Chapter 118: Castle's Plan

Castle wasn't joking. Having seen the original series, he knew exactly why Kate Moreau, Neal's girlfriend, suddenly broke up with him while he was still in prison and then disappeared. He also knew that the man behind it all was Vincent Adler, who orchestrated everything to find the German U-boat that sank off the coast of New York in 1945, loaded with treasures.

The last meeting with Neal didn't trigger a system side quest, so Castle temporarily shelved the matter. But now that Neal Caffrey had started his consultancy role at the FBI, it might just trigger the side quest if they met again.

Therefore, Castle decided to lend a hand to his old friend. After all, even before he transmigrated, he liked Neal from the series "White Collar." Despite hearing later that Matt Bomer, the actor playing Neal, came out as gay, it didn't affect his affection for the character in this new world.

In this strange, fusion world without extraordinary powers but still full of vibrancy, Castle had developed a sense of belonging after revealing everything to Adam before his death. To make his future more exciting, he needed to cherish these friends.

So, he thought of enlisting Barry Street's KING to find Neal's girlfriend, Kate. With KING's help, locating Kate, who was desperately hiding her whereabouts to avoid dragging Neal down, would be a piece of cake.

Facing Mozzie's mixed expressions of surprise and joy, Castle seriously confirmed, "Yes, Mozzie, you know the underground emperor of Barry Street, KING, right? I can ask him for help!"

Mozzie was stunned by Castle's words, "What did you say? You can connect with New York's king of underground intelligence? Why haven't you mentioned this before? Rick, are you serious? That's KING!!!"

Castle finally had his moment to show off, "For reasons I can't explain, I can get KING's help. So, I suggested helping Neal find Kate. But this has to be with Neal's consent, even if I mean well. What do you think?"

Mozzie, already excited, stood up, "Rick, if I tell Neal what you said, he'll be thrilled. Of course, he'll agree to your help! He took the consultant job at the FBI to get out of prison and find Kate. Knowing you can easily find her will make him ecstatic!"

Castle was glad Mozzie agreed with his proposal. He cheerfully reassured the excited Mozzie, "Alright, Mozzie, go find Neal and tell him the news. Let him decide if he wants my help. Then call me, or I can visit Neal's new place to discuss it."

"Beep... beep... beep." As Castle and Mozzie were planning to find Neal together, Castle's phone rang. Seeing that it was Beckett calling, Castle knew it was likely that they had identified the real name of the female assassin, Carla Dante, who had infiltrated Dr. Joshua's clinic under the name Maggie Daudet.

Signaling Mozzie that he needed to take the call, Castle stood up and answered.

As soon as he answered, Beckett's excited voice came through, "Castle, your hunch was right again. The head nurse and the male nurse named Juan at Dr. Joshua's clinic are clean, but the nurse named Maggie Daudet is not the real person. The real Maggie is still in North Carolina!

We're planning to arrest her now. What do you think?"

Hearing Beckett say they were ready to arrest Carla Dante, Castle quickly stopped her, "Wait, Beckett. You only have evidence of her identity theft, not her connection to Dr. Joshua's murder. Remember, all our suspicions are without proof! Arresting her now will only get her for identity theft."

Castle's reminder brought Beckett back to her senses. Right, they only had evidence of identity theft, not enough to charge Maggie with Dr. Joshua's murder. The existing evidence could only accuse the impostor of identity theft, not the murder.

Realizing this, Beckett, knowing Castle must have a plan, asked him to come to the precinct to discuss how to capture the murderer and make her confess.

After hanging up, Castle, with a strange smile, returned to the café, bid Mozzie farewell, and arranged to visit Neal's new place later to discuss finding Kate. Then, he leisurely headed to the 12th precinct.

As soon as Castle stepped out of the elevator, a restless Beckett rushed over, "You were right. The nurse using Maggie Daudet's name joined Dr. Joshua's clinic about a month ago, but we don't know where she is now. We don't have enough evidence for a warrant, and even if we find her, we can't link her to Dr. Joshua's death. You have a plan, right? Otherwise, you wouldn't be so calm!"

Castle, not yet greeting Esposito and Ryan, was caught off guard by Beckett's rapid questioning. He quickly reassured her, "Yes, I have a plan to catch her, and we might even catch her red-handed."

Beckett, delighted to hear Castle had a plan, grabbed his arm and sat him down at her desk, eagerly asking, "Quick, what's your plan? You know, this nurse is likely the killer. She's extremely dangerous. If we can catch her quickly, it will ease the pressure on Candice, and she'll owe us a favor!"

Understanding Beckett's urgency, Castle knew this wasn't the time for ego. Without hesitation, he explained his plan to Beckett, Esposito, and Ryan.

"This nurse infiltrated Dr. Joshua's clinic under a false name, clearly to confirm that Dr. Joshua performed plastic surgery on Jimmy the Rat. But she didn't get Jimmy's latest hideout from Dr. Joshua. So, why would she stay at the clinic for a week after his death?"

Castle's question cooled Beckett's urgency slightly. She was actually a competent investigator. Today, however, all leads and investigation directions had come from Castle, leading her to rely on him. But that didn't mean she was incompetent.

After pondering for a moment, Beckett shared her thoughts, "You mean she still wants to complete her task by finding Jimmy through the clinic? She's staying to find Jimmy?"

"Exactly!" Castle agreed, elaborating his plan, "We can call the clinic, saying a patient who had plastic surgery with Dr. Joshua wants a follow-up, preferably using the police's name. Your investigation didn't alert the clinic staff, right? They don't know we're suspecting the nurse?"

"As long as the clinic staff doesn't know, the nurse, unaware she's exposed, will likely appear to confirm if the returning patient is Jimmy. If she sees someone resembling Jimmy, she'll think it's him and seize the chance to act.

Remember, Jimmy had plastic surgery, so he wouldn't look the same. As long as the body matches, the fake nurse is likely to fall for it."

After Castle laid out his plan, he waited for Beckett, who was now considering its feasibility. Castle knew that if Beckett agreed, they could follow through with the plan and catch the nurse.
