The Brutality of the Northern Warriors

"They will not pass this point!" One of the guards, covered in blood and deep wounds, raised his sword in front of three expert assassins and roared furiously as he faced the enemy.

The way he fought was brutal; his attacks were comparable to those of a giant confined by water magic. But under the overwhelming attacks of three assassins who were sword mages, this warrior couldn't stand out much.

Yet, with the knights in front of the carriage falling one by one, there would come a moment when he couldn't withstand these brutal attacks. At that moment, two of the masked men leapt onto the carriage with superior speed, their bodies shining with an unknown aura they had not yet released, heading directly towards where Haldor was.

The guards, fighting fiercely despite their bodies failing them due to poisoning, cried out upon seeing this. Some ran desperately, with no concern for their lives, hoping not to disappoint the prince, who had given them a unique path to greatness. Unfortunately, they were still very weak, and their opponents far surpassed them in deadly combat experience.

How could a captive lion face one that had defended its territory from powerful enemies? The gap in strength between them became increasingly evident, and the knights were pushed aside, unable to properly defend the carriage while trying to exterminate their attackers. Meanwhile, the two masked men reached the carriage.

Two swords gleamed coldly, showing in just a few seconds the death emanating from their bodies. The magnificent roof of Haldor's carriage was destroyed, pieces of gold-plated wood flying through the air. Under the dark sky and the somber rain, this scene was stained with tragedy.

At the same time, a blue flash shone as the black swords that had been shot towards the carriage emerged back like a venomous snake seeking its prey, targeting the hearts of the two assassins who stood atop the carriage.

Boom! Boom!

With the flash of these swords, the sounds of cutting flesh and a thunderous buzz were heard all around. Neither of the two assassins could stop the projectiles aimed at their hearts, and they were killed without knowing who had struck them down. But as their eyes scanned the surroundings, they saw a young man with white hair streaked with black and blue eyes, looking at them without any expression on his face, as if their attempt to kill him had not disturbed his heart.

At the same time, a not-so-tall figure appeared on a distant rooftop where the battle was taking place. This figure was dressed in simple clothes, as if the aesthetic of the nobility in this kingdom was not to their liking when it came to dressing.

"What trash; they didn't even realize I was no longer in the carriage," murmured Haldor, who had witnessed the deaths of those two assassins he had killed without even being close.

However, at that moment, Haldor's eyes spotted a small figure running in the distance with a horrible wound over their left eye. Two men in black snorted as they chased the child, running for their lives.

Peng!

At that moment, the child running for their life fell to the ground hard, and mud stained their face. It was obvious that the child was being pursued by those assassins because they didn't want to leave any witnesses.

In such a moment, no matter how talented a person is, a beggar could end your life before you could bloom into a beautiful flower. But Haldor had seen the light in that child's eyes, showing a desire to live, so since this was caused by him, he would save the child's life.

Haldor leaned his body slightly forward, and with one step, he disappeared and reappeared in front of the child. The long swords heading for the child stopped in midair, and long ice spears emerged from the ground without anyone noticing.

"Ahhh!!!"

"Just now, I wondered how pigs squealed before being slaughtered, but their squeals are much more pitiful than those of those poor animals." Haldor's voice reached the assassins' ears. They tried to escape the chains, but as they exerted their strength, the ice spears pressed harder against their bodies.

Moreover, as these assassins tried to gather more strength, the spears froze their bodies and crushed their muscles until they were completely torn apart. No wonder this was Haldor's most reliable treasure, which he cherished greatly for its significance to him.

"The Northern Star has taken action!!!"

That sudden cry, accompanied by that statement, confused the assassins fighting to approach the carriage. How could Haldor suddenly appear in the opposite direction of their attack? However, that confusion turned into a sense of urgency, and those not in combat headed in that direction.

Right after that cry, a group of figures leapt between the buildings and located Haldor, who was crouched in front of a child.

"We've got you!"

All they needed was to stab their sword into the consort's heart and end this unnecessarily prolonged battle. The men in black were first-class assassins, all working under a single order: to eliminate the consort, known as the Northern Star, at all costs.

The hearts and feelings of these figures in black were as dark as hell itself; everything they did was devoid of emotion. However, their target was a mage, so their gazes differed from those of other targets.

At that moment, everyone's attention focused on Haldor, who was merely giving his back to his enemies as if they didn't pose a real threat to kill him. Therefore, no one noticed that a thin layer of ice had spread over the ground and that several sharp points were slowly appearing.

Crack! Crack! Crack!

Dozens of long ice spears appeared and pierced the bodies of these assassins, leaving them suspended in the air.

After remaining motionless for a few seconds, the spears suspended in the air were also launched, leaving the assassins beheaded.

"Isn't perception important in their line of work as assassins?" murmured Haldor, calmly observing the frozen blood.

If they wanted to kill him, they'd need something more than this and would have to gamble with their lives.
