Chapter 6: Newt Scamander & London

Still standing on the street with Newt on her side, Annie wondered how this would turn out. She was curious to know what it would be like to be involved in the wizarding world. Back home she would think what it would be like were she truly a part of the magical world. Back then, she didn't know that it was real, so she denied all those thoughts of hers. Now, here she was.

Swinging his hand towards the suitcase, Newt let it fall on the ground, and with a swing of his wand, the suitcase opened.

There was an uncomfortable silence as Annie stared back and forth at the suitcase and Newt.

"Ladies first.", Newt smiled uncomfortably at her.

Annie could only see pitch-black darkness. She looked back at him, demanding an explanation.

"Just jump, the suitcase is big enough to let you in. Don't worry, it's completely safe. You'll see for yourself.", Newt explained.

Annie knew from having seen the "Fantastic Beasts" movies more than a couple of times that whenever Newt said there was nothing to worry about it turned out to have the exact opposite effect on the other person or thing involved. But she had to see for herself.

'Okay. Take a deep breath. And chill, after all, you have a good wizard next to you.' Annie thought to herself.

She looked at Newt one last time, took a step, and jumped towards the inside of the suitcase. She was falling, the wind blowing in her face. She let out a silent scream and despite her fear of heights dared to look down. There was light coming in from down. Annie closed her eyes and let the wind carry her.

PUFF

Her back hurt from the impact of the hard ground. She opened back her eyes and looked around. In front of her spread out a forest, so big she could not where it ended.

Next to her Newt, fell to the ground.

She looked at him with a sour expression while massaging her back.

Newt cleared his throat uncomfortably and said, "You will get used to it. Let's go see how the babies are."

Annie sighed and followed him into the big forest after shaking her head helplessly.

After walking for a couple of minutes in the trees, they came across a meadow.

And, an unbelievable scene unfolded.

All of the beasts had gathered together as if to welcome her into their home.

"What?!", Annie blurted out in shock.

Newt gazed upon this scene in wonder.

A bowtruckle, diricaw, flooper, two nifflers (probably Teddy's relatives), and a Hungarian Horntail. They looked at her and instantly gathered around in a circle as if sending an invitation to be petted.

Looking in wonder, Annie went down on her knees smiling lovingly at the magical creatures.

"I knew there was something special about you", Newt said, hand on his chin, as if he was concentrating on a thought while observing her.

"Let's look them up now, they were left on their own for a couple of days. I had some urgent business to see to."

Annie moved to let him in between the creatures.

She had to pay attention, after all, she was the one who was going to help take care of them.

In 30 minutes, Newt had looked at almost all of them.

However, the Hungarian Horntail stood with somewhat a crooked posture.

"Something's wrong with him, you should check him more thoroughly", Annie looked at Newt with worry.

After looking around the Horntail's body, he tilted his head and frowned a little.

"His leg is wounded. I need to make him an antidote, but I don't have the products in here. I'll go to London to buy the products. It's best you stay here and take care of the others."

"Huh? What?", Annie didn't quite catch half of the things Newt said due to how fast he spoke.

"Hold on. Where are you going?" She asked while following him to his shack office.

"I said," Newt repeated while grabbing things from his office hurriedly, "I need to make an antidote for his wounded leg. I don't have the materials here but I know where they are. I just have to go to London. I would find all of the things I need there."

"And, you...", Newt turned to her and asked, "Would you stay here and look after them while I'm gone?"

Annie thought for a few seconds and replied, "No!"

"Huh?", Newt looked at her in confusion.

"No.," Annie clarified, "I mean, I would love to take care of the others, but I want to come with you. I would be with you all of the time. and, both of us know you aren't going anywhere without the suitcase. Plus, I've never seen London before. I would get to see London and take care of the beasts while you are away on dangerous missions."

"Uhh..", Newt looked unconvinced.

"Please!", She looked at him with her sad puppy eyes.

Newt stared at her for a few seconds until he sighed and said, "Okay then. But whatever I say, you need to do it without hesitation. I would be held responsible if anything happened to you. I don't want you to get hurt. Especially, after what you've been through."

It must've worked.

She smiled and nodded. "I promise, Newt. I would behave like an obedient kid."

"Good!"

He took his hand at hers and everything became black again…

PFEEW

Annie's legs touched the ground this time, thankfully, without her almost breaking her ass apart.

They were standing in an overcrowded square. The buildings around had a neoclassical vibe, drawing a difference from New York with its skyscrapers and modern buildings. The sky was cloudy. It was probably going to rain any minute but people kept walking as if it was just an ordinary day in good ol' London. Maybe that's why Londoners have moods as gray as their skies.

"Wow!", Annie's mouth was wide open in amazement and she looked around with a smile on her face. Her eyes turned to the skies and she saw the clouds. She loved rainy weather and was almost going to jump with excitement when Newt tapped on her back.

"You can leave the gazing for later. We've got important things to do."
