The Wrong Way

Thanos continued to press his beliefs on Caesar, unyielding even if it meant risking the stability of the entire universe.

Supergiant, after meticulous surveillance, had a startling revelation: Caesar's ability to teleport across galaxies didn't stem from the Space Gem but from his own intrinsic power.

Driven by desperation, Thanos coveted not only Caesar himself but the extraordinary abilities he possessed.

With Caesar's spatial teleportation and his formidable elite Angel army at his side, Thanos believed the grand task of restoring balance to the universe could be executed with unprecedented efficiency.

Once allied, they would face no opposition.

And as for handing over the reins of the universe to Caesar once balance was achieved? That mattered little to Thanos. Deep down, he yearned for nothing more than a simple life—a life spent as a humble farmer, watching sunsets from the porch of a wooden house.

"That's enough."

Caesar paused, taken aback as Thanos laid the dominion of the universe at his feet like a gambit.

No one could stand firm against the allure of such power, and Caesar was no different.

He understood the harsh reality.

"Seriously, Thanos?"

Thanos, a figure who spoke only truths, laid out the stark facts: the universe's resources were finite.

Managing the population to conserve these resources might not only be necessary—it could be beneficial for the universe and its myriad inhabitants.

And if the method of achieving this balance was to randomly spare only half of all life, then so be it.

To safeguard his loved ones while imposing the burden of balance on others felt like a fair trade to Caesar.

In his view, the universe was vast, and morality was ambiguous.

In the grand scheme of things, the lives of countless others in distant civilizations seemed trivial compared to the lives of those he held dear.

Would you trade your family and friends to rescue a strange civilization millions of light-years away?

Caesar definitely wouldn't.

A grin played on Caesar's lips as he surveyed the scene below. The Blue Spirit people, beneath the gaze of the two powerful figures, felt their hearts racing. Some were filled with doubt and fear.

The fear was real. Caesar contemplated Thanos' proposition. Would he agree out of fear and destroy a planet to safeguard the secret? Or would he take the first step towards balance, starting with Lan Lingxing?

But they were powerless against the might of these cosmic tyrants. They could only watch helplessly, knowing that in the vast universe, the strong preyed upon the weak.

Caesar exchanged a smile with Thanos, his eyes glowing with golden flames. In an instant, Supergiant's unsuspecting head turned to ash, followed by the swift demise of the remaining Chitauri and Vanguard.

The surviving Blue Spirit tribe erupted into shocked cries, realizing they had truly survived, truly were safe. The bracelet on Supergiant's hand remained intact, and Thanos' image flickered momentarily before stabilizing.

Though he knew Supergiant desired this end, Thanos couldn't help but feel a pang of sadness. He had long sought to sacrifice himself for the universe's balance, yet the act still weighed heavily on him. Thanos glared at Caesar, silently questioning his sudden actions.

Caesar sighed, addressing Thanos with a smile, "I told you, a mere illusion wouldn't save her life. Sorry, even if you offered the entire universe in exchange, I'd still refuse."

Caesar took a deep breath and began to narrate very calmly, as if to an old friend, recounting the tale of the past.

"You know, I've known you existed since I was very young," he began, his voice steady.

"And all this time, fear and despair over your ideas," he continued, his words carrying the weight of years of contemplation.

"Because I don't think my luck is that good," he admitted, his honesty shining through.

"Because I entrust my life to the thoughts of others," he confessed, revealing a vulnerability rarely seen.

"That feeling is too powerless, too painful, and too desperate!" he exclaimed, his emotions laid bare.

"But today, I can even face you with a smile," he declared, a newfound resolve evident in his tone.

"I understand you to a certain extent and respect you," he acknowledged, extending an olive branch of understanding.

"Understand the finiteness and cruelty of this universe, and respect your willingness to bear the sins of countless lives for an idea!" he stated, showing a deep empathy for Thanos's perspective.

"However, Nayou, I'll just say one thing: in order to balance the universe, the idea of slaughtering half of the lives of all races, I will never approve!" he asserted, his conviction unwavering.

"It has nothing to do with good or evil, just because this road can't balance the entire universe at all!" he reasoned, his logic clear and sound.

"This is the wrong way!" he concluded, his words ringing with finality.

"I never want to bear countless sins and walk on the wrong path!" he declared, his stance firm.

Having said that, Caesar began to ask softly, "Thanos, have you counted?"

"There are countless civilizations in the universe. In this universe, are there more powerful races or more weak races?"

"Do the powerful races consume more resources, or the weaker races consume more resources?"

"You, have you thought about it?" he inquired, prompting Thanos to ponder.

Thanos began to ponder.

Caesar continued, undeterred.

Caesar has been able to calmly start a battle of ideas with Thanos.

This is an incomparably powerful strength, which brings enough confidence.

"And then?" Thanos put down his sadness and asked calmly.

Thanos wondered why Caesar said his path was wrong!
