An unselfish act

The weather remained frigid despite the sun peaking out every now and again. 

It was still early in the afternoon the day they finally reached the mountain pass and began their ascent.

Thanks to the weather the mountain pass was left unattended which normally wasn't the case.

As mountain ranges can present formidable barriers to travel, whoever operates the pass shows their strength.

Managing the mountain pass has played a key role in trade, war, and both human and animal migration throughout history.

To see a mountain pass left abandoned was unusual but not a significant cause for concern.

It meant that no money would need to be exchanged for the group to travel by that route, which was fine with Sayid.

Since morning the sun had guided the group as they made their way up the steep incline. 

Now the sun rays started to fade, replaced by gloomy clouds.
