Meeting Ho-Oh

Ash woke up quite early in the day, 'another day another dollar' he looked over and saw his Pokemon were still sleeping. He started preparing breakfast for all of them, and some woke up after a bit. Once they did he gave them their food then Ash moved over to the lake and pulled out his fishing rod and Pokedex.

While he started fishing for water Pokemon he had his Pokemon continue practicing and training, the birds were still working towards steel wing, but if they got it down they would try and learn Tailwind. Pikachu was told to learn double kick, mainly by throwing his body towards a rock or tree and kicking. Bellsprout tried to learn Wrap which was easy for him he just squeezed a rock. Oddish tried to learn a more valuable move, Leech seed.

As time went by Ash fished and released countless Magicarp and a few Poliwag. But nothing that piqued his interest, as he continued fishing he had a thought, "I wonder if there's a way I can keep more than 6 Pokemon at a time, if I remember correctly Damian had like 10 Pokemon at a time, maybe more I don't remember." He decided to open his Pokedex and look through the options.

"I wonder if there's a way to turn off the automatic teleportation feature, I would probably need permission from Oak, but maybe since I got that Upgrade maybe I can–" As he was thinking he was pulled out of his thoughts by a strong pull from his fishing line.

He decided to think about it later and started pulling. Whatever was pulling on his line was definitely strong, stronger than most of what he had caught, but that didn't mean much since he mostly caught Magicarp. As he pulled hard out of the water came out a Poliwag.

This Poliwag was above average size, Ash used the Pokedex he had in his hand.

Ash saw this and smirked, "Perfect, with this I can at least mostly guarantee to get through the first Gym, and it will be good to become a Poliwrath later." Ash looked towards his Pokemon and called over his Bellsprout.

"Hey buddy, want some real battle experience," Ash asked Bellsprout while pointing towards the Poliwag that was currently floating and staring at them.

Bellsprout stared over at the Poliwag and then nodded at Ash. and stepped forward ready to fight. Seeing this Poliwag got ready as well.

"Bellsprout, Growth then grab it with a Vine whip, you need to pull it out of the water," Ash commanded.

Bellsprout heard this and let the energy from the sun enter his body and feeling himself get bigger he pulled out vines from his back and threw them at the Tadpole and raised it out of the water.

As this happened the Poliwag started struggling and used Bubble Beam wildly trying to break free, Bellsprout was hit with a few bubbles but due to type disadvantage and Poliwag being weaker, it didn't do much.

"Bellsprout use wrap then slam it into the ground," Ash commanded as he pulled out a Pokeball

Bellsprout squeezed the Tadpole in his vines and then threw it into a tree. This left Poliwag very weak, so Ash thought of a Pokeball, 1 role,2 roles,3 roles, 'Ding'.

"Great Job buddy," Ash said as he walked over to the Pokeball, 'With that I have 6 Pokemon in my team, but I still want to try and find a Magicarp and if I can a Scyther. Samurai live around here. I wonder if he would know, he is a bug specialist if I remember. I wonder if Gary or Green have fought him.'

After Ash picked up the Pokeball he released Poliwag, he then gave it some medicine and then practiced his Aura healing, it was certainly getting better but it wasn't perfect by any means. So he put Poliwag back to rest.

He turned over to his Pokemon and yelled out, "Ok guys, that's enough training for now we need to keep moving, so as we walk you all can beat up any Pokemon we come across to practice your moves."

As they moved through the forest they came across a lot of Pokemon mainly bug Pokemon and a few single Bedrills. Ash let them take down as many as they could, though he wasn't stupid he didn't let his Pokemon fight large hordes of Beedrill. But he also kept a lookout for a Magicarp and let Bellsprout and Oddish fight any rejects they found on the way.

After some time walking through the forest, they came across an interesting sight. Ash saw two golden Pokemon, it was a shiny Weedle and Caterpie. Ash was surprised to see this so he pulled out his Pokedex and scanned them.

(Author note: So the Caterpie was a last-minute addition, I flipped a coin to see if one appeared, you'll note that during the next few chapters, there won't be much talk about the Caterpie because I did it last minute during editing.)

Ash was surprised and frustrated with how his luck is never good when he wants it to be, 'Why I didn't want a Caterpie, but of course, it's shiny, I shouldn't catch it but the shiny hunter in me won't let me.' Ash just pulled out two Pokeballs and threw them at the worms, they were both taken by surprise and caught very fast, they didn't even put up a fight before there was a 'Ding'.

'Well I will send these two to Oak for now since it won't be useful for the first Gym' Ash thought as he Picked up the Pokeballs and they were enveloped in a bright white light.

After they were gone Ash heard a loud cry, as he turned around to see it he saw a large rainbow bird sitting in a tree watching him, Spearow seemed to want to attack but Ash managed to stop him before he flew and attacked the legendary Bird.

Ash was not stupid enough to try and attack or to throw a Pokeball at a legendary at his level. So he just tried to make sure his Pokemon didn't try to anger or attack the rainbow bird. Meanwhile, Ho-Oh was staring at Ash with interest.

Ho-Oh looked over at the pond next to the large tree then looked at Ash before flapping its wings and starting to fly away. But before it did it dropped a feather and flew off into the rainbow. Ash caught the feather and felt more frustrated.

'Well I have a rainbow wing now, so now the Pokemon with a temper tantrum, Marshadow, is going to be following me and trying to corrupt me. Well thankfully I should be able to resist the corruption with Aura, but I will need to practice with it' Ash thought, then he looked over at the pond that Ho-Oh looked at. And when he got there he saw a small Magikarp stuck in the pond. So Ash pulled out his Pokedex and scanned the fish.

'Well that's convenient, thank you Ho-Oh.' Ash thought as he pulled out a Pokeball and threw it at the Magikarp, It was caught with no problem because it is already quite weak. After it was caught Ash transferred it over to Oak.

'With that, the only Pokemon I want in Viridian forest is a Scyther. Welp I can probably Ask Samurai once I see him around here, for now, I should do some more training.' Ash thought as he got all his Pokemon together.

He decided to get them to try to train, Bellsprout would train to learn Bullet Seed, Spearow, and Pidgy learned steel wing so they started trying to learn Tailwind. Meanwhile, Poliwag got better and started working to learn Rain Dance, Oddish was struggling for Leech seed but getting better, and Pikachu decided to sleep of course he did.

As Ash prepared their lunch, he pulled out the wing and had a thought, 'If I have this that means that I am going to have to go through the events of the I chose you movie, when will that happen and how will Cross play into all of this. That's too much to think about for now, I can barely remember everything about that movie.'

After some time his Pokemon were exhausted, so he gave them each their food and some Pokeblocks to rest. Meanwhile, Ash sat down and started thinking as he ate.

Like normal some Pokemon were around staring at the food and some tried their luck and failed. But while Ash was practicing his Aura sensing he felt something different approaching. It was different yet familiar so Ash got up and walked over to where he sensed the one approaching.

As he looked through the trees a Doduo came running with someone sitting on it, he saw someone with long yellow hair and a straw hat, but before he could see who it was, the Doduo stopped and the person fell off and crashed into Ash.

"I'm sorry are you o–Ash?" the person asked, as she recognised Ash.

"Wha- Yellow, what are you doing here?"

Welp if I'm being honest I forgot Yellow lived in a village inside Viridian forest, I thought Yellow wouldn't show up until right before he would go to the Indigo League, but I was wrong and now I had to change my plans.

Also, I should probably say this now, for Pokemon for other trainers I will use any Pokemon that that trainer has canonically used anywhere; in anime, manga, a game, Ect.
