"He really grows on you, doesn't he?" Banner said after he watched the conversation between Fury and Loki using the cameras, he was on the bridge with Steve and Natasha sitting at a table and Thor standing on the opposite side of the table. Harry had arrived just in time to hear the conversation, he wore black trainers, blue jeans, and grey shirt under an open zipped black hoodie. Harry had chosen to to stand in a corner and lean on against a wall, making sure to keep his eyes on everyone. His eyes usually went back between Thor and Bruce as they were both considered the biggest threats in the room.
"Loki's going to drag this out, Thor, what's his play?" Steve asked Thor, seeing as Thor knew Loki better than any of them.
"He has an army, called the Chitauri." Thor replied. "they are not of Asgard, or of any world known. He means to lead them against your people, they will win him the Earth, in return I suspect for the tesseract."
"An army?" Steve repeated, looking less than pleased. "From out of space?"
"So he's building another portal," Banner replied. "that's what he needed Erik Selvig for."
"Selvig?" Thor asked.
"He's an astrophysicist."
"He's a friend." Thor frowned.
"Loki has him under some spell, along with one of ours." Natasha said, looking down. Harry knew that she was worried about Barton, the two were close friends, so much so that many who did not know about Barton's wife thought that they were a couple or would be a couple.
"I want to know why Loki let us take him, he's not leading an army from here." Steve said.
"You're not the only one," Harry agreed with Steve's line of thought. "he has a plan, that much is obvious."
"I don't think we should be focusing on Loki," Banner replied. "that guy's brain is a bag full of cats, you can smell crazy on him."
"Yeah but being crazy, annoying and homicidal does not mean mean he's an idiot." Harry argued.
"Have care how you speak," Thor said. "Loki is beyond reason but he is of Asgard and he is my brother."
"He killed eighty people in two days." Natasha gave Thor a look that clearly said 'well, are you going to defend that?'.
"He's adopted." Thor admitted.
"I can kill more than that in a single hour." Harry reminded Natasha.
"Are you saying it's a competition?" She raised an eyebrow at him.
"Merely saying we shouldn't judge people by their body count."
"I think it's about the mechanics," Bruce spoke, bringing the conversation back on track. "iridium, what does he need the iridium for?" He asked.
"It's a stabilizing agent," Tony's voice said as Tony arrived along with Coulson, Tony was now wearing a regular suit, "look pick a weekend, I'll fly you out to see her, keep love alive." Tony whispered to Coulson just before Coulson gave him an embarrassed but pleased nod and walked off to the side while Tony continued talking to the rest. "it means the portal won't collapse in on itself like it did at Shield, also it means the portal can stay open as wide and as long as Loki wants." Tony then walked over to the computer screens, he barked a couple of commands to Shield agents before suddenly blurting out "that man is playing Galaga!" He said as pointed to his right at a Shield agent a little way down. "thought we wouldn't notice, but we did. How does Fury even see all these?" Tony wondered as he looked at the multiple screens in front of him and placed a hand over his own eye to mimic Fury's eyepatch.
"He turns." Hill answered, looking slightly amused but also as if she hated herself for her amusement.
"Sounds exhausting," Tony replied before he shrugged and continued talking while messing with the screens. "the rest of the raw materials, Agent Barton can get his hands on pretty easily. The only major component he still needs is a power source of high energy density," Tony said before sneaking a small device on the underside of one of the screens, "something to kick start the cube."
"When did you become an expert in thermo-nuclear astrophysics?" Hill asked, trying to hide how impressed she was feeling.
"Last night," Tony answered in a 'I know I'm awesome but it's no big deal' kind of way. "the packet, Selvig's notes, the extraction theory papers...am I the only one who did the reading?" Tony asked in a disappointed voice.
"Is there a particular kind of power source he needs?" Steve asked, sounding like he had had more than enough of Tony talking.
"He'd have to heat the cube to a hundred and twenty million kelvin just to break through the Coolum barrier." Banner answered.
"Unless Selvig has figured out how to stabilize the quantum tunnel effect." Tony replied
"With that he could achieve heavy ion fusion at any reactor on the planet." Bruce responded.
"Finally, someone who speaks English." Tony grinned as he went over to Bruce and shook his hand, happy to have another genius in the room.
"Is that was just really happened?" Steve asked everyone as he gestured to Stark and Banner.
"Just nod and pretend that you understand what's going on." Harry replied.
"Anyway," Tony said as he talked to Banner. "it is a huge pleasure to meet you Doctor Banner, your work on anti-electron collisions is unparalleled," Banner was about to respond when Tony decided he had to add the following. "and I'm a huge fan of the way you lose control and turn into an enormous green rage monster."
"Thanks." Banner said, looking unsure if he should feel angered or complimented by what Stark had just said.
"Doctor Banner is only here to locate the cube," Fury said as he arrived in the room. "I was hoping you might join him." He added to Tony
"Let's start with that stick of his," Steve suggested. "it may be magical but it works an awful lot like a hydra weapon."
"I'm leaning more on it being magical," Harry replied. "definitely powerful."
"I don't know about magic" Fury replied "but it is powered by the cube, and I'd like to know how Loki used it to turn two of the sharpest people I know into his personal flying monkeys."
"Monkeys? I don't understand." Thor said, looking very confused.
"I do," Steve said proudly and quicker than he intended to, earning an eyeroll from Tony. "I...I understood that reference." Steve said, looking slightly embarrassed by his own outburst.
"Shall we play doctor?" Tony said to Banner, cutting through the awkward silence. Doctor Banner nodded and the two genius's walked out of the room together.
"Mr Potter," Fury said to Harry. "may I speak with you alone?"
"Might as well get it over with," Harry said as he walked over and grabbed Fury by the arm and teleported the two to Fury's office. "let's talk."
"I see that you're no longer trying to hide your powers." Fury noted since Harry had teleported the two in full view of many Shield agents along with Captain America and Thor.
"My identity has already been revealed, there's no point anymore." Harry shrugged as he sat down in a seat in front of Fury's desk.
"Yes, that is regrettable." Fury sighed as he sat behind his desk. "It happened while you were off fighting with Loki. I tried to stop it but by the time I finally could it was too late as many had already seen it, I had warned everyone not to underestimate Barton. He's far more dangerous than people are willing to give him credit for."
"True," Harry agreed. "any luck so far on finding out where he is?"
"Not as of yet," Fury shook his head. "is there any chance that you can get the information out from Loki?"
"That depends."
"On what?" Fury asked.
"I have two main methods of extracting information from others, one way is to introduce them into enough pain until they cry out their answers when I ask, but with Thor here I don't know how much of a good idea it is to start torturing him. My second method is to read his mind but I have no idea how good that idea is with someone like Loki, I have no experience with Asgardian magic and I have no idea if Loki is skilled in the mind arts. If he does have mental defenses then it's possible, more than likely in fact, that they can keep me out. Normally if someone has mental defenses I'd hurt them until they can no longer maintain them but then that brings us back to the first problem, so if you can't get Thor to allow me to hurt him then we can talk. If not then all we have left is tricking him into speaking."
"How do you suggest we do that?"
"I'd recommend getting him to talk, he seems the type who likes to hear his own voice, much like Stark. Speaking of Stark, I..."
"Stark can be difficult," Fury interrupted. "I know, I do have my reasons for bringing him here."
"And what are those reasons?" Harry asked.
"I'd prefer to wait for a short time before I tell you." Fury responded, Harry looked him in the eye and Fury looked back without hesitation. "Are you reading my mind?" Fury asked after a short silence.
"No, even though you make it quite tempting." Harry responded. "By the way I have two things to ask you, first of all do you want me to help with operation RS-3 when we finally get to it?"
"Perhaps," Fury said in a thoughtful voice. "I don't think we'll need you but I'd like it if you stay on standby. What is your second question?"
"Can you help me and Padfoot find somewhere else to live?" Harry asked as he waved his wand, cancelling a disillusion charm that he had placed on Padfoot, causing Padfoot to suddenly appear next to Harry.
"You brought your damn dog here?"
"Is that a no?"
