Chapter 71: Stillstone

Hajime and others entered the Labyrinth and the first thing they saw made them speechless.

"What the hell is that?" Hajime said, looking at multiple floating lines of flowing lava gushing out of a wall, wiggling up and down and heading to another wall. While the lava flowed through the air, some of it dripped down, thus creating a troublesome area.

"..."

"Magma is flowing in the air?" Shea questioned not understanding how this was happening.

"Not just flowing, it's like a river spilling some droplets around. We need to be careful." Tio observed.

"Did you guys also go through something similar… traps like this?" Shizuku asked after seeing the interior of this place.

"Not quite. We have gone through some nasty traps, but nothing like this one," Hajime said, walking ahead.

With that, everyone started to follow Hajime's meticulous lead. They then started to cross the troublesome place. As they were crossing the area, suddenly, a burst of lava came out right in front of Shizuku from a nearby wall.

Shizuku saw the incoming danger and used her sword to slash three consecutive times. The slashes thwarted most of the lava, but some of it made it through and hit her. Seeing all this, Shizuku gritted her teeth, ready for the pain, but the expected pain never came.

Opening her eyes she saw a shimmering barrier blocking the droplets of lava.

"..."

"Barrier?" she muttered.

"Shizuku are you alright?" Shea worriedly asked.

"I am fine…" Shizuku, collecting herself, answered.

Shea and others sighed in relief.

"It seems Rihito had put an extra layer of protection in your equipment." Hajime pointed. "Still, Yaegashi, as you just saw this place is extremely dangerous, so keep your eyes and ears open."

Hearing that Shizuku nodded, "Sorry about that Nagumo, I will be more careful."

Apologising to Hajime Shizuku looked at the place near her stomach where the lava had hit her. [Even when you are not with me, you are still protecting me…] Shizuku felt sweet seeing this. Still, this is not the place to think about these things, she needed to focus on.

Hajime cautiously approached the wall put his hand on it and used <Sense Heat>, "This wall… I can sense a large amount of heat inside this wall. There must be a large amount of lava flowing within the wall."

"That's right," Yue nodded.

"This place is full of natural traps, and since it is inside a volcano, the lava is everywhere, making the heat unbearable. Rihito's artefact really saved us from that," Yue finished.

"Alright enough chit-chat, we still have ways to go." they started to head deeper.

"Hey guys do you guys see any Stillstone because I don't see any," Shea asked looking around.

To her question, Tio was the first to answer, "For me as well."

"Same" Shizuku.

"They must have mined it out from all the nearby accessible places. It seems we need to head deeper." Hajime made a conjecture. He then looked at Yue, "Yue, did you sense anything."

"Nothing abnormal," Yue responded.

"It seems we need to head deeper."

They then started to traverse the dangerous landscape of the volcano. They came across a large fiery river cliff, which truth be told is not the problem. The problem was the other side of the cliff was quite a bit higher from theirs.

"This is a little troublesome, I will go first and check out," Hajime said, preparing to jump to the other side.

"..."

Boom!

Hajime uses his superhuman strength to jump, but halfway through, without taking a run, he starts to plummet down. He then uses his skill <Air Walk> to make another jump, successfully reaching the other side.

Reaching the other side, Hajime looked around for any danger. Sensing none, he waved his hand and gestured for others to follow.

"..."

Shizuku's lips twitched seeing Hajime's gesture. "Is he serious?" Shizuku asked.

Yue stepped to the edge of the cliff and said, "He is..." With that, she used her wind magic to propel herself forward. Yue soared through the air, gliding like a fish swimming in the water, landing directly in Hajime's arms on the other side.

"..."

Seeing them all lovey-dovey Shizuku asked, "They really can't keep their hands off each other."

Shea smiled wryly and nodded, "Yeah if only Rihito was here as well. I also want to flirt with him." Shea expressed her desire openly.

Shizuku didn't say anything but inwardly agreed with Shea's sentiments.

Tio seeing them all lovey-dovey looked at them with slight jealousy and wondered if she also could be that affectionate with Hajime.

"Now it's my turn!" Shea exclaimed as she pulled out her Drucken and started swinging it with her whole body, creating a large momentum.

Shizuku saw this and muttered, "Is she going to do what I think she is."

Tio hearing Shizuku's mutter responded, "It seems Shea created a large amount of momentum with her Drucken. If I am not wrong, she will use that momentum to head to the other side.

"..."

"But isn't Drucken a little bit lighter for that…"

"Here I Goo!" Shea exclaimed.

"Are you crazy" Before Shizuku could finish her word Shea was off.

Shizuku saw Shea crazily heading to the other side and shook her head. She will not be attempting anything that crazy.

Shizuku then looked at Tio, "Mind helping me."

"Tio, manifesting her wings, responded, "Sure." both of them followed Shea's lead.

Shea made the jump using momentum and little use of gravity magic to increase Drucken's weight at the last moment, which let her pull this stunt. Normally anyone who attempted anything like this without some kind of protection would most likely be heavily injured or in the worst case lose a limb or die. But luckily for Shea because of her <Future Sight> skill, she successfully pulled this stunt and reached the other side. But it seemed the momentum she built was more than necessary, so she went further than she thought.

She went further inside and started to fly towards a fiery Bull monster.

The Bull, sensing an immediate threat, spotted the flying Bunny-Rocket, approaching in its direction. Feeling threatened by the creature, the Bull let out a roar as a warning. When Bunny-Rocket didn't stop, the Bull decided to defend itself and unleashed its fiery breath in an attempt to attack.

Shea saw the attack coming and used Drucken to block. The moment the fire breath connected to it, she activated the shockwave blast effect, which easily blocked the fire breath and stopped her free fall. Shea balanced herself and leapt at the bull, "Here I come. Take this…" With one swing of her Drucken, she turned the bull into the meat-paste.

Hajime and others followed after Shea and saw the gory mess she had made. Before they could say anything, Shea exclaimed.

"Look! I found it a still stone," Shea showed off a purple finger-sized spike stone.

Hajime seeing the stone took it from her and analysed it with his <Ore Appraisal>, "Yeah, this is it. And I sense more up ahead."

"With this, we will be able to focus on conquering the Labyrinth."
