Cunning Lucius

Images of his fight with Ethan flooded Lucius's mind. After the battle, he could remember stabbing his hand into Ethan's heart, pulling out his heart, which was a blue heart with Aether crystals growing off them. He consumed his heart, then noticed that the noise created from their battle had attracted Ralph's attention and that of the soldiers under his supervision.

Lucius stabbed himself with his claws in the chest and forcefully stopped his regeneration ability, he collapsed beside Ethan and passed out after bleeding profusely. 

….

Lucius's eyes opened, and he realized he was in a cylinder tank filled with green liquid. On his chest were nanobots rapidly working to seal the hole on his chest.

[That was a reckless move! Harming yourself and stopping your regenerative power made you bleed out. If Ralph found you a minute later, you would have died!] Lyxor complained.

'I killed Ethan Carter… This is the only option I had to throw off suspicion on me. I needed to create a scene that would confuse Moon, the one who ordered my death.' Lucius responded weakly.

[True… You should focus on resting for now. You need it] Lyxor said.

Lucius wanted to respond but he felt too dizzy. His vision was slowly fading away and thoughts were jumbled.

Huff!

Lucius slowly opened his eyes but this time he was lying on a hospital bed.

"Ouch." He muttered as he sat up, rubbing his hand on his temple.

Thud.

He heard footsteps and looked in the direction only to see a lady in a lab coat and Moon speed walking towards him.

"You are finally awake." The Lady said excitedly. "How do you feel?" 

"Like I got hit by a truck." Lucius responded weakly and she laughed.

After a moment, Lucius' eyes widened, and he reached for Moon's hand with a look of urgency in his eyes.

"Mr. Ethan! Is he okay?" Lucius said with worry.

Moon was taken aback by this and needed some time to recover before responding.

"Tell me what happened." He said in a calm voice.

Lucius nodded and slowly withdrew his hand. 

"I can remember searching another building, wondering why I haven't found even one citizen or at least corpses. I felt it was strange there was no one in the sector and then Mr Ethan flew into the room." Lucius paused to catch his breath.

"I thought he had something important to tell me, but before he could speak, something jumped into the room. I couldn't make sense of its shape because it was too fast, but its body emitted dazzling blue light." Lucius shivered while recounting the story.

"Before I could react, it drove its claw into my chest." Lucius's hand instinctively reached for his chest. "I couldn't move. I couldn't say a word. I just laid there bleeding out while listening to the sound of battle."

"Mr. Ethan won, right?" Lucius shifted his attention to the nurse.

Moon frowned deeply and let out a weak sigh.

"Just as we suspected. His injuries were from a beast. It's safe to say he was attacked by an evolved beast." The lady ignored Lucius's question and turned to Moon.

"Yea. Even the marks on the walls belonged to a beast." Moon nodded, referring to the marks created when Lucius was bouncing off the walls.

"But why was he there? Why did he enter the building when it would hinder his mobility? Why did he remove his body cam?" The lady had so many questions.

The last question made Moon jolt, but he did well to hide his reaction and maintain his poker face.

"He probably went in there to warn Lucius about the beast. As for the last question, we will never find out now he is dead." Moon shrugged.

"He's dead?" Lucius yelped with shock.

Moon could only sigh while nodding. He sent Ethan to kill Lucius, yet the boy was still alive while Ethan was dead.

This kid's luck was just too good!

"Hey, you have been unconscious for the past three days. We will inform your friends and have them bring some food over. For now, you should just focus on recovering." The lady patted his shoulder before leaving the room with Moon.

[You are the devil. You can't tell me otherwise, and don't give me that crap about me creating you.] Lyxor said.

'The world made me this way. They are the reason, my parents and sister died, now they will feel my pain.' Lucius shrugged.

'Arch Angel?' Lucius asked.

[The Devour ability does not only steal abilities, but it also models it to suit your personality.] Lyxor explained 

'This explains why I used the Hand Of God to absorb Aether fumes during the battle, it turned the blue mist purple.' Lucius muttered.

[Exactly. By changing its looks, it would be hard to trace the ability back to you.]
