Research on the Development of Ancient Witchcraft

Andy pulled the book from the shelf and flipped to the part that he had read last night and continued to browse through it.

The Collins family was not an ancient renowned wizard family, according to the genealogy, the earliest wizards of the family appeared two centuries ago.

According to the current argument, the Collins family could be considered a half-blood wizard family.

Therefore, the family did not have many grimoires, the vast majority of the books were mass-market items that could be purchased in bookshops. The few unique books were also obtained by his ancestors from their friends.

If the spells were not cast skilfully, or if they lost control of their emotions, it could even result in a situation where the magic would storm out of control.

"So... emotional control is important for casting spells?"

"Or perhaps... mind and will?"

Andy's gaze shifted to the side, and the quill on the desk slowly flew under the interference of his strong will.

As early as a few years ago, Andy could already do this kind of thing skilfully.

At the very beginning, Andy thought that he was one of those one-in-a-million magic geniuses and that as soon as he learnt how to cast spells, he would be able to step on Voldemort's back and punch Dumbledore.

But this idea was eventually ridiculed severely by his Mum Helen.

The most crucial reason why Andy could perform spellcasting easily was because the young wizard's magic power was not stable enough.

As he grew older, Andy also found that his 'wandless spell casting' became more and more difficult. Every time he concentrated his intention on trying to perform magic, there would be a strong feeling of sluggishness.

However, Andy had been consciously working on his 'wandless spell casting' technique, even though it had become increasingly difficult.

According to Helen's explanation, this feeling of sluggishness appeared mainly because Andy's magic power had gradually stabilised, and the emotions when casting spells were not strong enough.

When he gets a wand in the future, it will become much easier for Andy to cast spells again.

And this same argument, Andy also found it in the book as well.

"So is that how Obscurus was born as well?"

In the book "Research on the Development of Ancient Witchcraft", there was a full chapter on the introduction of Obscurial.

According to the book: when wizard children were forced to suppress their magic power due to physical or psychological mistreatment and thus forced to suppress their magic power, they would become extremely emotionally disturbed, thus creating a dark parasitic magical power known as 'Obscurus'.

When the Obscurial reaches a point of emotional and mental collapse, they lose control of their body and then release their 'Obscurus'.

The book said that the power of the Obscurus is extremely violent and uncontrollable.

"So, emotions - or mental power - can be fused with magical power, thus making it stronger?"

However, according to the book "Research on the Development of Ancient Witchcraft", the Obscurus would only be born in young wizards under the age of ten, and they wouldn't live past the age of ten.

Because, when the young wizards were older than ten years old, the magic power in their bodies became relatively stable, so no matter how strong the emotions were, they wouldn't be able to give birth to an Obscurus.

"The fusion of mind power and magic power can be used as a research topic in the future."

The current system seemed to be of no help to Andy, but the data on it allowed Andy to better understand his abilities.

On the data on the right side of the system, there were five attributes namely magic, soul, mind, thinking, and will.   

Leaving aside magic and soul, according to the system's division, mind, thinking, and will were clearly three different kinds of power.

"Forget about the Mind, the Will - does that relate to some sort of magical defences? For example, the Cruciatus Curse and the Imperius Curse?"

Andy continued to flip through the book.

Regarding the chapter on Obscurial, Andy had already read it several times in quick succession. After determining that there was no missing information, Andy continued to read the later contents.

Half an hour later, Andy closed the book.

"Rubbish book!"

Ancient magic and modern magic were two completely different subjects, and the explanation of ancient magic in this book was completely an introduction to the 'history of development', with no substantive content at all.

Hmm! This is in fact a history book that has nothing to do with magic in the slightest.

"Someone's coming?"

Andy looked out of the window trying to relax his eyes, but he saw a small black dot appear on a distant hill, which was rapidly approaching in the direction of his house and gradually became clearer.

"Oh my goodness, it's him again!" Andy was a little worried.

The acquaintance with Ron Weasley was definitely a major mistake for Andy in his future planning.

Four hills were separating the Weasleys' and Collins' homes, and while Andy had ridden around on a child's version flying broom to visit his neighbours, the Weasleys' were naturally no exception.

What Andy just didn't expect was that the Weasleys' had a brat the same age as himself.

Well, Andy was actually a bit surprised at first, after all, Ron was a character in the original Harry Potter film and one of the main trio.

Ron in the first part of the films is still very likeable, especially given his self-sacrifice at the chess game level.

However, once Andy became familiar with Ron - that is to say, after a few words - Andy preferred that he had never known this person.

Because there was absolutely nothing in common between them!

Andy wanted to chat with Ron about magic, after all, Weasley was a renowned wizard family with a long heritage in the wizarding world - even though they had fallen from grace now, the family's collection of grimoires would never be taken out to be sold for money.

But Ron always wanted to talk to Andy about Quidditch, or it was just some wild bragging nonsense.

If he was really eleven, Andy wouldn't mind becoming friends with Ron, but Andy wasn't really eleven after all.

In just a moment of reminiscing, Ron had landed in front of the Collins' house on a child's version flying broom.

"Andy!" Ron looked up and waved at Andy, who was standing in front of the window.

"Hold on, I'll come downstairs and open the door for you."

Placing the book back on the shelf, Andy sighed and ran all the way downstairs with a thud.

In his previous life, Andy was a muggle, so Andy had an almost fanatical passion for magic.

But Ron was clearly different.

He was just an ordinary kid in the wizarding world.

It was almost similar to Andy's previous life, where everyone knew that technology and science were amazing, but learning mathematics and science was similarly a heavenly ordeal.

Then again, perhaps it was also because Ron was born in the magical world that he only had Andy as his young wizard friend of the same age.
