Chapter 14: Mrs. Thompson's Deep Love for Her Daughter

The servants rushed around anxiously, and a few even began to cry.

Seeing Molly standing there, one of them hurriedly approached and asked, "Miss, have you seen a woman in a red dress, around fifty years old?"

The young woman's eyes were red, and her shoulders trembled slightly. It was hard to tell if it was from worry or fear.

Molly shook her head.

The young woman, in tears, continued her search elsewhere.

Molly recalled reading gossip about Mrs. Thompson's mental struggles since her daughter went missing. She had never thought the dramatic rumors could be true.

Mrs. Thompson was quite pitiful.

There was no greater sorrow in the world than losing a child. It was said that Mrs. Thompson had longed for a daughter, giving birth to three boys before finally having her. Yet, just as she began to enjoy her family life, her child was taken away.

Thinking of this, Molly's heart felt heavy.
