Chapter 656: Red Sea Torrent (IX)_1

"Communist sympathizers?" Lila and Kira exchanged glances, both seeing confusion in each other's eyes. After all, they were the true sympathetic to the cause, so how come they didn't hear about Quinn Group's heir being one of them?

"What is going on exactly? Explain!" Kira's tone cooled down, taking great interest in the matter. Williams took a deep breath and said:

"I'm not too sure about the specifics, but I heard it has something to do with Marxism... it was his university classmates who claimed they saw him reading related books, and he seemed quite supportive of it. Isn't that something that people from the other country would read?"

Williams seemed uneducated, even struggling to utter specialized terms, therefore, it was unlikely he made it up. However, both Kira and Lila narrowed their eyes. Was the heir of the Quinn family a Marxist? Kira began to nurture other ideas.

"Are you certain?" Kira asked again, pressuring Williams. "This is not trivial. If the heir to the Quinn family has been corrupted, it means there are dubious people around him. Who do you suspect?"

"I really don't know!" Williams was almost in tears. "I don't understand this ideology at all. I made my fortune through marine transportation, I've hardly read any books, I am definitely not a suspect…"

Kira interrogated him a few more times, but Williams could not offer any clear explanation. After all, he had only heard rumors and had no real details, let alone understand the reasons and consequences.

After admonishing Williams to keep his mouth shut, the two left the Quinn Group's building. In the car, Kira said, "I tend to believe what he said. What about you?"

"Which part are you referring to?" asked Lila.

"There should not be any issue regarding the list. I'm referring to the part about the Quinn family heir. Do you think there's a chance Oliver Quinn could be recruited?"

"Kira, I understand, if the heir to the Quinn family leans towards us, matters in Seashore City, let alone the entire West Coast, would proceed more smoothly. But you must recognize the risk, and it's significant…"

Clearly, Lila was more mature. As a former leader within the Black Panther Party who had escaped multiple assassination attempts and still held onto his position in the Drug Enforcement Agency after its disbandment, he was highly respected among all African-Americans on the West Coast. This was closely related to his caution and stability.

"But it's worth a try!" Kira hit the steering wheel, "You should know our influence has significantly waned. Otherwise, we wouldn't have been defeated over the Philby List."

"May 25th is the meeting of the new representatives, that's in ten days. I hope we can make progress before then."

The tone of Kira's voice revealed her urgency. Having made a rapid rise within the CIA without encountering any obstacles and assuming an important position, she was eager to make accomplishments as she had yet to make any significant achievements since taking up this position.

"Of course, I understand you, Kira, but…"

"We'll go to Old Tod's place first. If the situation is true, all those in the know will have to disappear in order to protect Oliver."

Along with Kira's firm tone, the car disappeared into the end of the horizon.

Inside the Los Angeles Police Department, Chloe held the keys to the archives room fast-tracking through the hallway with Lucifer trailing behind her. "The Black Wave Gang could be considered the arch-enemy of the Los Angeles Police Department. They are well-organized, armed heavily; we must capture someone first, interrogate for information before making our move," Chloe explained as she walked.

"I'll go," Lucifer volunteered bravely, but Chloe frowned, saying: "Don't be absurd, you're a mere man, this has to be done by the police."

Half an hour later, Chloe holstered her pistol while watching the drug dealer pin downed by Lucifer. She approached and turned with a stunned expression towards Lucifer, "What did you do to him???"

The drug dealer on the ground was terrified. He had seen a demonic illusion on Lucifer's face and thought his evil schemes had landed him in hell. Without waiting for Lucifer to question him, he confessed all his crimes.

These low-level drug dealers had virtually no willpower, they were essentially hooligans moonlighting, but equally, they didn't have any significant information. After questioning for some time, no new information was obtained.

Chloe, surprisingly enough, wasn't mad. In her professional career, such was a common occurrence. Each time they held outdoor operations, the people they apprehended either knew nothing or were sealed lips, offering nothing. She had grown accustomed to it.

Lucifer, who was handling his first case, was not as patient. He knocked out the drug dealer and said, "Let's go, we'll head directly to the gang's headquarters."

"Hey, wait! You can't be so reckless, they have..."

Another half an hour later, as Chloe looked onto the mess of the room, she swallowed hard, surveying Lucifer, who was standing at the center of the room holding the neck of the gang leader of the Black Wave.

Chloe saw two demonic horns appear on Lucifer's head in a daze. The policewoman blinked and the horns disappeared. She believed that it was likely due to fatigue that she was having hallucinations.
