Chapter 213: Black Blade - Night

The chief proved to be quite generous. Upon learning that Clark had merely been "careless" and not intentionally watching him get knocked out by the ghost woman, he chose to forgive Clark and put the matter to rest.

While walking out, he couldn't help but grumble, "Every time I choose to trust someone, it never ends well. I really shouldn't be so trusting next time."

With a sly smile, Clark patted his shoulder and said, "Don't sweat the small stuff. You didn't lose anything this time, right? But from what you've said, it sounds like you've been betrayed by someone you trusted deeply before. Are you referring to Alexander Pierce?"

Shaking his head, Hank Pym pointed to his eyepatch over his left eye and said, "This is the price I paid for being too trusting last time."

Impressed, Clark gave him a thumbs-up, "Your definition of humanity is quite broad."

Received +666 impression points from Nick Fury!

You even know this! The three of them left the ghost woman's underground base, and Hank Pym's phone immediately rang with a series of messages. Upon checking them, his face turned darker than usual.

Feeling somewhat guilty for letting him get knocked out earlier, Clark asked out of curiosity, "Is something troubling you?"

Without responding, Hank Pym handed Clark his phone. The messages from Hill detailed three separate incidents involving Inhumans causing harm.

From the descriptions of the assailants and the traces left during their transformations, it was clear these individuals were transformed without preparation, unintentionally causing harm due to their inability to control their powers.

Silently handing the phone back to Hank Pym, Clark said, "The Avengers can handle this. We'll treat it as a training exercise. After controlling these individuals, they can be handed over to S.H.I.E.L.D. for imprisonment. You should prepare a suitable facility for detaining superpowered individuals. We can discuss and decide what to do with them later."

Hank Pym's one eye lit up, "You're finally willing to let your precious Avengers take action?"

"They're well-coordinated now and need some real combat experience. Also, after suffering a setback under Ava's command, they need to regroup and boost their morale," Clark paused, then added, "I'll head back to settle things with Ava. Send me the details later."

After sending Hank Pym back to his office through a portal, Clark returned to the Pym Laboratories with Ava.

Upon seeing Ava, although she wasn't in her battle suit, the Avengers immediately recognized her as the formidable opponent who had given them a hard time. At first, they were cautious, but their attitude softened to sympathy after hearing her story.

However, Hank Pym's expression became complicated upon seeing Ava.

Clark temporarily settled Ava in the Pym Laboratories and handed over the quantum components to Hank Pym. Then, glancing around the room, he asked, "Where's Tony?"

"In his lab, tinkering with something," Hank Pym replied indifferently, then continued his research on the quantum tunnel with Suri.

Hank Pym's dislike for Tony seemed to stem from his relationship with Howard Stark.

Tony also seemed not to be fond of Hank Pym.

Clark had no solution for the tension between these two genius scientists. He asked everyone to wait and then headed to Tony's lab.

Since the formation of the Avengers, Tony had invested heavily in the Pym Laboratories, transferring most of his major projects there.

Tony got along well with Dr. Banner, filling the gap left after Banner's work on the Super Soldier Serum. Only Banner hadn't been involved in fights or training, still rejecting his Hulk persona. Lately, the two had been engrossed in developing anti-Hulk armor, causing Pepper Potts and Black Widow to be enviously annoyed, with the other Avengers feeling helpless.

Upon reaching Tony's lab, Clark found that Dr. Banner wasn't there, and Tony was not working on his Iron Man suit but rather watching a replay of last night's Victoria's Secret show.

Clark glanced at the screen, where an old man with white hair and glasses, holding a "10" sign, cheered for one of the models.

Received impression points from the cosmic will, transformed into a 'Random BGM Lottery Card'! Wow, that works too!? As Clark wondered, Tony turned around, "I thought only playboys like me were interested in models. Didn't expect you, Clark, with your thick eyebrows and big eyes, to be so engrossed."

Clark: ...

Clark had no way to explain that he wasn't interested in the models but the old man who briefly appeared on the screen. Knowing Tony, any such explanation would only invite more sarcasm.

Shaking his head, Clark casually used the phrase "Human nature" to gloss over the issue and then changed the subject, "How's everyone's equipment coming along?"

Since Hank Pym was focusing on the quantum tunnel, the responsibility of equipping the Avengers naturally fell on Tony. Suri, the young genius, was assisting both sides with her vibranium technology.

When asked about the equipment, Tony's eyes lit up, "I prepared everything last week, except for the final touches on the anti-Hulk armor. Are you asking because there's a new mission?"

Clark nodded and smiled, "We won't need the anti-Hulk armor for now, but the rest of the gear will be useful soon. Bring your equipment, and let's discuss it with everyone."

Without further ado, Tony snapped his fingers, and two Iron Man suits brought out several large metal boxes. Clark and Tony then returned to the laboratory's main hall.

Clapping his hands to gather everyone's attention, Clark announced, "Attention, everyone. It's time to distribute the equipment."

Black Widow, already equipped, joked, "I'm curious to see what our lab geniuses have customized for everyone."

"Guaranteed satisfaction," Clark replied with a sly smile, and began to introduce the Avengers' standardized equipment.

"Firstly, the standard suits, designed with the simplicity and practicality of S.H.I.E.L.D. agent uniforms. They're made of high-strength titanium alloy mixed with a small amount of vibranium to maximize safety. Each suit has the wearer's name on it."

"Next, individual equipment."

Clark went through each piece of equipment tailored for the Avengers, describing their unique features and functions. He distributed specialized weapons, armor, and gear, taking into account each member's abilities and needs.

Finally, Clark took out a large, black sword from the bottom of the box. The blade, including the handle, was about 1.7 meters long, almost the height of an adult man. The entire blade was pitch black, with a long guard that made it resemble a black cross. In the center of the cross, a moon-shaped arc reactor was embedded, adding a touch of technology to its ancient look.

When Clark channeled energy into the sword, it emitted a sharp aura.

Handing it over to Hawkeye, Clark explained, "Clint, I put a lot of thought into this weapon. The blade is made from vibranium and metal from the Destroyer, fused with technology and enhanced with magic."

"When wielded, just a small amount of energy activates the arc reactor, unleashing a formidable blade aura. With your current level of energy, extending the aura forty to fifty meters should be within your capabilities."

Hawkeye eagerly took the sword, visibly excited, and asked, "Does it have a name?"

Clark smiled slightly, "Without your consent, I've already named it - Black Blade Night."
