Chapter 23: The Third Son

Beel and the two eldest sons were now standing in front of the door of the family head's office. Lenton reached out his hand and knocked, "Father, we're here, and we brought the new kid." A few seconds passed and the doors slowly opened into the head's office where Beel saw the current head of the Yenders family, Chroma Yenders, sitting at his desk. As soon as he laid eyes on him Beel could only think one thing about this man, 'Damn, how does he look like a humanoid lion with a purple mane but more vicious?!'

Chroma was quite intimidating, and he hadn't even looked up from his desk. As soon as they all stood in front of the desk Beel expected for the other two to do some kind of respectful greeting ritual, but that's not what happened, in fact, what happened was that Ze'al picked up one of the bottles of alcohol off of the heads desk, poured two glasses for himself and Lenton and they both sat down on the couch that was in the room. Beel watched this rude display and just didn't know what to do so he just sat down on the couch next to the other two.

"I see that you three have already acquainted yourselves." Chroma said out to them but hadn't looked away from his work yet. "So, you do recognize that we're here then why don't you tell us what the point was. Why did you summon us here?" Ze'al said as he took a sip from his glass. Chroma stopped working for a second before standing up and walking around his desk toward the couch the three were sitting at. "You are correct. I apologize if I caused you three any form of disrespect or discomfort." Beel was confused by the sincerity within the apology, but he looked at Ze'al and Lenton they seemed to have expected this from Chroma.

"Since you seem ready to talk to us now can I repeat the question that my dear brother's question and ask why you told us to come here because it clearly wasn't to give a warm welcome to your sons that were coming home from their adventure." Lenton slowly leaned forward and glared at his father. "Quite the opposite actually, I asked for you all to come here to introduce you two to Beel and to introduce Beel to you two." The three on the couch all had very confused looks. "Why would you be going out of your way to introduce Beel to us. Isn't he just another contract child? Is there something special about Beel?"

Chroma lifted his eyebrows slightly and turned to Beel. "You mean that you haven't told them? Well, I guess this kind of information should come from me. I just didn't think they these two would be hanging around with you unless you had told them." Ze'al and Lenton both turned to Beel and saw that even Beel was confused at this point. "Do you mean my 99% blood purity or my three abilities?" Ze'al choked on his drink while Lenton spit his out and stood from the couch. "Did you just say a 99% blood purity?" Ze'al grabbed Beel's shoulders and looked into his eyes. "What are your three abilities?"

"I have Greater Mana Manipulation, Advance Aura, and Spatial Manipulation." Ze'al and Lenton both were now both standing up and staring at Beel with their eyes opened as wide as they could. Chroma was laughing heartily at his shocked sons, "Oh, thank you so much Beel. It's been too long since I've seen these two so surprised by anything." Chroma slowly calmed down as he sat down behind his desk once again. "Now, let's talk about the real reason that I called you four here." Ze'al and Lenton had forced themselves to think about the information that they had just learned later when they heard Chroma speak.

"What do you mean you four? There's only three of us in here." Beel may not have had a formal education, but he was quite confident in his ability to count and knew that there were only three people in the room. "That's because the last one has just arrived. Wicknel you may now enter the room." At this moment the doors to the room opened and a boy that seemed around Beel's age entered the room. "I graciously greet you father." The boy gave a deep bow to Chroma. "I see that you two are here as well, my dear elder brothers."

"So Beel, do have any interest in magic because I'm quite good at and could show you a few things that might interest you."

"Do you have any preference in what weapon that you use? If not, then I can help you pick one out and then we could start sparring." Lenton and Ze'al were both ignoring Wicknel and talking to Beel which caused Beel to be a bit confused. "Alright you two. Now that everyone's here I have a very important announcement to make." Everyone stopped and looked at Chroma as Chroma motioned for Beel to walk toward him. "Wicknel, this is Beel, and he has just recently joined the Yenders family as a contract child. Beel this is Wicknel and he is the Yenders family's third son."

"Hi, I guess?" Beel reached out his hand for Wicknel to shake but it was smacked out of the air by the one in question. "I have no wishes to touch the hand of a poor, worthless, contractee." Beel looked rubbed his hand and stared at Wicknel who was currently glaring at him. "Alright, now that you two have gotten to know each other's personalities I will continue." Chroma cleared his throat.

"I've brought you all together to discuss something or someone of great importance."  Chroma looked at Beel. "Wicknel. How old are you again?" Wicknel straightened his jacket and cleared his throat before answering. "I am 15 as of this year father." Chroma nodded and then gestured to Beel. "And how old are you?" Beel was confused but answered, "I'm 16." hesitatingly. Chroma slowly nodded his head. "Well then that makes everything easy. Congratulations Beel, you are the new third son of the Yenders family."

Beel's eyes opened wide with shock, and he went to say something but not before...

"WHAT?!" Everyone looked at Wicknel after he screamed. "F-fa-father, I-I-I d-do-don't understand? Why is he the new third son. I'm the third son of this Yenders family." Chroma looked at Wicknel with a serious face. "What is the problem, boy? He is older than you do you need any more explanation." Chroma stayed seated but stone-cold resolve was in his voice. "Yes, father I would. I have a blood purity of 46% and that is the highest in the family aside from you, Ze'al, and Lenton. How could you replace me with this talentless bumpkin?!"

"99" Ze'al was the one that spoke up this time. "What did you say?" Wicknel and Ze'al looked at each other and Ze'al spoke again. "Beel's blood purity is 99% so if you want to try to reclaim your old position, I suggest that you don't try to use your 'talent' as a reason." Wicknel froze. He didn't expect Beel to have a higher blood purity than him and he also didn't expect for it to surpass even Ze'al's. "Now that all that has been said you may all go to your rooms. Ah, Beel Patty will lead you to yours so follow her once you leave."

"With all due respect father, I think that you should listen to m-"

"I said, YOU MAY LEAVE!" Wicknel tried to plead with Chroma once more, but it was no use, so he stormed out of the office in a fit of rage. The remaining three said their goodbyes and returned to their separate rooms.

"I guess my life is going to be a bit more complicated now. And I'm already hungry." Beel followed Patty to the room of which he would now be staying in. Not fully grasping just how much his life was really going to change.
