Inside the meeting room in his house, Logan decided it was time to make a few changes. He had spent the morning with Jean, and now, with Laura guiding her, he could focus on his own needs.
He called for Selene and Hank, knowing they would have the answers he needed.
Selene arrived first, appearing out of thin air in a swirl of dark energy. She was sometimes one for dramatic entrances, but Logan had grown accustomed to it.
A moment later, Hank joined them, walking in with a clipboard in hand, looking curious.
Logan gestures them to take a seat, once they settled the conversation began.
"What's up, Logan?" Hank asked. "You sounded urgent on the call."
Logan nodded. "Yeah, there are a few things we need to sort out. First off, Selene, I need you to work some of your magic on my house."
Selene raised an eyebrow, a small smirk playing on her lips. "What exactly do you need, Logan?"
Logan cleared his throat, slightly embarrassed. "I need it to be more… durable. With all the werewolves running around in the house and our, uh, nightly activities, I want to make sure the house can withstand a bit more force than usual. And add soundproofing too."
Selene chuckled, nodding. "Got it. You want me to fortify it with some magic. That shouldn't be a problem. I'll set up some wards and reinforce the structure. Anything else?"
Logan thought for a moment before continuing. "Yeah, there's one more thing. I've been thinking about that metal I got from the Phoenix—Mysterium. I want to understand what it could do."
Hank had a look of intrigue on his face. "Mysterium is the toughest metal I've ever seen. Its molecular structure is incredibly dense, making it nearly indestructible."
Selene nodded in agreement. "It's not just that. Mysterium is a mysterious metal, resistant to magic and even to other metals. It doesn't react like anything else we know."
Logan listened carefully, then asked, "What if I integrated my claws with Mysterium?"
Both Selene and Hank stared at him as if he'd lost his mind.
"Are you serious?" Hank asked, clearly shocked. "Logan, that's… that's insane!"
Selene added, "Do you have any idea what you're suggesting? It could be incredibly dangerous."
Logan remained calm. "I just want to know what it would do to me."
Hank took a deep breath. "We'd need to run more tests to determine exactly what it would do. You've already got the new serum and powers running through your veins. Integrating Mysterium could make your claws almost indestructible, but it's a massive risk."
Selene thought for a moment. "Because of its anti-magic properties, it might also give you the ability to cut through magical defenses. But as Hank said, this is all theoretical. We'd need time to conduct proper research. Honestly, Logan, this idea is a bit crazy."
Logan shrugged. "It's just an idea I'm trying to explore. I'm not saying we should do it right now, but I want to consider the possibilities."
Hank looked thoughtful, tapping his clipboard with a pen. "Logan, your body has been through a lot of changes already. We don't know how the Mysterium might interact with your existing enhancements. It could amplify your powers or... do something we can't predict."
Selene interjected, "The metal's properties could either harmonize with your body or create a destructive feedback loop. Mysterium is an unknown variable in this equation. We could be talking about a boost in your capabilities, or you could become a walking time bomb."
Logan chuckled, not seeming too worried. "I've been a bomb my whole life, Selene. What's one more risk?"
Hank shook his head, smiling slightly. "That's one way to look at it, but I'd rather avoid a scenario where we're picking up the pieces of what's left of you."
Logan gave him a reassuring nod. "I hear you, Hank. I just think it's worth considering. We'll face a lot of enemies in the future, and I want to make sure I'm ready for anything."
Selene added, "And what if integrating Mysterium makes you immune to magic? That could be a game changer. But again, we don't know the limits of its properties. We might strip you of all magical influences, including any protections we've placed on you."
Logan leaned back, folding his arms. "So, we're looking at potential upsides and potential downsides. Sounds tempting to experiment."
Hank sighed, rubbing his temples. "Alright, Logan. I'll start with some simulations and small-scale tests. We'll need to collect more data before we even think about a full integration. But be prepared—it's going to take time, and it's going to be a painful process if we go through with it. We also can't forget the magnetic influence on the metal."
Selene nodded in agreement. "And I'll see what magical protections I can prepare, in case things go south. We have to approach this carefully."
Logan nodded, appreciating their cautious approach. "I trust you both. Just do what you need to do, and let me know when you have a clearer picture. Until then, I'll keep myself busy."
Hank gave a slight nod. "We'll get started. But Logan, just remember—once we start this process, there may be no turning back."
Logan smirked. "There never is, Hank. But that's never stopped me before."
With that, Selene and Hank left to begin their preparations, leaving Logan alone with his thoughts.
"Alright, time to meet old friends again."
------
Later that afternoon, Logan was in his house, awaiting the arrival of some old friends. Today, he had a plan in mind that was as bold as it was risky.
He intended to hand over the Tesseract and offer them a choice: to join his pack or walk away. He knew giving away the Tesseract was a foolish decision in some aspects, but it was necessary for the events that were meant to unfold — the birth of Captain Marvel and the advancement of technology by Howard Stark. He didn't fully understand how Howard originally got the idea for the arc reactor technology, but he suspected the Tesseract played a role.
As the hours ticked by soon it was evening, the sound of an approaching car broke the silence. Howard Stark and Peggy Carter were arriving.
Logan went out to greet them, watching as Howard parked the car with his usual flair. The two old friends stepped out, looking both curious and cautious.
"Logan," Peggy greeted with a hint of warmth, though her eyes searched his face for answers.
Logan nodded in acknowledgment and gestured for them to enter.
Once inside, they settled into a comfortable room. Peggy's gaze never left him, clearly expecting an explanation. Logan's servant, ever discreet, served coffee and other refreshments. Logan gave the servant a subtle nod, signaling them to leave the room.
After a moment of silence, Logan decided it was time to speak. "I'm sure you both have a lot of questions," he began, his tone serious. "I need to explain what happened on that airplane and everything that's occurred since."
Howard leaned back in his chair, looking skeptical. "We're all ears, Logan. This better be good."
Logan took a deep breath and began recounting the story — the crash, the strange teleportation to another dimension, and the knowledge he had gained there. He spoke of things that sounded impossible, even to him. Howard's face was full of disbelief as Logan spoke, his eyebrows raising higher with each incredible detail.
"Teleportation? Other dimensions? Logan, this is all a bit... far-fetched, don't you think?" Howard interrupted, clearly unconvinced.
Logan didn't bother to argue. Instead, he extended his hand, allowing it to glow with energy. The blue light emanated from his palm, crackling with a quiet power that instantly silenced Howard. Peggy's eyes widened, but she remained calm, watching intently.
"That enough proof for you, Howard?" Logan asked with a smile.
Howard blinked, speechless for a moment before muttering, "Well, that's something you don't see every day."
Logan nodded. "There's more. I'm not just... different because of the Tesseract." He hesitated, knowing the next part would be even harder for them to believe. "I'm also a werewolf."
Howard burst out laughing, unable to contain himself. "A werewolf? Come on, Logan, you expect us to believe that?"
Logan sighed, already expecting this reaction. He began to unbutton his shirt and remove his clothes, leaving only his underwear.
Peggy and Howard exchanged bewildered looks, and Howard quipped, "What's next? You're going to howl at the moon?"
Logan ignored the jokes, his face turned serious. Before they could say anything else, his body began to change. Bones shifted and elongated, muscles bulged, and his skin was soon covered in a thick coat of fur.
Within moments, Logan stood before them in his Alpha Werewolf form, towering and powerful, his eyes glowing a menacing red.
The room fell silent. Peggy's hand flew to her mouth, her eyes wide with shock.
Howard's face turned pale, his usual bravado nowhere to be found. "Jesus Christ..." Howard muttered under his breath, unable to tear his eyes away from Logan's transformation.
Logan quickly shifted back into his human form. He swiftly got dressed again, noticing that both Peggy and Howard were still reeling from what they had just witnessed.
"I told you," Logan said quietly, breaking the silence. "I'm not the same you."
Peggy finally found her voice. "Logan… what…How is this even possible?"
Logan sat down, his face earnest. "It's a long story, Peggy. But what matters now is that I have a choice to offer you both. I can turn you into werewolves, make you stronger, faster, and give you a chance to be part of something... bigger."
Howard scoffed, though his voice was still shaky. "And why the hell would we want that?"
Logan looked directly at Peggy, his voice softening. "Because, Peggy, Steve is alive."
A stunned silence filled the room. Peggy's face went pale as she stared at Logan, her eyes welling up with tears.
Howard snapped, his voice rising with anger and confusion. "You've gone too far, Logan! That's a cruel joke, even for you."
Logan shook his head, his expression serious. "I'm not joking, Howard. I would never lie about something like this. Steve survived because of the serum. He's in some kind of suspended animation, trapped in the ice. When the time comes, he will be found, and he'll be the same as he was before."
Peggy's tears fell freely now, her mind struggling to process the information. "Steve… he's really alive?" she whispered, her voice trembling with hope and disbelief.
Logan nodded. "Yes, Peggy. And when he returns, the two of you can be together again, just like before."
Howard looked at Logan with a mixture of anger and suspicion. "And what's your angle in all this, Logan? Why are you really telling us this? Trying to manipulate us into joining your pack?"
Logan's expression hardened. "Is that how you think of me, Howard? I don't need to manipulate anyone. I'm giving you both a choice. You've been my friends for a long time, and I want to offer you something that could change your lives for the better. But it's your decision."
Peggy wiped her eyes, trying to steady her emotions. "What would it mean to become a werewolf? What would we be giving up?"
Logan looked at her with understanding. "You'd gain strength, speed, a longer life span. But you'd also be giving up part of your humanity. You'd become part of the pack, part of a family that looks out for each other. It's not an easy choice, and I wouldn't blame you if you walked away."
Howard looked between Peggy and Logan, his face still tense. "And what about the Tesseract?"
Logan paused for a moment, then reached under the table and pulled out a small, metallic case. He opened it carefully, revealing the Tesseract, glowing with a mesmerizing blue light.
The room was bathed in its ethereal glow, and both Peggy and Howard stared at it, awestruck.
"I want you to take it," Logan explained, "The Tesseract needs to be with S.H.I.E.L.D. It's important for the future. I can't keep it here; it's too dangerous. And besides, it plays a part in things to come in the future."
Howard's eyes widened as he reached out, almost mesmerized by the sight. "Are you sure about this, Logan? This is… this is incredibly powerful."
Logan nodded. "I know. But it needs to be in the right hands. Yours. You'll know what to do with it, and it'll be safer with you than anywhere else."
Howard nodded slowly, still processing everything, he looked at the Tesseract, his hands trembling slightly as he closed it securely. "Alright, Logan. We'll take it. But this is a lot to process. And we'll need time to think about your… offer."
Logan nodded, understanding the gravity of what he was asking. "Take all the time you need. Whatever you decide, I'll support you both. Just know that you're always welcome here."
Peggy looked at Logan, her eyes still filled with emotion. "Thank you, Logan. For telling me about Steve. And for giving us this choice."
Logan nodded, a soft smile on his face. "Whatever you decide, I'll support you both. Just know that you're always welcome here."
With that, the three of them sat in silence, each lost in their thoughts about the choices that lay ahead.
After sometime they left with the tesseract, Logan watched them leave from his window.
Logan knew he had planted seeds of doubt and curiosity, but the rest was up to them.
