Heart Ache

Cora watched Jared worriedly as he folded in on himself. She could see the pain clearly written on his face.

"Honey, how can I help?" she asked softly. Jared groaned before leaping to his feet. He staggered his way to one of the two guest rooms and went inside, closing the door behind him.

Cora sighed; he didn't want her help right now, not that she knew how to help him. This was awful though. The knowledge that Antione had no idea that he had a mate didn't really make the situation better for Jared.

She finished her glass of wine and sat forward to set her wine glass down. When she sat back up there was a burning in her chest. Cora sucked in a breath as the pain began to amplify. Soon the fire in her chest was blinding and she curled onto her side on the sofa.
