Mary was carried back by Dante. Eden was with her, making sure she doesn't slip.
When they returned, Florence quickly arranged a spare room. Alice helped her fill it with hay, to act as a blanket over the cold stone floor. The room had a window on the side and a fireplace to thaw the coldness of the nights. She smiled to herself. Finally, she could give her friends the shelter, food, and warmth they needed.
Mary was made to lay down on the hay bed immediately, the others surrounding her. Lola and Livvy perched on the windowsill, Kiki restlessly climbed all over her, and Alice quietly held her hand again.
"I'll check on you tomorrow," Sirius told her. "You should rest."
He leaves first.
Florence came in after with a bowl of fruits. She warily glanced at the group of animals, but her smile was similar to the smile she offered on the day of Alice's arrival.
"I hope Lady Alice's friends can settle in well here."
