Chapter 34 - Cavalry Battle

"Alright, these are the teams..." Midnight announced before pointing his finger at the large screen which displayed the 11 teams that made up the participants, there being only two two-person teams.

Most of the participants in the festival were teaming up with people of the same class. This is because the two classes do not trust each other due to what happened in UA before the start of the Festival where the other Classes accused Class 1A of being arrogant, cocky brats with ego boosts just for defeating some lowly Villains.

This is all due to the jealousy felt by the other Classes of Class 1A. While most of the other Classes look down on them, they don't hate them. However, Class 1B has a deep hatred originating from envy.

Their thinking is: "Why can't we fight against Villains! They have preference for the other Class! UA doesn't favor us at all!"

'A childish and silly thought. Suitable for arrogant 15 year olds' Aizawa thought with disdain and derision. 'If they knew the psychological and physical damage USJ caused on any of my students they wouldn't think that way...'

All UA staff were aware of this irrational hatred on the part of the other Classes, but they were not about to move to help Class 1A. After all, a Hero's life is not only about facing Villains, but also about surviving in a business where the weak and the merciful lose and the strong and the rancorous win, a world where those who should be your allies may try to bring you down in order to gain a little fame and riches....

This is especially true with the Hero Agencies which are constantly sabotaging each other in order to gain an advantage over the other Agencies. After all, greed can drive humans to make atrocious decisions.

Back to the cavalry battle. Aizawa had to admit that his Class was in trouble.

To everyone, it was quite obvious that Class 1B was much more cooperative and organized than Class 1A. Giving them the advantage of teamwork and togetherness as a group.

Meanwhile, Class 1A is competing against itself and the other Classes at the same time. The most serious aspect of this situation is that their Three Idiots actively seek to destroy each other. 

This is a disadvantage, as Class 1A is in chaos, mainly because of the lack of Leaders in it. As much as I hate it, Class 1A didn't have many born leaders or people with the balls to give orders and think calmly. 

A great example of this chaos is Sero's team where Kyoka is the Head of the Horse, that's a big mistake. Mainly because Kyoka doesn't have a great physique which makes her easy to take down, not to mention her height. It would be better to place her as the Horse's Back where she can give quick instructions.

And despite all the mess that is their Class, they may still have a very good chance of winning due to experience and many of them possessing stupidly powerful Quirks.

'I wonder who will win' Aizawa thought curiously looking at the start of the Cavalry Battle.

"BEGIN!" Shouted PresidentMic announcing the start of a fierce battle between the 11 teams.

Immediately Lena ordered Shoji to completely cover her with his limbs and create eyes to watch all the surrounding movements.

"OXTOOON!"

"GIVE ME THAT BANDANA!"

"YOU'RE DEAD MEAT!"

As expected the bulk of the participants went after Lena and her team in a desperate attempt to get the million point bandana. The smarter ones decided to go after the distracted teams to steal their bandanas without them noticing.

'Let the game begin...'

Midoriya was having a hard time.

While he was aware that most groups would go for Lena he also knew that being Number 2 the scavengers would mark him as a priority target.

What he didn't expect was that Bakugo would be one of the scavengers.

"Tokoyami!!!" Midoriya shouted at Tokoyami when he saw Bakugo attacking him from the air with his blasts and a murderous grin. Fortunately Dark Shadow was able to repel Bakugo although the light from the explosion made him cower a bit. "Let's move!"

"Shit!" Bakugo exclaimed as he fell from a great height only to be saved by his team who managed to time the fall correctly and catch him before he hit the ground. "Grr..."

"What are you a rabid dog?" suddenly Monoma suddenly appeared behind Bakugo quickly removing the chamois from his head while looking at Bakugo with a mocking face. "Like taking candy from a baby."

"Who the fuck are you and how dare you steal from me!" shouted Bakugo at the top of his lungs as his eyes were bloodshot and he glared at Monoma with hatred. "DIE!"

<Meanwhile... >

"Good job Oxton" Shoji congratulated his partner, thanks to Lena they had been able to dodge all the teams leaving them confused enough to start fighting each other. "That was smart."

"I told you to call me Lena. And it was a good win now just make sure no one gets close to us and we'll win easily, if anything really dangerous happens or we get attacked by two teams at once let me know and I'll get us out of there, got it?" Lena said as she settled on Shoji's back, there was enough room for two more people so Lena had plenty of room to stretch out.

"Yes" Shoji nodded at Lena's words.

Lena's master plan was... run and hide.

Lena knew she was a juicy steak for the other teams and that the vast majority of the participants would be coming for her. So taking advantage of that I look for someone strong, tough enough to take the vast majority of things head on, and I found Shoji.

And, surprise, surprise, he was willing to team up with Lena.

For Lena it was like winning the lottery. Only instead of giving her millions of dollars, she was given the chance to win easily.

How?

With her Quirk obviously. While she was tired of using it and could feel her energy draining quickly and the waves whipping her from time to time, she still decided to make the effort and do something she had learned over the past two weeks.

She had learned to unfreeze things from her Acceleration.

Now, Lena was rolling some good dice as she had never tried it on anyone... but it worked!

With Lena's time stop to flee and Shoji to defend they had a damn impregnable defense! 

Some will say this strategy is cowardly, but the important thing is to win no matter what the mode!

'I should take a break after this test... I'm getting pretty tired...' Lena thought as she let out a sigh. 'Maybe eat before the last test...'

"Do you see anything through your eyes?" Lena asked feeling that everything was too quiet.

"Teams struggling, but all normal" Shoji reported as he stood still for a moment, apparently he needed to process all the information his eyes were relaying which takes a while. "Oh."

"What's wrong?" asked Lena preparing to use another acceleration. But suddenly she felt everything shaking violently.

'Holy crap! Who used the Nuke?!' Lena thought with a giggle. 'I'm going to bet on Bakugo, Kyoka or one of the other Classes.'

"Don't worry, I can take it" Shoji said as calmly as he could before running off at high speed in search of a safer place as the ground continued to shake. "I just hope the ground doesn't break..."

'Truly an impregnable defense' Lena thought with a smile on her face.
