By the time William Cole arrived at the manor, the whole place was already on high alert.

Black Tortoise himself was stationed in the courtyard by Ruth Dawn's bedroom door. When he saw William Cole return, he immediately approached him, "Master!"

"How's Ruth doing?"

William Cole rushed toward the room.

Black Tortoise followed behind William Cole.

Just as William Cole reached the main entrance, he could hear growls from the room, "Ah! Get out! Everyone get out!"

"Creak——"

William Cole swiftly pushed the door open, only to see a woman with reddened eyes, clutching her quilt, her pretty face filled with fury.

William Cole gasped; he quickly went up to Ruth Dawn.

"Get lost!"

Ruth Dawn roared, though seemingly not recognizing William Cole and lunged at him aggressively.

William Cole cried out, "Ruth, it's me!"

Ruth Dawn hesitated a moment, and then continued lunging at William Cole, both hands grasping his neck forcefully.
