After listening to Master Daniel's detailed narration, Mark finally understood the ins and outs of today's bizarre incident.
It all started with the once-in-a-millennium Nine Realms Convergence event that occurred last winter. Dark elves, harnessing the power of a spatial gem, suddenly appeared on Earth, posing a grave threat to the London sanctum.
In response, the sorcerer who was guarding the New York sanctum at that time, Master Daniel, was called upon to come and assist in preventing any accidental damage to the sanctum in London.
However, before the dark elves could cause trouble on Earth, they were swiftly dealt with by Mark, who wasn't yet a master of secret arts but had access to advanced weapons.
With the crisis ended, Daniel and the other Sorcerer who had been fully prepared to confront the dark elves had no chance to demonstrate their abilities.
But although the major threat from the dark elves was resolved without any damage to the London sanctum, the Nine Realms Convergence caused some degree of spatial disturbance among the nine Realms, pulling them together and leading to spatial anomalies.
Moreover, the dark elves' use of a cosmic cube for teleportation caused significant spatial energy, making the already tumultuous spatial boundaries even more chaotic. This resulted in accidentally transporting some otherworldly beings from different Realms to Earth.
As a general rule, secret art mages were not responsible for handling these kinds of troubles unless they involved interdimensional invasions or posed a threat to Earth's safety like the events during the New York battle.
During that time, although Loki and the Chitauri army posed a significant threat to human civilization, the Ancient One, despite her immense power as a supreme sorcerer, only dealt with the invaders near the New York sanctum and did not help the Avengers close the spatial portal, the source of the threat.
Indeed, the Ancient One's strength as a supreme mage was such that she could suppress various dimensional explorations aimed at Earth all by herself, showcasing just how formidable she was.
While she is alive, even Thanos didn't dare to personally attack Earth or entertain any thoughts of obtaining the Time Stone, purely out of fear of the Ancient One's power.
Of course, if Loki and the Chitauri's actions ultimately endangered the lives of the majority of humans, Ancient One and the sorcerers of Kamar-Taj would have intervened to stop them.
After all, Kamar-Taj's lineage required new blood, and the source naturally came from ordinary humans in the mundane world who possessed the innate potential to become sorcerers. If all humans were to be wiped out, then even the Ancient One's formidable power would be in vain.
Nevertheless, in the aftermath of the Nine Realms Convergence, the two young and passionate sorcerers, Daniel and guardian of London sanctum, decided to take matters into their own hands and discreetly deal with these extraterrestrial creatures to prevent unnecessary trouble and panic in the mundane world.
They went into hiding within the Mirror Space and acted separately, quickly disposing of the troublemakers. Their approach was swift and decisive, as they would spot one, take them into the Mirror Space, and then use offensive secret arts to deliver a fatal blow.
And as for the bodies of these extraterrestrial creatures, they can be handed over to the skilled craftsmen of Kamar-Taj. They can use the fur and bones from these creatures to create sorcerer robes with certain defensive properties or special artifacts.
Because these creatures from the Nine Realms inherently possess a certain affinity for magic, the materials taken from them are tougher and more resilient compared to ordinary ones. Some can even conduct the magical energy of a sorcerer, enhancing their abilities.
However, just as things were about to come to a close, Daniel found himself at a loss when faced with the last extraterrestrial creature he had to deal with.
But this doesn't mean that Daniel was defeated by the creature's formidable strength. Instead, he was defeated by its familiar and cute display of coquetry.
This strange, four-legged, hairless creature, after being pulled into the Mirror Space by Master Daniel, didn't go on a rampage out of fear as expected. Instead, it behaved exceptionally docile and extended its big tongue to lick Daniel, leaving him covered in sticky saliva.
Afterward, this massive creature, much taller and longer than Daniel, acted like a pet dog and squatted next to him, rubbing its big head against his arm.
In that moment, Daniel's kind-hearted nature was softened by the creature's affectionate behavior. He ultimately decided to give up killing it and instead secretly hid it away, claiming that he had already slain all the invading creatures, thus concluding the operation.
From then on, Daniel frequently shuttled between the New York sanctum and the creature's hiding place in London, becoming its caregiver. He officially named this peculiar and adorable creature "Cutie" and treated it as his pet.
Daniel didn't reveal this little secret to anyone else, and he was very discreet about his actions. With Cutie safely hidden in an abandoned factory on the outskirts of London under his careful protection, nobody else discovered its presence.
Until not long ago, when Mark took over the responsibility as the guardian of the New York sanctum from Daniel, Daniel voluntarily requested to be transferred to the London sanctum to continue his duties.
Seizing this opportunity, Daniel brought Cutie to the sanctum to take care of it. Having such an affectionate companion by his side made the once tedious and monotonous guard duty much more bearable.
However, perhaps due to being confined in a small space for a long time, Cutie started becoming more mischievous, often running amok inside the sanctum, causing chaos.
Until today, when it accidentally rushed into the teleportation portal connecting the London sanctum and the New York sanctum and was brought under control by the Terminator, Daniel's little secret could no longer be kept hidden.
As Daniel was a sorcerer of Kamar-Taj and the guardian of the London sanctum, the Terminator couldn't decide whether to take action against Cutie, who invaded the sanctum.
In the end, the Terminator had no choice but to send a distress call and report the situation to Mark.
Faced with the unyielding Terminator and Mark's scrutinizing expression, Daniel had no choice but to explain the truth to Mark.
Regarding this peculiar event, Mark was quite speechless after learning the truth.
He couldn't really find any fault with Master Daniel's actions, considering that Daniel had diligently carried out his duty to safeguard the sanctum's security and hadn't caused any negative consequences due to his affection for Cutie.
In the end, Mark let Daniel off the hook and promised not to report the matter to the Supreme Sorcerer. However, he requested Daniel to keep a close eye on Cutie and ensure that such a mix-up wouldn't happen again.
At the same time, Mark reminded him not to neglect his responsibility of guarding the sanctum. Otherwise, if the Supreme Sorcerer were to hold them accountable, the consequences would be serious.
