I did not even have to wait for the love-struck fool to run away. The wind pressure of his departure informing me of it, my hair whipping around behind me before Souei put his hand on my shoulder.
"What was his deal?" He asked wearily, his tone was intrigued but also cautious. It seemed that the man's power had shaken my spymaster.
"He is the right hand of the Goddess of Death. He ferries the souls to her for her to process. Essentially, he is to her what you are to me."
"Got it..."
Turning my head to the side to ask him a question, I was shocked to realise that the Draconic power from earlier had gotten closer in a sense. Unable to discover exactly where it was I simply projected a touch more power; vaguely directed in its' direction. This entire display was disrupted also as a harmonious feminine voice radiated out across the tops of the stairway.
"Silviana of the nation of Tempest, I presume?" The voice was serene, calm and altogether strong. This was the tone and timbre of someone who had survived death multiple times and versed things that are beyond most people's comprehensions let alone power levels.
"I do not know who I am speaking to, but, you are correct, that is my name." I pulled softly on Souei's arm to make sure that he got me closer to whoever was speaking. The man quickly acquiesced to my demand.
"Ah, my apologies, I am know as Allura Vysoren. Archmage of the Council of Tal'dorei and a Guide of the Arcana Pansophical." Some wind moved from Allura's general direction, but it was impossible to tell if she had actually moved or if it was just a blowing of the wind.
"I shall introduce myself then... My name is Silviana Solaris, Co-leader of Tempest. Daemonic Overlord of Space-time and Progenitor of the Voidfire Kitsarion." A lull of silence was maintained for what seemed like a long time before an awkward cough brought us back to conversation.
"Daemon?"
"On our world, a Demon Lord is a person of superb power that was either considered a 'monster' and grew powerful enough, due to the nature of how we were born, or, It was a choice to sacrifice people in order to fulfil some form of goal."
"What would these goals be...?"
"Saving those that have died. Killing the perpetrators of your family's deaths. Societal Revenge... The list can continue. There were as many reasons as there were people."
Souei slowly took me up the remaining stairs before I felt the sun slip off of me, shade taking its place and instantly informing me of our entry to the temple building Souei spoke about. Amidst our foot taps on the hard stone or marble below I could hear another set start to follow us, Allura's no doubt.
"Interesting. Do you share any traits with the Demons of the Abyss... do you know?"
"As far as I am concerned, the Demons of the Abyss are a tepid and weak version of what our true powers were on our home planet. Unfortunately, due to the nature of your gods and the rules present within this Multiverse, our powers are limited. So as to the nature of asking if we would come out on top or share traits with them, I cannot perfectly answer as of now."
Gongs resounded in the distance, hundreds ringing across the city all at once as hundreds of guards began to move about; the shifting of their armour giving this away. The footsteps of Allura, hard to track as they were, was followed by me as she too went to somewhere nearby.
"Souei?"
"They are all looking out at the city Silviana-sama. It seems that those noises have shaken them for some reason."
"Hmmm..."
I expanded my magical presence, feeling for any off-putting auras or powers, but there were none. The most I could feel were the influences of my siblings along the entire city walls and in splotches throughout. I couldn't see with this sensor, but it did help me gauge where their influence lay.
"The bells are ringing by themselves...? That is odd, that has never occurred before."
"I apologise but I cannot see as you can, Is there a problem?"
Her footsteps got closer once again as she began to respond.
"No, it doesn't seem there is. If you would follow me."
Souei guided me at a somewhat faster pace now, my hand holding onto his forearm with unsteady determination. My balance was off just that touch that made everything difficult when it came to movement. Only with his help could I fully navigate and coordinate my legs and speed. Speaking of Souei, he began to speak to me once more, in a whisper.
"We are stepping into a large senate-like hall Silviana-sama. Marble columns, approximately 100 guards throughout. There is also an invisible creature at the top of the chamber that looks like a dragon but is severely less powerful then Veldora or Milim-sama."
"It seems that there are three women dressed in black veils and gaudy black dresses. Along with them there are two people for each temple that you spoke about. It seems that we should go to the centre of the chamber?"
"Yes, Souei, do so."
Feeling a slight inclined clench of his right hand that signalled his agreement, he started to carefully and wearily steer me in that direction. At one segment he told me of stairs but I simply ignored him and floated upwards into the air, sending him a mental question of distance to the middle of the floor. And, with that information handed to me, I now, supposedly, floated in the middle of the senate chamber.
Allura's Voice called out off to my right, her voice expanding much more than I had heard her previously accomplish.
"Silviana Solaris of Tempest, Daemonic Overlord of Space-Time and Progenitor of the Voidfire Kitsarion!"
A moment was had before a singular voice called out right in front of me.
"Guards are to be left outside."
My eye twitched, I hated dealing with snooty types like this the most.
"I am afraid that I will have to request that my guard stay present."
Tightening plates of metal resounded as the creature above slightly shifted, the noise distinctly giving me the impression that it just started to softly claw the ceiling's stonework. The sharp echo of metal leaving sheaths reverberated with intense movement as each guard in the room no doubt took a few steps towards us.
"Stop! She is visually impaired... Her guard is her aide!" Allura's voice boomed out, leading to the grunts of several guards and the quick shifting of clothing from before me.
"... If that is the case he can stay..."
"With that being agreed upon, let us start?" I chose my words carefully here, as any sort of provocation would lead to annoying consequences... You know, bad political relations, no trade, potentially even a rivalry; Unlikely due to my brothers and sisters, but still, the priests could keep me at arms' reach.
....
"With the meeting going into record, could you please answer the council of Vasselheim as to the origin of your nation?"
There had been a small period to get the scribes and such ready, the council becoming seated as I was offered a throne to sit upon in kind. Water was given freely to me and Souei with the option of Juice... Then, after a minute of setting the, 'scene' as it were, we began in haste... 'Now that you are all caught up, let's start, shall we?'
"Another world known as Tensura." Murmurs spread once more as the vibrations of the dragon's breath from above was enough to give me the creeps.
"Ahum! If this is the case, how were you able to reach this planet safely, and possibly more importantly, what are your intentions?" Souei tapped my shoulder and described the scene for me.
All of the temple heads were assembled before me in their flowy robes of silk and fine cloth, garb of my brethren draping their forms. Symbols were supposedly emblazoned on banners behind them as they all looked down at me, most seeming contemplative and cautious. I thanked Souei and then went on further to answer.
"How we got here is none of your concern. As for our intentions? They are purely peaceful."
"How can we be assured-" I interrupted the deep and gruff sounding man abruptly, not standing for any bullshit.
"If you need assurances, than don't we also need assurances?" A lull spread before conversation in quiet was had once again... The theme of these meeting were always the same and only when dealing with interesting people did they change, like Ainz.
"That is true. Then, shall we exchange assurances?"
"A good start."
"Fine, then let us guarantee that we shall follow the will of the Gods in all things and that we will not attack or harm your nation so long as the Gods do inform us otherwise."
"Works for me. For our side, we have Four other powers that came along with us. One, is a Dwarven Kingdom that is technologically powerful but very cultured and civilised. This nation we have a peace with and an alliance. Second, the Daemonic Overlord named Guy, he was the most powerful being on our former planet and is exceptionally powerful. He is peaceful in general and isolationist for the most part. Third, a faction known as the 'Tomb of Nazerick', a powerful force of planar beings that is lead by a reasonable and fair Overlord. We once had conflict with this 'faction' but we quelled our conflicts to survive the event that made us flee our prior planet. The fourth power is the land we brought with us itself. It is inhabited by powerful nature spirits and ruled by a Demon Lord known as Ramiris. She, Ramiris, has essentially merged with Tempest."
Taking a deep breath I reached out for my cup of water, drinking deeply as the voices of priests and heads spoke with one another. I could sense the relaxation of the dragon above as it probably detected the truth in my statements. Having the memories of being Silvius was awesome, I could remember that certain dragons that Bahamut made could tell lies from truth, even going so far as recalling the proud face that my sister had made when she presented it to me.
"Then, by the fact I am speaking to you and not these other powers, I would assume that yours is the most powerful. Given that fact... We wish to form a treaty."
I put down the cup of water on the nearby table, Souei quickly moving to stop something from happening to the cup as it fell from my hand. Ignoring that small mistake however I began listening more intently.
"The treaty would be a non-aggression pact that would extend to the Continent of Tal'dorei and naturally be all encompassing for Vasselheim. Along with this, we are open to the concept of forming trade relations between your nation and this Divine city..."
"We accept."
"..."
"Very well, then it shall be signed by magical pact. Is there any other business that you wish to discuss with us?"
"Yes, I would like to know if you have knowledge on any spots where Blue essence resides..."
Silence reigned for a long while, slight whispers here and there before I finally got my response.
"What is this blue essence you speak of...?"
Immediately I sighed, there was no hope of finding a place so easily. Perhaps I would just have to wait out the four years of time, an idea that was slowly cementing itself into my mind with increasing potency.
"Do not worry, just take my question as a woman attempting to find a cure for an ailment that has been foisted upon her... Never mind."
"We can have our best clerics try and cure you of your blindness if you wish, I believe we could do it."
Smiling at the man's kindness despite being another-worlder and a head of state, I couldn't help but answer his offer of help sincerely.
"I am afraid that none of your clerics, or even the Gods could aid me in this affliction. It is too powerful and bears the mark of a being beyond comprehension. A wound I suffered to allow my people to get to this world safely." Some shocked gasps ran through the room, the idea of the Gods being less powerful than this entity concerning many. From my memories I understood that the entirety of Exandria, excluding a few, understood that the Gods were the most powerful entities around. My words were interpreted to be opposing that philosophy, no, that understanding of life.
"A being more powerful than the Gods...? You must be mad!?"
"Unfortunately not. Although, if I saw that entity's real physicality I would truly, TRULY, be mad."
The entire room went quiet, yet again; this was getting me tired of their bullshit. Then, once more, they began whispering to each other. It was as if they understood nothing more than long pauses and then subtle conversations as a meeting tactic. Although, it was far better than the childish arguments I had read about from the Australian Government.
"Is that all?"
"Yes. I have no further topics to speak to you about at this time."
"Then this meeting shall be adjourned! I thank you all for attending!"
