A Pact

Harrington's eyes narrowed, his gaze turning icy as he stared at Ronan. "You should choose your words carefully, wolf. Threats won't help your cause."

Matthew quickly intervened, stepping between Ronan and Harrington. "No threats. Just a plea for understanding. Our people have no interest in conflict. We've been living among you for a while now. And we didn't hurt anyone."

"Until now," the president reminded them.

Ronan sighed. "I apologized for it."

Harrington's expression hardened. "An apology isn't enough."

"Then what do you want from us?" Matthew asked.

"Your powers," Harrington declared.

Ronan's eyes widened, and a growl rumbled low in his throat. "Our powers? You can't be serious."

Harrington's gaze remained unwavering, his expression cold and calculating. "I am very serious. You will give us access to your powers. We need to understand you, to control what we can't afford to leave unchecked."
