't matter how you saw it, what mattered was that it was about to happen.
"Well, let's go to more important things. Hariric, tell me, do you know anything about your future wife? Come on, you must know something about her. I'm more than sure that you're going to surprise us with an incredible girl or something like that... although I keep saying that you could have stayed in the North of all things''. Jon was clearly amused (he also ignored people's looks about how he was almost a giant). It's not that he cared too much.
''Ashara Dayne is the pupil of the Martell house. Known as the star of Dorne. Unlike most southern women she has trained herself in the art of combat becoming a master of the spear curiously. As if that were not enough, in reality she is also known as a more than competent fighter in the sense of the mental being and having been the cause of the monetary loss of the Yronwoods''. When Hariric was interested in his future wife, he hoped to know as much as possible about her.
"Really? That's good. Clearly she will become a very big advantage for you as a wife if I have to be frank. That is to say, it is obviously a better option than what some women from the seven kingdoms would actually be. However, I feel that there is a lot that we don't know about her that can be dangerous, isn't it?'' His concern came neither more nor less actually from the fact that she seemed to be an intelligent and dangerous woman.
"I know what you're thinking, my friend. Your healthy fear is that you think that somehow Ashara can become a threat to the north by trying to kill me once I have married and have an heir with her. It is an inevitable conclusion that we think about it when all we know about southerners is that they are more vipers than good people.'' It was true. It was a more than healthy fear. Olenna Tyrell herself was an example.
"You must grant that the thought of it is right. We don't know anything about Ashara and we all know exactly what the southerners of the North think. If I had to guess or at least say it in a simple way, I think that trusting a southerner, especially one who has a lot to gain, is a terrible idea if I am allowed to say it. While some would say it was brutal of him to think about that, Tykren had a bad impression of what the south was like after what Tywin did.
"Normally I would agree if it were not because Ashara has a lot to gain with this marriage link more than she thinks. After all, it is a significant advantage to get married and what is more important is to stay out of the south. But with the rules and things we are doing in the North. She will see the advantage of all things.'' Hariric had made a very deep thought about Ashara. She felt that she was a clearly sensible woman and at the same time intelligent.
"So your confidence that she won't stab you in the back in any way is that you think she will see the possibility of being in the north as a significant advantage over what is possibly the option of being in the south. That just seems too simple to me if you know what I mean.'' It was the truth for Jon. I had learned that southerners were fucking complicated.
'It won't be easy. His loyalty to the Martells is very high. She owes them the chances of having grown up the way she did. She feels that there are many chances that if it weren't for them she would just be one more little lady. That loyalty is one that I can respect. However, I am aware enough to know that she is intelligent and has a more or less sensible idea that she will not be getting into turbulent waters just like that. He frankly doubted that Ashara was such an idiot as to think that his absolute loyalty to the Martell house was above all things.
''Mmm we can't exactly blame her for being a normal person who feels clearly influenced by what friends and ties are. But how do you know that the Martells didn't somehow try to take advantage of those same ties?''. Dareon knew enough about people. When you had what was basically a rope they tried to pull more.
"If I had to blame a person for being loyal or something like that, I would quickly run out of capable subordinates for you to know. But no. She doesn't worry me in the least if I have to be frank. Because I know that at the end of the day Ashara is the most intelligent girl and she knows that now that it is possible that she gets married then she has to choose who to be loyal to''. Ashara reminded him a lot of the most interesting women in the Black family.
"Well, at least you're an acceptable boss. The truth is that I agree with hariric. She will have to choose what she prefers to be. If she prefers to be a simple southern lady who is tied to being a mother of children, see them grow up and do little more or if she wants to be a free woman and much more. Frankly, I think that if I'm honest, she will choose what suits her best at the end of the day''. Tykren spoke by voice of the experience.
"That's what I tell. What bothers me or at least what I know will be a real nuisance will be in short will be the man known as Doran Martell. I've heard about him. It is believed that the man is a calm person. Calmly above all. That's the picture. In reality, the guy is a thinker who treats everyone as his own chess pieces of some kind.'' It was the harsh reality. I saw people as useful or not useful. His own family was actually tied to it.
"Way one of those. Hey, you're very lucky if you stop to think about it. Anyway Harry, I don't think you have anything to worry about it. If the guy is as smart as he thinks he will know better than fuck with someone who can clearly hit him from behind'' Jon could understand his friend's opinion. If this Doran Martell was as he was supposed to be explaining there were many chances in reality that the guy was an idiot who thought he could get away with it with a little play behind his back.
"Yes. He's one of those nice guys actually. It's not that in the end it matters too much if I have to be honest. What worries me the most is that the idiot will end up destroying Ashara's ties if he ends up getting tired of me''. It wasn't a lie. I hated the simple idea. In his mind, family ties were the most important thing.
"You can't be focussed in any way on what is basically the things you have no control over. If the man is unable to realise that his actions have consequences then he is to blame for all things not you''. In Dareon's personal opinion that a person is only responsible for his actions, not those of other people.
"It's good to know that I have such a good support network if I have to be frank. It feels much better than I could have thought of all things. Anyway, I would like a moment to think for myself. Honestly, this heat is partly overwhelming. I've gotten used to our climate too much.'' It wasn't a lie. Being so surrounded by what was Dorne's warmth didn't sit well with him.
"I guess we can leave you a moment of peace. I mean that we know and are able to take care of ourselves. We are not children or anything. I also have to admit that I would like to see the architecture of this place. It seems very excellent if I may say so.'' Tykren could see what hariric was thinking. He wanted some peace for himself.
''Thank you Tykren. If you are interested in the library there will be documents of how this place was built as long as the master has not stolen it for some reason. It's a simply amazing place if I may say so. The architecture of this place is simply incredible if I have to say it.'' Hariric was a person who could appreciate good architecture if he had to.
''Hahaha well I could take a look at his yard of arms and see if someone from there would like a little fight. I think there is a lot to learn from people's martial skills. Who knows, maybe we can learn something completely new about this place if I may say so.'' He didn't lie about it if he had to be frank. A good fight wouldn't hurt him at all. I wanted to get an idea of how the people of Dorne fought.
"In that case Jon, don't waste time with me. Only one thing tries to leave them intact. As I think you're seeing, these people are not as physically strong as you are. Possibly they are faster but not stronger so maybe you should make it clear to them that your power is indisputable at least in my opinion of course''. Harry almost laughs when he sees Jon's excited look.
"Well then I hope it doesn't bother you but I would also like to be able to take a look. I always wanted to know what Dorne was like. This is basically the capital of Dorne and I would really like to be able to know as much as possible about it.'' Dareon wanted to relate a little to what his Dorne roots were and sincerely felt that this was the best opportunity for it.
"I would never get in your way Dareon. Just please don't abandon us northerners. I know this is warm and women are a little lighter but I think that if we are honest the north is better''. Hariric laughed amused. He knew that Dareon's loyalty was absolute to his person. Why? I knew it perfectly because Dareon was a man of his word.
"I wouldn't dream it. I may come from here but I also come from Lys. And yet it was the North that accepted me and welcomed me with open arms hariric. I can be many things but I would never forget those who have clearly given me a chance in life. That and let's be honest you're more revolutionised than down here. I think it's the best thing to do.'' With his funny laugh he moved and went out to see the market and much more he also wanted to see if he could see something exciting here in Dorne.
Hariric smiled at his friend before moving. I wasn't nervous about the meeting that was going to take place. She knew that Melania Martell was now reunited with her father. He knew that his father was more than capable of taking care of himself. She wasn't a brainless idiot incapable of making her life. But Melania Martell was a brilliant woman, she couldn't deny it in the least.
But he decided to look for a place and found the perfect place in a training yard more for children than anything else. I had to be honest that the place, although a place to train, was quiet. When he entered he was immediately confronted by a group of children quite enthusiastic if I had to say it although it was a bad encounter.
´´Stop, you are entering the Martell family's training camps. Unless you want us to kiss you out by force, you'll leave here immediately.'' The children were all in training clothes handling what appeared to be training spears and swords. They were all made of wood. At least they didn't wear the horrible quilted clothes.
"I'm sorry but I was looking for a place to relax. Getting the attention of many people is never fun and this place is quieter than most of the bustle in the area so I came to the conclusion that it was in my best interest to come here''. It was true. I wanted a quiet place to be. The rooms were under surveillance at all times. The market was noisy. The most serious training camps were with Dorne's guards and military forces.
"This is where we train, good lord. We are the future generation of great warriors of Dorne. Our examples of inspiration are the legendary prince Lewyn Martell. We have to aspire to be better than him if we really want to be stronger in reality''. The one who spoke was a nine-year-old girl who clearly looked serious.
'Aspiring to be one of the best is a very good ambition young warrior. You'll get far. But I'm here to relax. Frankly, I like to train like anyone else. I wouldn't be able to handle my sword if it weren't for that same detail but believe me when I say this. There will be moments in what you want more than anything a little peace above all things``''. Peace was the best thing in his mind. Honestly, he was not a man who liked the meaningless bustle and at the same time liked order.
"Sir, we can see your sword. We have seen many swords and weapons. Prince Oberyn and many others spend some time showing us weapons but we are rarely in the presence of such a big sword if I may say so.'' Another more excited child approached. As if a gate opened, all the children were just as excited to see their sword.
"Dear that I can show you my sword. But you must promise me something. You should not try to touch the edge this is a very good sword and has been sharpened to cut the flesh like a hot iron can go through the most fragile things. I don't want anything bad to happen to you. Hariric knew that children, especially the bravest, could interpret that as if they could do it. I couldn't blame them precisely. Value was a part of people.
"Woah look at the colour. It's like snow. That is, it is white, but what are these undulations? It's pretty good, and have you seen the knob? It's incredibly well detailed. Fangs almost look like they will make you bleed in the worst way. And look at the wolf's head with the diamond. It's beautiful''. The girl with the spear looked at the weapon and was actually surprised.
"I'm glad you like it. This is the ancestral sword of my family. He has been with us for many years and I intend to keep it that way. Anyway, kids, I would like to relax. If you want I can play a melody so we can all relax together. The art of combat is useless to learn if you are exhausted and about to fall. Believe me, I know what I'm talking about it. Hariric kept her sword on her back in the special sheath designed for her. It allowed him to take it out without having to take out the entire length of the weapon but to extract it from the side which was much better. The children looked at each other nervously.
With that hariric took out his ocarina. I had learned a long time ago to touch it, the reason? Their children could be a bit of wild beasts when they wanted so I needed a way to calm them down so that in this way they do not become the terrors they could be.
He started playing the song he had learned by watching a movie. He could be a magician but he enjoyed movies like anyone else. Playing the song he saw that many people were enjoying it. People left the castle to enjoy the touch of their music. It's not that he cared. He had gotten used to what it was like to attract people's attention a long time ago.
While Hariric played the song that best gave him, his mind was filled with the most precious memories he had. I remembered perfectly the wedding with tonks. Contrary to the Muggles, the magicians got married in front of a spiritist who connected the magic of a person (if they wanted the wedding to be a true symbol of union) that was made.
She could still remember Nymphadora with her beautiful black dress (and no, it wasn't because it was tradition of the Black house) with her silver jewellery that he made for her. He still remembered his smile and his happiness. It was so beautiful to see. He would never forget the woman who captured his heart in that life because it was his reason for having lived so much.
With this also came the memories of his three children. His two boys and his girl. I could still remember how in Dora's own words she didn't want a daughter because she had been a bossy shit for her parents.
The day Aurora was born was the day that the two of them felt more than shocked. It was a fascinating day that he always felt would be magnificent. Like her firstborn, she proved to inherit the will of her parents. He could remember the number of times he was called to what was Hogwarts because his daughter had put some imbecile (mainly Weasley) in the infirmary because in his daughter's own words: they are too idiots and contaminate the genetic collection.
The final memory was that of his many grandchildren. He would still remember how much he had fought, bled and killed to ensure that his family was never persecuted in any of the ways for what were the threats of the magus.
The ICW learned the hard way that he was willing to mercilessly massacre anyone who got in his way. He was neither now nor ever would be a model of light. It was forked in the same darkness to be the Defence against the monsters that walked in it. There was a movie that expressed it well: we create monsters to fight monsters. I couldn't be less in agreement with that. However, his thoughts went to hell when he opened his eyes and found violet eyes.
-Normal POV-
No one knew how much time could be lost in a glance. When Ashara looked at the man, her violet eyes felt in tune like nothing else. Honestly, she felt magnificently influenced by the music. As if somehow she had heard the muisca once. When he opened his eyes he found the greyish green eyes and then a flood of memories hit her hard. Some memories that she couldn't understand. The magic. Life. What he saw. She couldn't understand what was happening so she said a word that she had no idea could have an impact as strong as some would say it was possible.
''Nigrem miles meus''. He didn't know where it came from but he saw the impact in the man's eyes. She didn't know what was happening when suddenly everything stopped. There was no better description for what was happening than to say that everything had frozen.
And then he appeared. A gap of darkness like no other. A being that imposed a terrifying presence. But Ashara didn't feel intimidated. Those memories awakened something in her that made her stronger. More powerful. He didn't bow to anything or anyone.
