The slight strain in Calix's heart eased as soon as his eyes landed on the manor backlit by the setting sun. The place he had resided in for a few years seemed more welcoming than before.
After all, Calix perked up at the idea of seeing Leslie and Calliope after a long and busy day at work.
A chuckle escaped Calix's lips as he wondered what his wife and daughter were doing. He didn't worry much about Leslie but, the little Calliope could be naughty from time to time.
Slowing down the car on the long driveway, Logan finally pulled up under the roof of the front porch. Calix immediately unbuckled the seatbelt, ready to get out of the vehicle.
"Boss, I'll be here before six tomorrow," said Logan when Calix opened the door. He referred to being his boss' driver early in the morning.
"Yes. There's no changes so far."
"Roger."
