"Is Little Lamb having a nightmare?" Dimitri whispered gently, while soothing the creases on her brows. The feeble whimpers and sobs she was making stabbed and cut his eardrums and clutched his heart. He would rather prefer her hurling insults against him than listening to these.

Under his gentle touches, the female's eyelids quivered, and they abruptly opened. Two of the most beautiful shades of turquoise green were now mixed with mist. She stared at him intensely, and a myriad of emotions were brewing within them.

Dimitri was at a loss and blinked to make sure he didn't see it wrong.

Because what he saw was pity, anguish, loss, and...love? And tears were flowing from the corners of her eyes as she did. Was that directed at him?
