After her father died, her mother scolded and beat her almost every day. Her mother also told her to call Uncle Ling her father. Xiaohua knew her mother wanted to marry Uncle Ling because everyone in the village said so. 

However, she didn't want to call another man her father. So she hoped that Uncle Ling could find an aunt and get married soon. That way, her mother couldn't force her to call another man father.

Ling Yun didn't know that the little girl was thinking a lot in her little head. He watched her finish the soup dumplings without saying anything. After she finished eating the soup dumplings, he carried her over the fence and said, "Don't tell anyone about the soup dumplings, especially your mother."

Xiaohua was confused and asked, "Why?"

"Your aunt will be very sad if she knows that your mother comes to bother me again." Ling Yun said lightly.

"My aunt?" Xiaohua asked again.
