Hard scheduling

Not surprisingly, in the course of the next days, Mia barely saw Yuzuru.

As news of his presence in Toronto was made public knowledge, it was easy to tell that everyone wanted something from him and it was really hard to act normally in this type of situation.

They would wave at each other from the distance with gentle smiles and just hope that other opportunities arose.

And they were rare, mostly only allowing them for a few seconds of conversations and hidden smiles that couldn't describe what both of them felt.

At the nights, he would casually text her every now and then.

Most of the time they only spoke about their days and plans. Mia could tell that Yuzu was sick of the meetings that he had to attend via video call, but it was equally understanding that the skater had to keep everything in check while visiting Toronto.

All of this was only a problem when the dreaded day of his flight started approaching.

On Saturday night, Mia opened her messages to reply to his Good night wishes with her own when she decided to act.

'You better have your schedule clear for tomorrow. I don't care when, but I want to see you before you go.' she texted, not caring if it was too straightforward.

'Dinner?' he texted back almost right away, as if he was already with his phone in hand.

'Sounds good to me. You know where my place is.'

'Don't cook, I'll order something.'

'you hate my cooking so much?'

'No. I love your cooking. I just want to spend more time with you.'

'Good save... Feel free to come by whenever you want. We will be at home.'

'Ok. See you tomorrow. Goodnight.'

A sigh of relief left her. Mia almost thought he was going to leave without saying anything and that would be far too painful to deal with.

She found herself nervous the next day, not really sure about what to do as she waited for the presence of the man that haunted both her dreams and nightmares.

It was a special skill, certainly. The power that Yuzuru had made her crumble to pieces without even trying.

In a way, she was thankful for not having to cook tonight, fully knowing that she would be overthinking it until the very last minute.

Still, not having to cook meant that she had nothing to do while waiting and Mia was sure that this was far worse for her overreactive body.

There was just too much anticipation going through her, little bursts of electricity every time she remembered him and the plans for today.

Alex had been doing homework through the afternoon and Mia eventually settled with her laptop in front of her going through the last cases of the firm she had been working with in the past month.

Most of her work was in Corporate Law, even if she initially started in Immigration. The bad cases she saw on the latter made her change her path a little bit and the money that came with working in business wasn't necessarily bad either.

Mia hated the boring cases, filled with too much corruption and occasional sexual harassment complaints, but it paid the bills and that's what matters when you have a child to support.

Once the lawyer dove into work, hours just flew by, even quicker than she could've accounted for.

The ring of the doorbell came too suddenly, making her jump in the living room chair.

Mia hadn't realized it, but it was already 7 pm and the person outside could only be him.

She suddenly looked down at her body and noticed she was still wearing her nightgown, panicking immediately at the stupid idea to change later.

"Mommy? You're not going to answer the door?"

"Yeah, yeah. Of course."

Well, to hell with it.

The woman just stood up and went to the door, opening it to find the handsome Japanese in black jeans and a shirt, a far different look from what she was used to seeing on him.

Not that she minded at all.

They had barely said hello to each other before his eyes traveled down on her body, widening slightly as he noticed the thin material of her nightgown, which was also far shorter than it should have been for the occasion.

Red filled her cheeks, a phenomenon that seemed to be common when he graced her with his presence and Mia stutted a small greeting and apologies.

"Sorry, I was working and barely noticed the time... I'll change in a minute."

He seemed to take a few seconds to grasp her words before smiling softly.

"It's your house, Mia. You can wear whatever you want. It doesn't bother me."

"No?"

Yuzuru gulped and his eyes did another once over on her and seemingly changed his mind.

"Maybe it's better if you change... Huh... Just so...I... Yeah, it's better if you change."

"Yeah."

"I brought something for you" he said before showing her a small bouquet of pink and white carnations and placing them on her hand.

"I didn't have to bring anything. They are beautiful..."

"I wanted to."

And Mia couldn't help but hug him close, completely dismissing her current outfit and just taking what she wanted so badly.

He wasn't making this any easier.

It was only then that Alex noticed Yuzuru's presence and called for him, making the skater notice the boy in the middle of his books.

"Yuzuru!"

"Hey, Alex. What are you up to?"

"Maths... I hate maths."

"I'm starting to think you hate everything besides skating."

"See! He understands!" The boy said looking straight at his mom.

Yuzuru chuckled as he saw Mia getting ready to go upstairs and change.

"I'll be right back. What will we order?"

"Whatever you want."

"You can order Japanese, we both like it a lot."

"That's settled then. Take all the time you need, I will make the call."
