Seven days had passed since Ethan and Scarlett got acquainted with the Matriarch of the Human Race in the Black Forest—Hu Mejiang. She was a woman of integrity and maturity; most of her life was spent reading ancient scrolls or stories. But she was the epitome of boredom, too.

After they were acquainted, she did try to make moves on Ethan here and there to make fun of Scarlett, but Scarlett was like an eagle protecting its nest, and Hu Mejiang realized that Scarlett didn't take it as a joke and thus stopped. 

Ethan was fine with that, too; he had no plans of cheating on Scarlett or charming another woman. One Scarlett was enough headache—and he couldn't even satisfy her completely; looking for more women was seeking death.
