A New Way To Teach.

"That was absolutely fantastic Miss Granger and Mr. Loki. For your dedication to the craft, I award both houses fifty points. Well done." Professor McGonagall said with a smile after all the claps from the remaining students died down.

Everyone's eyes widened due to Professor McGonagall's words, but no one felt it was unfair to the two participants of the play, everyone felt it was worth it.

The students who had estimated to only waste the time of their class today by watching a third-rate play came out with an absolute masterpiece that was built with a lot of love and dedication.

Not even Draco's gang opened their mouths to complain or mock Loki and Hermione in any way, not that anyone in the class would've let them get away from it even if they tried.

"The plot was encouraging and well-meaning, the main character was a transfiguration expert which I loved and the ending connected to Transfiguration Animations, the topic the class is currently working on was masterful.", McGonagall said in a chirpy tone.

"Thank you for your praise Professor.", Loki said and bowed along with Hermione.

"Oh dear! I'm sure the whole school will be talking about you two for years to come. What you have done in this class is not something just anyone can do. You should be proud of what you've achieved."

Loki and Hermione nodded with a beautiful smile and moved to go to their seats. They shared a quick nod that conveyed to each other just how happy they were and their decision to talk about the play after class.

As they approached their seats, several people whispered commendations to them and when they finally sat the class threatened to break into hushed whispers with everyone eager to discuss the play.

But a simple soft *cough* from Professor McGonagall brought all the attention back to her, no one wanted to upset the 'big' cat after all.

"Now, now, like Miss Granger and Mr. Loki have achieved the heights of animation through transfiguration, all of you must also strive to achieve such accolades."

The class felt a little depressed seeing the class starting but Professor McGonagall noticed the depressing mood and tried her best to raise everyone's mood.

"Mastering transfiguration can not only be useful in class, but it will help you in your daily life too. You can create anything you could ever physically need using transfiguration."

The class nodded their heads in sync since they already knew about it and McGonagall asked a question to keep them engaged, "Can anyone tell me about an example of Jacob using transfiguration to help himself in his daily life?"

And for the first time in McGonagall's teaching career, nearly all the class lifted their hands to answer.

"Miss Lavender could you tell us?"

Lavender stood up with an excited look on her face and spoke quickly, "He used transfiguration not only to re-create his legs, but he also used it to create jewellery and clothes for himself and Louisa at the end."

"You are right. Five points to Gryffindor." McGonagall nodded and Lavender sat down happy at having earned five points for the first time in her life as the Professor continued.

"For example, I don't think many of you have noticed, but there is a reason why my robes always maintain their shine. It is because, like Jacob at the end, I transfigure my robes to help me keep them looking fresh and new."

The students' eyes widened slightly and many began to assess McGonagall's emerald green robes that shimmered in the light.

Seeing the students' interest grow, McGonagall struck while the iron was hot.

"But transfiguration is not just a branch of magic that can be used for convenience, it can also be used to save yourselves in opportune moments like Jacob did in the play. Can anyone tell me about his applications of transfigurations in combat?"

The hands of nearly all students shot up once again.

"Yes, Miss Davis, if you would.", McGonagall said with a smile seeing someone as lazy as Tracy be excited about answering a question in class.

Tracey stood up and spoke passionately, "First Jacob used transfiguration to save himself from the killing curse that Sullivan used by transfiguring the ground as a shield." she paused until she saw McGonagall nodding to affirm her answer and then continued.

"The second was when he conjured up large birds that attacked Sullivan using the Magnus Avis charm and the third and the final time was when he used a transfigured clone of himself as a distraction to take the killing curse from Sullivan for him."

"Well done Miss Davis. Five points to Slytherin." McGonagall said and carried on with the class, "It is as she said, a master at transfiguration can protect themselves from several threats, even those as serious as the killing curse, god forbid you come across it in your lives."

All the students' eyes by this point were already shining as they all suddenly found their previously tough and boring Transfiguration class become much more interesting and fun.

Looking at how eagerly the students were looking at her, McGonagall smiled and thought about slightly changing her teaching methods for the upcoming classes.

"If all of you in this class learn how to animate your transfigurations before the next two classes end. I will oversee a duel between all of you in class that will exclusively use transfiguration."

The students all opened their mouths loosely, even Hermione and Loki looked at McGonagall like she'd grown a new head.

Everyone was surprised at her words and almost burst out screaming in joy since after Lockharts last attempt at practical teaching last year, everyone had been wanting something similar but better.

But McGonagall's presence in front of them all reminded them that she was not someone who'd take disturbance during class lightly and so they remained tight-lipped for the fear of having their new goal taken away from them before they even began flying towards it.

Soon it was the end of class and everyone began to leave the class but Hermione and Loki stayed back when they heard McGonagall say, "Mr. Loki, Miss Granger, if the two of you could stay back please."

Everyone understanding McGonagall had something to talk to them gave them some space and emptied the room faster.

'Well, I wanted to talk to her too anyway so this is fine I guess…'

'Really I should speak with Professor Snape since he's the head of my house but eh…I'm sure he knows I'm lazy enough to talk to whoever comes my way first.'

'I'll stay back after she's done speaking to Mione.'
