After Mr. Garner left Primo on the bench, he pondered about it. He was surprised that Mr. Garner knew about him. It only showed the old man in the same ward as he wasn't just a normal patient, just like everyone else. Even so, Primo didn't have to feel the need to feel hostile. Perhaps because, at one point, death didn't terrify him anymore.
Primo thought of death countless times before coming to this place. Therefore, even if Mr. Garner was bad news, he didn't feel the need to struggle. That was right. Primo might not be able to take his own life; if someone came to do that for him, he wouldn't mind.
