[ 25 ] spell 'Hail'

I would try to learn it in a week. As bizarre as it sounds, I will try to do it anyway.

So I focused on the instructions given by Prof. Rooi. No one else had completely learned the previous spells, so I was the only one learning them.

I looked at the professor's movements carefully, and in just a moment, a small hail started.

He probably didn't use much magic in order to not harm the nearby students.

After seeing it, I went to practice it by myself.

Standing in a corner away from others, a spell like hail naturally needs more space to learn and started to chant, 'In the divine of goddess Aurora, lend me power, hail'

But nothing happened. Professor Rooi chuckled at this. "You really expected it to be this easy? You first have to know more about this spell and practice the basic principles of it."

I embarrassingly nodded. I learned my previous spells fast, so I might have gone a little overconfident.

So I carefully thought about the spell before continuing. I tried it again, but this time...

I started by mixing wind magic and ice magic, making some cold-blown air. It's just the first step; I will have to expand it more, I guess.

So I started to focus on it. I practiced making more colder winds; after all, it's the main thing done in hail.

I improved a lot, but I still need more practice. So for the next two days, I was focused on making colder wind until I was satisfied enough.

Now for the next faze, I focused on making a lot of mini icesicle shards.

Which is like hitting three birds with one stone because it can help me manipulate better and make my speed of gerneating ice shards faster than before.

The next two days I practiced on it; it wasn't that bad, to be honest. The only problem was my lack of mana.

My mana is actually quite good, but due to continuous use, it was drying up pretty fast. You need large mana reserves to produce hail, which kind of disappointed me.

But I was going to learn it anyway, or it would hurt my pride.

There were only three days left until it was a whole week, and I didn't want to lose the challenge I made for myself.

I will start the third part soon to combine the last two steps.

And I started to do that the next day.

Making cold winds and small icesicle shards. But this time, those icesicle shards are more realistic, like those in real hail.

Due to the fact that Hail is climate-condition-based, it has to be as realistic as I can.

So I practiced about it every moment I got, but to be honest, I think I underestimated the difficulty of it.

Whenever I try to form a cloud with the help of the first step, it fails. Or whenever I try to make icesicle shards realistic, they look fake.

So I tried to practice harder.

I tried my best to practice with every free moment I had.

I even skipped my studies, though there wasn't anything I didn't know already.

I still paid attention to important subjects like probability and basic magic.

Three days came to an end in a blink of an eye. It was time to present what I have learned this week.

I came to the abandoned garden. The only place except my dorm gives me peace.

The sun was shining brightly. Today was a holiday, so I decided to practice in the sun.

It was not the best choice to practice ice-type magic, but the warm sunlight against your skin just felt so good to resist.

I sat there for a while, basking in the sun and relaxing my nerves, before getting up.

I walked toward the empty ground. Black and dark green greenery was around the empty ground like always.

It was kind of dilapidated, but the flowers on that dark green greenery and bushes made it better for my aesthetic. Not that I care much, though.

I tried to use Hail extremely slowly and carefully. It slowly started to form a small cloud, and chilling winds were blowing below it.

I smiled. It felt good to see my hard work paying off.

But I didn't let that get on my head; I had just done the first step of the whole spell.

So I started to work on the second part. I started to make realistic-looking mini icesicle shards.

It took me a lot of studying in a lot of books just to get a perfect and realistic-looking shape for this.

After the first two steps were done, I was focusing on the third step. Maintain it and don't let it collapse.

That's the only way you can get into this spell. And serve others too, unless they had a specific method to do the practice or progress.

I will just have to maintain it for five minutes; it won't be hard, right?

So I let my mana get injected into the hail.

It slowly went one minute, then two, then three... My mana was running out with the speed of light.

The hail was still going on, but I don't think I can continue it any longer.

The hail started growing smaller and smaller.

After almost 35 seconds, the hail stopped. I fell to my knees, breathing heavily.

I can't explain the feeling; it's like my heart will stop anytime soon.

I have run out of mana before, but I never took it this far.

I swear I would never do this again; it was too life-threatening.

I lay on the ground, breathing heavily, waiting for my heavy breathing to calm down.

This place is just too good and feels safe. I was really tired too. So I slowly fell asleep without realizing it.

I woke up, and when I felt danger around me, I hurriedly opened my eyes and pulled my wand.

It was a wind eagle; it seems to be attacking me. I shot some sharp icesicle shards towards it.

It got injured and ran away in fear.

I calmed my breathing and looked around myself. The sun was still up.

I got up to leave, but my eyes caught sight of a bird. It was hiding in the robe's inner pocket.

To be precise, it was injured and bleeding. I hurriedly ran towards it and tried to hold it in my hands.

But the bird is resisting me by gagging its sharp claws on

me, and tried to fly away.

But I frozen it with a magic spell. Before holding it gently and caressing it.

"Don't worry, little birdy, I won't harm you," I said in a comforting tone before gently kissing its forehead.

It's face reddend a little...Did the bird just Blushed !?

Suspicious little bird. Your gift is the motivation for my creation.
