Chapter 50: Pokémon Drivers

Heath stared blankly at the Chansey in front of him, sitting in the driver's seat, gripping the steering wheel with a nervous expression.

The car was speeding towards Heath at an alarming rate. He began to suspect that the Chansey might intentionally try to crash into him just to demonstrate its advanced healing abilities.

Seeing the Chansey getting closer and the terrified Nurse Snow sitting next to it, Heath recognized this particular Nurse Snow.

"Hopefully, this car has an automatic avoidance system," Heath sighed. He couldn't drive, so what could he do?

Luckily, the automatic driving feature of his mobile food truck worked well, steering away from the speeding Chansey. Heath let out a sigh of relief; he didn't want to test the toughness of his truck.

"It's coming back!" Zorua screamed. Heath instinctively looked back and saw the familiar scene again.

The Chansey, somehow mismanaging the car, spun around and charged at Heath again. If it weren't for Nurse Snow's face turning pale with fright, Heath might have thought he had a grudge against this Chansey.

"Snow, you and Chansey failed this exam. How can you drive an ambulance like that?" a familiar voice said, and Heath's face turned pale—it was Officer Jana.

Fortunately, Jana's timely intervention stopped the charging Chansey, and Heath's truck also came to a halt. He realized he had arrived at the driving school.

"I'm so sorry... Hey, is that Heath?" Nurse Snow, pale and apologetic, climbed out of the car and ran over to Heath, constantly apologizing until she recognized him, showing a surprised expression.

"Nurse Snow, you are quite something," Heath didn't know what to say. His first experience being chased by a Pokémon driving a car was thrilling.

"Oh dear, little Heath, are you disappointed? If I had known, I would have helped you, let you get hit by the car, and then have Snow use her little hands to help you~" Jana teasingly put her arm around Heath's neck.

Heath stiffened. This troublemaker was doing this on purpose! As soon as she got out of the car, she started with her teasing, and now it was accelerating.

"Did you get hurt anywhere, Heath?" Nurse Snow, not understanding Jana's innuendo, looked worriedly at Heath.

Heath quickly waved his hand. Nurse Snow was very pure-hearted, but she was also a highly skilled medical professional, renowned in Viridian City. Her Chansey was also very capable.

There had even been news reports of Nurse Snow and her Chansey working together to save a Pokémon hit by a train, a Pokémon that had been given little chance of survival.

But now, Heath realized that Nurse Snow and her Chansey had something they couldn't do—drive.

Based on Jana's words, Heath understood why Nurse Snow and her Chansey were here; they were planning to drive the ambulance themselves.

"Jana, Maple sent me to learn driving. Could you take me there?" Heath smiled at Jana, blocking her teasing attempts, and she instantly understood his meaning.

"Hmph, you little tattletale, one day I'll eat you alive," Jana grumbled but couldn't help but gulp when she thought of the stern Maple.

After bidding farewell to the embarrassed Nurse Snow, Heath followed Jana into the driving school. Viridian City's driving school was quite large and had many students, including not only humans but also Pokémon.

Chansey, Machoke, and Kadabra were among the Pokémon diligently learning. Heath found it normal for Pokémon to learn driving.

Chansey were mostly monopolized by the Joy family, likely learning to drive ambulances. Machoke, learning to drive, were probably aiming to become moving company drivers, handling both driving and moving tasks.

As for Kadabra, Heath thought they were probably there out of curiosity and a desire to learn new things. For these psychic Pokémon, new knowledge was always exciting, and Kadabra were very versatile Pokémon.

Some Kadabra even became taxi drivers, known for their smooth driving. Heath knew of an Alakazam working as a pilot for Kanto Airlines, never having had an accident and flying very steadily.

Some Alakazam even became directors, making award-winning movies and TV shows in the Kanto region, much to the chagrin of less skilled directors.

"To learn driving, you need to pay attention to the size of the headlights and whether the exhaust pipe is lubricated," Jana started with her innuendo again, making Heath silently take out his phone to report to Maple.

"No, I'm sorry!" Jana quickly covered Heath's phone, then smiled and leaned closer.

"Little Heath~ if you want, I can make you an adult~" she whispered into his ear in an embarrassingly seductive voice.

"You're quite bold, Jana," a cold voice said, making Jana freeze. She stiffly turned around and saw Maple, arms crossed, giving her a look that could make anyone want to wear a parka in summer. Cold sweat appeared on Jana's forehead.

"Run five laps around the driving school!" Maple ordered, and Jana immediately took off, running away with a resentful look.

Heath couldn't help but laugh at Jana's back. This woman was too brazen, but thankfully, Maple was there. Who knows what Heath might have gone through otherwise.

"Hmph, bad woman, trying to take my... No, that woman is bad," Zorua grumbled on Heath's shoulder, glaring at Jana's back.

Since earlier, Zorua had been muttering in Heath's mind about how bad Jana was, nearly driving him crazy.

"Let's go, Heath. I'll take you to the classroom for the first module. Study hard, no cheating. Though I trust you wouldn't cheat," Maple smiled at Heath and waved.

Heath laughed; Maple really knew him well.
