The Decision

...

August was displeased with what he saw, the dark-skinned boy that he just threw had the null eyes.

One of the special eyes in this world, but each of the eyes used a lot of mana from the user to activate and to stay active.

In his eyes and the eyes of everyone in the world it was impossible for a dark-skinned boy to use mana, and there was no doubt about them not being able to absorb mana from the environment to strengthen themselves.

This child was an anomaly in his own clan that he could either kill or keep alive.

A part of him wanted to use War God's embrace to give the child a horrible death.

(A/N: He is racist.)

But the other part of him wanted this child to be their hidden ace from the shadows, he was already a good tactician at the age of 10. Given enough time he could be a master tactician for the clan.

"You really shouldn't... hurt your guests." Jason's voice echoed through the room as he got up and dusted himself like he had fallen down.

'I'm killing him.' August thought.

In a split-second he released his raging mana, it was as dangerous as fire and most of the elders on the lower thrones were thrown back.

The ones on the higher thrones remained seated.

Even his wife, Mai was forced to take a step back at his full display of his power.

"I think you are too temperamental." Jason said as he took a step forward, he wasn't even trying to hide the fact that he wasn't affected.

"What?!" August couldn't help but shout.

He had just released his magic aura but the boy in front of him did not even feel anything.

A normal dark-skin would be crippled for life at the display but he stood tall.

"Let's try something." Jason said quietly as he closed his eyes, but everyone in the room heard him.

'Who is he talking to.' August wondered.

Jason opened his eyes and stared directly at August, the both of them locked eyes but August did not see deep blue eyes.

Rather, he saw the abyss, the void, or rather the null.

-It allows the user to open a rift in space-time trapping the opponent regardless of their strength in it. The amount of time the opponent can be trapped varies on the strength of the user.

August saw nothing, it felt like he he had closed his eyes in a dark space. Like he was not even born and was staring at the void.

But it all lasted for a second before his senses finally returned.

'It seems like it only lasts for a second against him since he's much stronger than me.' Jason thought as he nodded.

Now Jason was next to August, they made contact but August wasn't aware of anything.

August felt like all his senses dulled, they weren't at 100% even after he had woken up.

This was the first time someone had used the Null eyes against him.

He shuddered.

Jason's eyes opened, when August was trapped inside he could see him but he knew how August felt.

Now August wasn't even at 100% and he didn't notice Jason was touching him.

The man stayed like that for a whole minute, un-moving like he was a standing corpse.

None of the elders even moved neither did Mai, they were aware of what happened and knew what awaited him once the head woke up.

[60%]

[60%... Failure! Host has no affinity for magic...]

[Host can choose a talent to copy: Unwavering Will, War God's Embrace]

'I choose War God's Embrace.' Jason thought with a smile.

In the novel each clan had their own special skill that could only be inherited by the clan head, the Hachiman clan had the war god's embrace.

The skill war god's embrace significantly increased all stats of the user by several folds, it made the user OP for 5 minutes before rendering them helpless with depleted mana reserves for 40 minutes.

It was a high risk, high return move.

[Copying... Copied]

If you couldn't kill your opponents in 5 minutes you didn't deserve to be the clan head.

Jason wondered why this skill was available to him even though it needed mana, but he guessed that he would use nature energy instead of mana.

[2000 P]

The notification flashed him, Jason felt like a girl flashed him instead of the system because he began drooling.

Normally he would get 200 P from stealing a talent from someone but this time he got 2000 P.

'It probably has something to do with the strength of the skill or the strength of the person with the skill.' Jason mused before backing away.

He felt a large amount of killing intent focused on his back, on instinct he jumped back landing 20 meters away.

But even at that distant he still felt pressured.

He walked towards Jason, his every step causing a boom in the room, he wanted to punch something and luckily for him the perfect punching bag had just appeared.

"I'm not going to kill you!" He declared.

'Thank God.' Jason thought.

"Leave." He commanded.

'What's wrong with them.' Jason couldn't help but wonder.

He left the room, as he passed the door the large steel doors closed shut almost like a border.

'I guess they are deciding my verdict.' Jason thought as he waited outside.

Jason looked around, a part of him wanted to use the 2000 points he got for copying war god's embrace to buy some goods.

But he knew this place was heavily guarded, in fact there was even someone just some meters away from him.

'When I get home I guess I'll buy some things.' Jason thought.

With his low budget there weren't many things he could buy, but there were many things he wanted to buy.

The system shop specialized in items, meaning that he could even buy an item that would give him x2 the result of training.

"The Null eyes and the War God's embrace, which one is more powerful?" Jason wondered.

It was his only way to pass the time so he decided to question himself a bit.

'Null eyes will win against war god's embrace because the user can just put the opponent in the null.' Jason decided after several minutes of consideration.

He fell onto the ground.

Someone had just opened the large steel door he was resting on.

"Come in." The elder said.

Jason noticed that the man looked at him with a bit of compassion, if he looked at the elder better he would notice that it was the same person the clan head was talking to.

'I guess my verdict isn't good.'

Jason entered the gloriously designed room again, the clan head had sat back down on his chair and an air of seriousness emanated from the room.

Even his wife was at one corner.

An elder spoke up.

"Before your verdict is revealed you are going to be told a secret."

"Why's that? Aren't you afraid that I'll reveal it." Jason asked.

"Even if you have the null eyes you are just above average, no one is afraid of a dead man speaking."

'I don't get it.'
