Lucy never existed

It all started when Lucy, my best friend in this world, revealed her true colors. We had been digging through the details of "Twilight's Embrace," trying to find any clue about Mary. I trusted Lucy completely, so it was a shock when she turned to me with a sinister smile.

"Lucy?" I asked, my voice trembling. "What's going on?"

She laughed, the sound cold and devoid of any warmth. "Oh, Jade. You really don't get it, do you? Lucy never existed. It's always been me—Mary."

My heart raced, confusion and fear swirling within me. "But why? Why go through all this trouble?"

"Because I needed to get close to you," she said, stepping closer. "You and Raven... you two were a threat to my plans."

I tried to back away, but the room seemed to close in around me. Mary's eyes gleamed with malice as she approached, her intentions clear. Before I could react, she struck, her movements quick and precise. Pain exploded in my head, and the world went black.
