A literal tempest began to buffet my entire form as magicules continued to billow continuously out of my body. My tails twirled as the wind passed through their fluffy fur. Arching my head upwards the radiant sunlight pierced through the clouds that were creeping slowly along the upper parts of the atmosphere. Warmth filled my skin despite the magicules covering it all, despite the hanging winter cold my entire body felt comfortable. It was as if I was sitting in spring's court, the trees rustling above me from the wind and the butterflies buoying all around.
Closing my eyes to feel this sensation better, the enigmatically vibrant shades of copious gesticulations with my magicules flared and scattered. My powers were thrumming in response to my call to use them. Eyes, ears, nose, tongue, each one of them could identify the electric sensations of the magicules in their call. Bathing in this for what seemed to be a moment my hands slowly rose.
Images flashed in my mind. Stories and worlds from fiction. Ideas and concepts so bizarre that reality seemed strange in comparison. All of them twisted and merged, concepts from physics, biology and the magic I had created, forming a wonderous and mildly insane creation within my mind. At the single moment where the image appeared I began my work... Space fluctuated from my perspective, cracks and ebbs within it moulding to my will as filling the space was my magicules. Reshaped, rebound, re-worked... Space became a toy for me as the very essence of its design bent to every flex of power. Sometimes slippery and sometimes rigid, the creation of a semi-physical demi-plane that was bridged between actual space and another dimension began to manifest.
Some ridges of space dropped from my grasp only to me clenched onto by magicules that embodied my spells and willpower. I was not just bridging the abstract, there was another purpose in this. Expansion. Size and room was a major issue for Tempestus due to the relationship we had with the forest and the dryads, therefor, I sought a solution. What if instead of going purely vertical, something that would no doubt be achieved in future despite my actions today, we leveraged space more?
Thus we reached the conclusion of this segment of the plan. Demi-plane met material plane space, the rules of each attempting to transfix themselves onto the other. Glass shattering sounds eked out from the sheer pressure of these two points in space. Colour spectrums broke for several moments as the two colossal concepts fought one another for control over the designated sprawl of their domains. Several minutes passed, the 'clash' finishing at a snails pace as they both came to a draw. POP, like a bubble that had built too much pressure and size, collapsing in on itself, the two spatial domains merged and then exploded out. The result was not damaging, the most effecting thing being the spontaneous exit of all wind in the city. Spherical material that seemed like glass hovered several hundred meters above the city, the rigidity of said material slowly fading as it turned more liquid. A transformation from solidity to liquidity also had a visual effect as the material became invisible to the naked eyes of those below. Space was invisible usually and this law of the universe, of reality itself, was reinstated.
Whilst other could not see, I could. In that bubble of space-time the feeling of expansiveness was mind-boggling. Effectively I had created a spatial domain adjacent to reality that could hold 15 to 20 cities like Tempestus. Brain numbing as that number may have been, the real kicker would be when I finished my construction... With massive translucent 'bubble' before me I began my artistry.
Magicules were formed into elements of rock and stone, dirt and silt. A mass of earth slowly siphoned into the bubble, the exterior of said bubble mutating and expanding to suit a more natural landscape. Mountains of material was slowly being created from pure magic as water was next, the liquid flowing through the air like a reversing waterfall. Water infiltrated the created earth and gave rise to mud, this mud collapsing packed dirt above as it compressed into harder substances. Lava was next, the craggy and monstrously hot flow seeping and searing the stones and dirt it touched. The flow slowly wormed its way to the centre of the land-mass that was starting to form.
Space held this whole process above the city, gravity strengthen as each layer of material was added inside the enclosed spatial dimension. The next part was the hard part however, as I began to create a material that would keep the entire landmass floating when the support of my magic faded. Broomstone, a material used in the world of Exandria and requiring an exaggerated amount of mana for me to summon and use here... Nonetheless, it was what I wanted to use. Large chunks of matter was summoned from the realm of Exandria, or some version of it, black metallic material with glittering starlight amidst the onyx exterior crashed out from my hand and embedded into the previously created stone. Within minutes the entire island was now floating, the magic from the environment sustaining the lifting of the entire geological structure.
The growth process went for a full hour until the island was half the size of the city, within the compressed spatial dimension. With rough estimation, the island was now ten times the size of the city, with the possibility of it being much larger. Rivers started to flow on the top of the island, grass, trees and various plants growing extremely fast with the druidic powers I had imbued into my skills. Water rippled off the edge of the surface, streams of waterfalls falling down and curving due to the influence of gravity, creating levitating streams of water that interconnected with other waterfalls and fed up into the middle of the island. From there I created a small rune that made the water recirculate and flow back into the start of the rivers on the top. Not only would this perpetually maintain the current water level but would also account for future rain, re-directing the rain down towards the city.
From this point I focussed on re-establishing the light of the sun, redirecting some of the light above the island to below. This was achieved via 8 different marble obelisks that had red gems in the middle of each of their four sides. Alongside these obelisks I placed large gateways that would be connected to entry ways in the city below. I would not limit the access of this island, not at all. To do so would go against my morals and the laws we had built upon. No, this island would be extension to the city and would also be the major education district. Our children were the nation's future, thus, the island would be a much better place for their defence. Ensuring this was my next step as I created physical castle walls that started to blister with hundreds of Anti-air platforms. Electricity crackled along the barrels of each platform's weaponry as these were rail-gun AA defences from my period of history. Automatic detection and firing was common by my age and the AI running such systems were all integrated into the weaponry itself, making it entirely self sustaining.
Magic powered them, but also the walls they stood upon. Runes as large as multi-storied buildings were etched into the side of every second wall segment, shadowy-blue magic pulsing with power in the grooves that made runes. From each rune a orb of light slowly ascended before merging with thousands more of its kind. Energy pancaked and then spread in a dome shape until several minutes later there was a massive shield protecting the skies of the island. The AA weaponry was already scanning the skies and was set on patrol of the skies.
At this stage the protection was already powerful... But i thought that the ground protection of the island was weak. Therefor, i went a bit overboard and added Defense turrets into the side of the walls that were designed for land targets. The rest would have to wait until I constructed the University itself. Which I was just about to do.
Power, wealth, culture, influence, technology, philosophy... I wanted the University to embody all of those things. It was a tall order, one that would most likely require years of refinement and building by the actual people of Tempest. Achieving it however would require an excellent base or foundation to work upon. Marble, Iris Agate, Tourmaline with Lepidolite and Opal was used at the foundations of the structures. Marble and Iris Agate was the first layer. Hundreds of ten story tall to twenty story tall houses were built from these materials all built upon with Graphene, something I had complete control over with my carbon tail. These structures were hundreds of times stronger than steel and also beautiful beyond comprehension. Iris Agate had a wonderful mirror-like effect but with reflecting rainbow patterns radiating within as the sun's rays struck the exterior, repeating endlessly so long as there was light. The Marble contrasted this magical looking material by mostly being of a darker colour, from pitch blacks to dark greys. The roofs were made from Graphene in Hexagonal patterns, ensuring that they could resist extreme weather if it were to come around or be summoned.
Roads were next. Aquamarine and Opal were used for the roads, my transmutation abilities allowing me to make them as strong as Graphene usually was despite their usually brittle composition. Opal lined the roads and made up the gutters, water flowing across blackened opal with streaks of blue, green and red. The path itself was made of Aquamarine, so much in fact, that the entire road appeared to radiate a small lime green light when the sun shone down on it at the right angle. The roads continued onwards for hundreds of kilometres, weaving through thousands of homes and leading up the side of a massive mountain.
On this mountain a monolithic foundation was being layed. Graphene and Carbon nanotubes making the strong rods that buried into the carbon-pure cement that swiftly dried and hardened. Magicules were consumed in mere moments as countless walls jutted out from the foundation, seemingly appearing from the material itself, a little trick I wished to use to ensure the building was damage resistant. Before many would even be able to blink thousands of make-shift rooms were made within the structure. Auditoriums, Bathrooms, Dorm rooms, medical wings, gymnasiums, swimming pools, recreation areas, teacher offices, magical elevators, libraries, AI helpers, electrical generators, electricity itself... All of it was available and built within moments as I scanned through the knowledge in my brain and focussed on the essential parts of a university and school.
I skipped on rather soft ideas from the era that lead up to the war... Safe rooms and such, they were a 'nice' idea in thought but in reality it made a culture about victimhood. What i wanted the students to learn was the basics, what they needed to survive and thrive. Learning was not about catering to certain idea or political agendas, it was the future of the nation's people, thus I excluded those types of rooms and instead added way more rooms for physical activity. Gyms, Gymnastic Rooms, etc... Getting past the influence of the 21st century I began to add flight simulators from my past life, giving people courses on how to train reaction times, increase perception speed and also training on how the modern firearms work. Although it may seem a little out of place given the level of technology we had, it would all have a compounding effect that would blow our tech level to knew heights in less than five years.
By the end of my specific manipulations the entire structure I had envisioned was done. Sweat pooled on my brow as my stomach churned. My sight started to get wavy somewhat as I was fast approaching the limit that my body could handle for Magicules. Magicules may be infinite for me, but my body's storage and throughput capacity was not.
'Woo, this sucks... Let's have a rest...'
I sunk down to the roofs of one of the newly made houses I had constructed. My ass hurt after a minute of sitting, the comfortability of the material very questionable but the strength of it not. The wooziness was not gone, not even close but I still pushed through. One last thing was needed to be completed and then I could rest. Teleportation Gates in the city below. Peeling my eyelids open I vanished into shadow with my Ultimate Skill and emerged back in the square below. The world churned and I felt my balance shift a little, my Hermes ability kicking in within a literal nano-second and keeping me standing.
SNAP
I snapped my fingers and created the final part of my plans for now, the gates for those down below to enter the rest of the city. Quartz and Marble gateways grew from the cobblestones and bricks of the pavement as similar obelisks erected themselves behind the gateways, space becoming infinitesimally linked in location... Now these portals were technically only centimetres away from the exits above, ensuring that whoever went through would travel safely.
