Louis's eyes took on a shadow as he asked, "Madelyn's up?"
Morris recalled Madelyn's words and retorted, "Bright-eyed and bushy-tailed! Doesn't seem like someone who just woke up from a coma."
Catching a strange note in Morris's voice, Louis prodded, "What went down?"
Rather than giving a straight answer, Morris vaguely replied, "You know, the worker who 'dropped' the bucket at the construction site yesterday? Maybe check him out. Could be useful later."
Louis picked up on the emphasis on "dropped" and, remembering Gregg and Bella's behavior last night, connected the dots. "Thanks," he said, pivoting to leave.
Once in his car, he dialed his assistant, directing, "The worker who 'dropped' the bucket at the construction site yesterday afternoon, look into it. Handle it yourself and keep it on the down-low. Might be needed later."
