General Medical Checkup

Two more months had passed, and now things were getting more intense on the radio. Anton moved on to the final phase, which was compiling materials, thus spending all his money in that way. These materials would serve him in the future to make renovations and allow the hired team to continue building houses.

Early in the morning, Dominic headed to the nearest hospital to get a full-body checkup. He didn't want to have any conditions in the future. Being healthy is long-term survival; at least he wanted to know that.

He also visited the dentist; it turned out he had more cavities than he could see, and they ended up doing several consultations that ensured a spectacular result. The thing is, he was very uncomfortable in the following weeks, but it was all about getting used to it when you know the end of the world is near.

"Breathe deeply."

Dominic took a deep breath as the nurse instructed him; she was gathering the easiest data while waiting for the results of other tests.

"Do you feel unwell?" The nurse looked at Dominic, who had been silent until now.

"Not particularly; I just wanted to come in for a checkup to make sure I don't have any hidden illnesses. Since my mother's death, I haven't visited a hospital for a full-body checkup, but now that I had time, I wanted to do it." Dominic's words were very calm, a profile that anyone his age would have.

The nurse smiled, nodded, and said, "You can get dressed now; the results will be out in a few hours, so you can go for a walk in the meantime. Have something to eat; the other tests that required fasting have finished."

Dominic nodded. First, he went to the bathroom because he needed to wash his face, so he walked around in the patient gown. "It's not common to see me like this; it seems I have some good looks behind my tough expression."

For those more knowledgeable, they would say Dominic has a hunter's gaze, someone with a strong character that makes him not depend on anyone and always take the initiative.

It's good to learn some similar things; at least that way, time passes in a better way. But now, with things getting even more dangerous, Dominic knew the least he had to do was spend time in this hospital.

"Come on, form a smile." Dominic had had very bad dreams; this was supposed to have stopped happening to him some years ago, but they returned when he started killing people.

To adapt, this was the right thing to do, but certainly, the repercussions were something Dominic also had to be prepared for.

The world of the future requires strong people who do not hesitate to kill. He needed to be a skilled warrior if he wanted to protect Emma from the evil world that awaited them.

When he got a second chance at life, Dominic expected something calmer, but this far exceeded all his expectations. "I guess no sane person would ever smile, knowing that the world will be very messed up later."

"Aaaaahhhhh!"

"Let me go!"

"We all have to run; the dead are coming."

Dominic was alarmed. Were they walking dead in the hospital? It can't be; he doesn't remember anything similar to what he had seen about the future of this world.

"They eat humans; look at guts everywhere."

But when Dominic came out of the bathroom, he could see that Nick Clark himself was being carried by several doctors and nurses while tied to a stretcher.

When he saw this, Dominic had a déjà vu because he knew perfectly well now in which timeline he was. If everything is correct, the world will start to spiral out of control in the next twenty-four hours.

Knowing what would happen, Dominic took his cell phone and called Tobias. "When the plan starts, the evacuation of the doctors and their families is the priority."

"You should also go to the shelter as soon as possible; it seems things will start to get ugly from now on." Dominic knew he needed to act on the next plans he had made to have good people by his side.

But now was not the time; he wanted to flow with the events he had seen on TV before, so he walked to the room where Nick was being treated.

Without bothering anyone, Dominic sat on an untouched wheelchair next to him and watched everything unfold before his eyes as if it were a movie.

"Damn it, everything is real." Dominic murmured these words as he saw everything unfolding just as he remembered.
