Chapter 36 Going Too Far

The Old Couple of the Lin family didn't know about the incidents in the village today, so when the brigade leader and Accountant Sun came over, they were somewhat puzzled. But after Accountant Sun explained the situation, the eyes of the Old Couple of the Lin family reddened.

They had actually run out of food recently. They hadn't received much grain last autumn since the old man had been injured and unable to work, and Old Lady Lin was not well enough to engage in high-point labor tasks.

The brigade leader, being kind-hearted, allowed her to manage the comings and goings of livestock in the breeding yard. The job wasn't strenuous but it required literacy to keep records, and since Old Lady Lin could read, the villagers couldn't say much.

However, last year their younger daughter came back complaining that with so many children at home they were never full. When she left, she took quite a lot of grain, leaving the couple since then without a single full meal.
