Ch. 42: Grand Minister

"Mistress, we have a small problem." I heard, in the middle of training with Gohan, dad, and Uncle Raditz. We were expected to leave just about any day now, so my Core Girls running into a problem right now put me in a really bad mood. I'd recently let out a little bit more of my power, rising my full usable power up to around 10,000 or so, though I hadn't shown all of it off yet, for obvious reasons

"Hey, I think I'm going to cut out early today. I have some tidying up to do back at the dojo before we leave for Namek." I told them. The dojo was turning out to be a pretty good excuse for when I needed to run off to the Core. Since I'd created it on my own during the year that I'd been away from home, nobody had anything against me going there.

In the future, my plans for that dojo would make it a much worse excuse, but since Pigero was unfortunately dead right now, it was totally empty.

Leaving my family behind, I flew just out of sight before I concealed my ki. After that, I checked to ensure that King Kai wasn't watching me before I teleported into the Core.

"I didn't expect for you to come here personally... Grand Minister."

An angel who looked a lot like Whis was standing in the garden in front of my mansion, observing my girls as they took care of the plants that had mutated from Senzu Plants in my absence. Some of the plants were large, fruit bearing trees while others were small flowers, but each had a different effect on a person, from healing to killing. I'd recognized this particular angel from the Dragon Ball anime... It was Whis's father, the Grand Minister himself.

According to lore, the Grand Minister was the second strongest being in the multiverse, only outmatched by the Grand Zeno himself (The Dragon God Zalama didn't really count, since he only appeared from the Dragon Balls as fragments of himself). With the Grand Minister's power, he could annihilate the entire twelve universes whenever he wanted.

Fortunately for the greater cosmos, the Grand Minister was also responsible for ensuring that divine beings didn't interfere with the lower mortals too much. The only exceptions to this were, to a degree, Gods of Destruction. Even Kais couldn't interfere directly unless the situation was especially dire, like Majin Buu level or the like. That being the case, since Whis wasn't strong enough to destroy the Core himself, it was technically only natural that the Grand Minister come by to check it out. I just really didn't want to deal with him.

"It's nice to meet you, Hanna of Earth. It seems that everything that Whis has told me was completely true. I honestly found it hard to believe, but you don't seem to get GodNet reception here, so I had to check it out myself." The Minister told me, bowing a little bit, but I wasn't reassured. His natural divine element was Service, and it was always active to some extent. In other words, the aspect of 'Service' could be accurately seen as the core of his personality, in the same way that 'Nobility' was the Grand Zeno's core. He'd do anything to kill me if he deduced that I posed a threat to the Grand Zeno, regardless of the consequences. Essentially, he was a stupidly strong fanatic.

In fact, 'Service' was so deeply ingrained into his being that he'd mastered a second divine aspect, 'Instinct.' Instinct was one of the strongest Divine aspects out there, as shown by Goku's future growth. The only aspects stronger were ones of a higher element, such as Zeno's 'Nobility.'

"No, I decided that I didn't want any Angels just flying into my dimension unannounced." I told him, a little ticked off. Even if he'd mastered a Divine aspect, so had I. My current power was nothing, but if I took off my restrictions while my girls kept him busy, he wouldn't stand a chance against me. Each of my girls had also mastered the early stages of the 'Service' divine aspect, so they'd be able to hold him off... maybe even kill him, if the need existed.

"But GodNet has so many benefits!" He tried to sell me on 'GodNet,' but knowing what it was, I wasn't interested. It was basically just his own power, spread in a network in every single part of the multiverse. Allowing it to linger in my world would have been the same thing as joining the Core to Universe 7, which I'd fought against Whis to prevent.

I shook my head again, and he let the issue drop, "I'm here because I have a request for you." He admitted.

"A request, huh?" I looked at him with my best 'I don't believe you' face. There wasn't anything in this multiverse that he couldn't deal with. His only reason for asking for my help would be to test me. I wasn't very interested in his tests.

"Yes... I want to test you." He admitted, "I want to see what you plan on doing with the information that I'm going to grant you, so I'm going to make a special exception and ask you to interfere in a certain matter happening on the mortal plane." Knowing that I'd seen through him, he made his intentions perfectly transparent.

"What's the request?" I asked, my hostility barely hidden below the surface. I really didn't trust Angels, so the head Angel being in the Core was really starting to get to me.

"I need to go back and serve His Majesty as soon as we finish speaking, but I want to watch you deal with this small problem. There's a certain divine plant that has made its way onto the mortal plane and spread its seeds. It's so powerful that it's destroying the mortal worlds below on a fairly rapid basis. I'm offering to allow you to keep whatever parts of the tree you harvest, so long as you deal with all the mortals being affected by it." The Grand Minister offered.
