I had to admit Natasha lived up to her title as one of the world's best spies. She easily adapted to my lie and didn't flinch when I slid my hand around her waist. Bruce was pretending to be watching a good show all while he continued to watch and study our reactions. Meanwhile Tony seemed to be eating up the story I came up with nudging Pepper with a smile on his face. Pepper only rolled her eyes at his antics but still had a light smile.

Bruce Wayne seemed genuinely surprised when I openly revealed that I wasn't from either of their original universes before they merged. Tony bragged about having worked with me in the field as iron man fortunately he never discussed the details no matter how Bruce tried to pry. Eventually, our little clique was broken up as both Tony and Bruce were called away by different important individuals.

Natasha: So we're dating now?

"You had the chance to correct me but I didn't hear you complaining"

Natasha: That was for the mission I couldn't risk breaking cover

"Suuure... It was only because of the mission..."

Natasha: I'll admit I'm not opposed to the idea you are handsome, capable, and funny

"So are you saying that I am your type? I'm flattered but I'll have you know that if you expect to get in my pants it's not that easy you have to wine and dine me first"

We shared a laugh before continuing with the mission to keep the dignitaries safe during the event. So we continued to mingle with certain people that Natasha had suspected while also meeting with those who approached us due to her status or my involvement with Bruce or Tony. After a while, it seemed that Natasha was starting to let her guard down as we were halfway through with the gala with zero signs of trouble. I on the other hand couldn't seem to relax because I was in Gotham and I only expected trouble.

Hearing the glass to the windows shattering I immediately knew that I was right to not let my guard down. People began to panic as gas filled the museum as those who breathed in the toxins began to scream, cry, and piss themselves in terror. I instantly knew that this was the work of Scarecrow I pull out my helmet from my inventory and immediately put it on.

I then began my psionic power pulling the gas towards me making sure to keep Natasha safe from exposure. compressing the gas into a ball that I kept floating around me sucking up and pockets of fear toxin I missed. As we passed by the various victims I used my abilities to suppress the fear center of their minds allowing them to think clearly, evacuate and receive treatment. As Scarecrow never expected a situation like this he was shocked until he spotted us.

"I am an agent of Shield surrender or I will use lethal force"

Scarecrow: Fuck You! You...

At that moment, batman Dropped down dramatically along with the rest of the family. Not wasting any time whatsoever they immediately began beating down the criminals in a way that made police brutality seem like a better option. I could hear bones getting broken from almost every punch from Batman. Scarecrow tried to run the moment he saw Batman but Batgirl (Barbra Gordon) kicked him right in the face.

Natasha wanted to interfere but I held her back as we weren't certain if they would attack us as well. Instead, we waited for the bat family to finish mopping up the criminals before moving to act.

Nightwing: You guys were a great help fighting those thugs back there (full of sarcasm)

"We prioritized the safety of civilians above all else and had the situation well in hand without your unnecessary intervention"

Robin: Clearly when you threatened people's lives

"I gave a clear warning to surrender before initiating any action and identified myself as an agent of Shield an official branch of the government"

Bluebird: He is right Robin you wouldn't tell a cop not to use his firearm after all that would you? (Batgirl nodding along)

Batman: It doesn't matter he is a type of metahuman with the ability to easily solve the situation without bloodshed but chose to threaten with lethal force. I don't know if he would have acted upon his threat but I don't trust him enough to stand by and wait for the consequences.

"Says the man who came unannounced and viciously attacked the criminals breaking bones in the process. I know that the justice league works with the government but it is not part of it and therefore doesn't answer to any authority. Had you been a cop the men you put in the hospital would be able to sue you for your actions. You may not like or trust me but at least if I do something out of line I am held responsible for my action. What about you can you say the same?"
