The village had some snake's hide that Kane could use to create some pieces of cloth that could protect him quite a bit in stock, but Kane didn't feel like asking for some. Not only would it be rude to ask for something he didn't work to obtain, but he also didn't want to owe favors to anyone. Perhaps if he had skinned the bees he killed, he could trade for it, but he forgot to do it.

Kane didn't have much to do in the village, given that he was a stranger to everyone. Still, Emma and Jacob, and also the fact that he looked more fearsome than the other goblins, adding the fact that he was missing one eye, he looked like many things but not friendly. His usual behavior of not letting anyone get too close didn't help either. So, Kane spent his time alone while everyone was having dinner. However, after a while, Emma and Jacob approached.
