Brotherhood and Betrayal

"We are humbled by your presence, Lord Sigmund!" The general humbly greeted as he knelt and bowed in respect to the powerful mage. The duke stood from his seat as his way of showing respect while he also bowed his head.

"Please rise!"

"It's a great time to grace your presence, Lord Sigmund."

"I am sure you have dealt it better than I would," Sigmund retorted.

"I won't be audacious to agree with you on that. It still brings a lingering doubt even after taking an oath." The duke looked forlorn as he stooped his head, trying to avoid Sigmund's searching eyes.

"Because you value your friendship with him. He has been like your elder brother since you were young. That's understandable." Sigmund tried to convey an enlightening statement.
