I stared at Woo-Bin, still confused. What was going on?
"Please, let go for a sec!" I said and he released me from his tight hug. "You're Woo-Bin, right?" I asked and his face lit up.
"Do you remember me now?" He asked but I shook my head.
"No, but I know you're a supermodel?" I said and his smile fell.
"It's not fair, Sun-bae! Why don't you remember me? We've been through so much together!" He said with a sulking face and I couldn't help but wonder what 'Hae-Won' did with him. Was it something steamy?
I was getting delusional again.
"May I ask, from where do I know you?" I asked, trying not to be rude. "My memory seems to be failing me these days!"
"We went to the same university together and studied in the same major, Sun-bae. You were my senior of over one year." He said and all of a sudden, I started recalling the memory.
Woo-Bin and Hae-Won were really good friends. He was an Alpha yet he got along pretty well with a beta. After he started his model training, he hardly had time for class and hardly contacted as well.
It got worse when he finally became famous. Hae-Won felt sad having lost his friend but it wasn't like he was expecting anything more anyway. Afterall, Woo-Bin was an Alpha.
I looked up with sad eyes as the emotions flooded my very heart. The feelings Hae-Won had after losing his friend were painful.
"Sun-bae, don't look at me like that!" He said with a sorry expression. "Did you forget me because I stopped contacting you? I'm at fault for that!" He said. "I'm sorry! The company I worked with wanted me to have little or no contact with anything that had to do with my past. But that doesn't change the fact that I suddenly ghosted you when it wasn't your fault. I'm sorry!"
After hearing his apology, I couldn't help but feel glad. My heart pounded with joy and understanding and I wiped the tears forming in my eyes.
"It's alright!" I said and smiled brightly. "It's all in the past!"
"Sun-bae… "
"Ahem!" The scary looking Alpha, who had been listening to our reconciliation suddenly reminded us that he was also in the room.
"Oh!" I exclaimed.
"Woo-Bin, come sit over here!" He said and he did just that. "Okay! I'll ask you a few questions."
"Alright!" I nodded.
"Do you have any criminal records?" He asked which surprised me but I guessed it was for safety reasons so I answered.
"No! I'm a law-abiding citizen!" I said.
"Will you pay for the rent in cash or kind?" He asked and I darted my eyes, embarrassingly.
"Kind!" I scratched my face lightly with my index finger. "I'm short of money at the moment!"
"Then, do you know how to cook?"
"Yes, do you want me to cook for you as payment?" He nodded with a simple smile and I felt my heart jog ten miles. He was so handsome!
"How old are you?"
"I am thirty-one!" I answered and he stared at me, shocked.
"Can I see your ID?"
'What is this, a police station?' I thought as I rummaged for my ID card.
"He's not lying, Sun-bae's two years older than me!" Woo-Bin defended but this guy was still in doubt till he checked out my ID card.
"He's so small for a thirty-one year old male beta! Are you sure you're not an Omega?" He asked, scornfully and my eye twitched.
"I'm a beta, as you can see. My outward growth has nothing to do with this!" I said over clenched teeth.
His eyes fell on my name and his eyebrows furrowed.
"What's wrong?" Woo-Bin asked him but he shook his head.
"It's nothing!" He gave me back my ID but was still sizing me up. "Your name is Hae-Won? Park Hae-Won?" He asked, as if he didn't already see it on my ID.
"Yes! My name is Hae-Won!" I smiled but was really pissed inside. Why was he doubting everything about me?
He kept asking questions and then he concluded by asking,
"And finally, what is the probability of you turning into an Omega from frequently inhaling pheromones?" He asked and I tilted my head. What was that supposed to mean?
"Sun-bae, have you ever smelt pheromones?" Woo-Bin asked and as I watched their serious expressions, an inkling feeling hit me.
Something told me not to speak truthfully or I'll get kicked out right away.
"No!" I lied. "I'm a beta! Why will I be able to smell pheromones?"
This gave them the conclusion they wanted but something told me this guy sitting in front of me wasn't yet convinced. Seriously, why was he doubting Thomas?
"Alright!" He said and got up.
"Wait!" Woo-Bin said. "Aren't you going to introduce yourself? You can't be mean to Sun-bae, okay? Go ahead and tell him your name?"
He turned to me and gave a twisted expression, like a bad memory hit him in the head. Was I so unpleasant to look at?
"My name is Sun Baek-Hyun!" He said and that hit me.
'Baek Hyun! Why does that name sound so familiar?' I kept thinking to myself. I looked up and our eyes met. It was as if he was searching my very soul for answers I knew nothing about. 'Do I also know him from somewhere?' I thought.
"Forget it!" He said and that made me worry. Really, did I know him from somewhere?
I wasn't recalling anything of the past that had to do with him. Was it because I needed more details like Woo-Bin's case?
No! Maybe I was overthinking it. If he knew me, he would've said so, right?
