Within the grand halls of King William's palace, Duke Kayden stood before the king's imposing throne, a sense of unease in the air. The room was illuminated by flickering torches and adorned with rich tapestries that seemed to close in on the Duke.

"Kayden," King William began, his voice tinged with suspicion, "I have summoned you here to discuss a matter of great concern."

Kayden, his shoulders squared, met the king's gaze with unwavering determination. "Of course, my lord. I am at your service."

King William's piercing eyes bore into Kayden. "There have been reports of your excessively close relationship with Lady Helena and her children. It has come to my attention that you have adopted the twins as your own."

Kayden's jaw clenched as he sought to control his rising anger. "My relationship with Lady Helena is not your concern, my lord. My duty was to capture her and imprison her and her forces. That task is now complete."
