-------------------------------------------------------------

Getting a ride in the Bat mobile sounded just as cool as it was. After the attempted robbery. Batman had deemed my current residence unsafe and decided it would be best to take me to the Hall of Justice, while he tried to get down to bottom of this.

Catwoman was the only one who saw me use the talismans and must have followed Batman and listened in on our conversation and decided to steal them, which was highly suspicious with Falcone on the hunt for me.

Thinking back on the events that had just transpired, a small part of me suspected Batman let Selina go on purpose, either that or he was worried about me bolting the moment he got his eyes off me. I was incredibly frustrated and angry with this whole situation, but I didn't have anybody else to blame but myself... and possibly Batman.

On second thought, it was definitely Batman's fault.

If it weren't for the fact he spent months trying to track me down, solely due to his paranoia. We wouldn't be in this situation and Catwoman would have never found me.

Thankfully I still had my talismans and wasn't planning on letting them out of my sight for the forseeble future. They were simply too dangerous to be left unattended, and I was quickly realizing they could easily become a liability, something I guessed Batman was starting to realize.

After that little scuffle back at my apartment, I was told to pack my bags, and while Batman wasn't paying attention I quickly grabbed the Oni mask, which I had hidden in a different place than my talismans and slipped it into my bag.

I figured it wouldn't be wise for me to leave the mask behind and although I wasn't planning on using it for the time being. I figured it could serve as a hidden trump card, when I figured out what it could do.

"I'm taking you to a secure location until things calm down. Falcone's men are still looking for you and your location has been compromised. You also need to tell me what those stones can do, and why someone would want them?" He said.

I was silent for a bit as I contemplated what to say. Seeing as the cat was practically out of the bag, and he was bound to find out either way since I actually planned on using them on the field.

I decided to tell him a censored version. It would earn me a little more trust and it also gave me the chance to leave out some details, without tipping off my hand too much.

" Like I said, these stones are family heirlooms, but they're more than just stones. They are called Talismans and each Talisman has great power sealed with in it." I said.

He gave me a nod signaling he was listening, but his eyes were still focused on the road.

" Can anybody use them? And what kind of powers are we talking about here?" He asked.

I sighed, " To be honest I am not sure if anybody other than can use them, since I couldn't risk someone figuring out my identity or getting their hands on them. As for the powers you have got the ones you already know about and previously mentioned like invisibility, superspeed, superstrength, telekinesis, and flight. Add to that, some increased durability, shape-shifting, pyrokinesis, and heat vision."

I was met with shocked silence before he said. "Are you telling me that anybody with these talismans can obtain these powers?"

I shrugged. "Potentially. But, like I said I didn't get a chance to check. " I said.

What I didn't tell him though, was that I neglected to mention some of the powers of my talisman.

I thought it prudent to leave out a few details, since I didn't see the advantage of informing him on every single aspect of my powers. He was bound to do his own investigations and I figured even If I wasn't able to hide it for long, it could prove as an advantage incase anything happens. After all, information leaks were a thing and I didn't want to risk it.

It was for that the reason I left out the talismans I wasn't planning out on using in the field for either being too esoteric, dangerous or highly situational.

I mean let's take the Tiger talisman's powers for example. How was I supposed to explain that it could split up a person into an evil and good version of themselves without sounding like a complete nut job? And, when would I ever get to use it? I was already trying to figure out another use for it, since I didn't think it was only useful for making evil clones out of people, but until then that would be it.

The Sheep talisman's power on the other hand, were simply insurance. I had to keep some stuff in the bag so to speak, since I don't think it would be wise to reveal I had the ultimate spying tool any organization would kill to have. I mean imagine Amanda Waller with this thing? Or Ra' z Al Ghoul.

Similarly the Dog talisman's power of immortality was also left out, since I didn't want it mentioned on any record that I had a talisman that could grant immortality and preferred if people just thought that it just made me extra sturdy and was simply passed off as some from of invulnerability.

Lastly the Rat talismans powers just seemed to cause more trouble than they were worth. Any statue I would potentially try and animate wouldn't follow orders and would do it's own thing.

Perhaps if I tried to animate statues of certain people that could be useful somehow, but I simply didn't see it all that useful in a combat situation with no statues around. I would still try and figure something out, but for now it was shelved.

I swore I almost heard him growl. " These powers would be incredibly dangerous in the wrong hands."

" I totally agree, but look at the bright side, at least they ended up with someone who's trying to do some good with them." I said.

"It still doesn't make it any less concerning. You're lucky I was there when Catwoman showed up. " He said.

"Well, if you hadn't taken them out we wouldn't be here would we." I coldly said.

" Catwoman is a master theif, Did you really think she wasn't going to find them? Hiding them under the floorboard wasn't exactly subtle. If I wasn't there she would have simply stolen them, while you were sleeping, she would have eventually tracked you down and found you. " He said.

It still didn't change the fact that he was the one who lead her their, albeit unknowingly. But, I had to admit to myself this wasn't my brightest moment. I had to have them on hand whenever I needed to use them but at the same time, I couldn't hide somewhere too far or inconvenient for me to get to them.

I grew complacent thinking my anonymity would keep me safe. But, in the end, I was almost taken advantage of by someone who I supposedly saved but turned out was trying to take advantage of me.

I mean she was a thief and even with the history she had with Batman that wouldn't keep me safe from her machinations. At most, she wouldn't try and harm me. But, apparently stealing was okay.

In the show, people went crazy over the talismans while not the most powerful compared to some of the stuff in this world, they were incredibly easy to use and their drawbacks boiled down to if you managed to keep them or not.

I could only imagine what someone like her would be able to do with the Talismans.

I had no doubt Batman would be able to track down his old flame down, it was only a matter of time.

" I hope you realize I do not plan on giving them up. I still plan to continue what I was doing and I'm not going to stop, because you found out my identity. " I declared.

Batman grunted in affirmation," I suspected you'd say something to that effect, but you're still a liability to yourself and everyone around you."

' Ouch '

" Then train me, or at least find me someone who is willing to do so. Someone who could teach me how to fight and how to best utilize my powers to help people. "

He stayed silent for the rest of the ride, and by the time we were coming to a stop near the hall of justice he spoke up. " I don't have time to personally train you but I can try and ask around if someone is willing to take you on as a sidekick. "

" I'm not making any promises though, this will heavily depend on whether there is someone willing to take you on as a protégé or at least train you. In the meantime, you're going to stay here until I determine it's safe. I don't want innocent people caught up in the crossfire if Falcone finds you." He continued.

I felt elated that I was finally going to get some professional training but I kept my face neutral." Then I guess we will just have to wait and see. "

The next few hours saw me settling into a room and making sure everything was sorted out. I had my card on me which had most of the money I had made until now. Which was about 40 thousand dollars. I made most of it selling stuff from my online store in the past few months, so for now money wouldn't be a problem.

With nothing better to do, I decided to take a stroll down the Hall of Justice. It was pretty cool since it had a museum with a bunch of trophies from old battles. I even saw a bunch of tourists taking pictures and getting led by a tour guide.

I decided to grab some food from the cafeteria and headed to the library. I found myself an interesting novel and settled in for a slow evening as I started reading.

A few hours later someone was shaking me awake from where I had obviously fell asleep. I woke up and wearily opened my eyes, and saw someone standing over me.

The first thing I noticed was sparkling green eyes boring into me. I blinked and as I examined the extremely attractive blonde wearing a tight black body suit and a short dark blue jacket I was broken out of my trance when she spoke.

With obvious mirth in her voice, she said,

" You know we have beds, right?"

I yawned, " Yeah, I know. This chair is so comfortable though, I couldn't help myself."

" I can see. So, you're Zodiac, huh?" She asked.

" That's me and you are?" I asked.

"Oh, where are my manners?" She said as she extended her hand. "I'm Black Canary."

"Nice to meet you, so if I'm not mistaken you were sent by Batman?" I asked.

She nodded, " He asked me if I had time to show you around and help you get acclimated."

I hummed, "That's oddly..."

"Unlike him? " She asked.

I gave her a nod, but she just shrugged.

"I know he comes off as a hard ass, but he mostly means well. I have to say though, he spoke highly of you. Not many heroes have the ability to heal and you did save a lot of people. Having said that, he still thinks we should do some tests to make sure your healing doesn't have any unforeseen side effects."

After hearing what she said, I could guess that since we were both orphans who lost our parents at a young age, and not to mention the fact I saved his life, Bruce probably saw himself in me.

"I don't mind doing that if it will give you guys some peace of mind." I said.

That seemed to be the right response as I was met by a beaming smile. " Great! Come. There's much to see and not a lot of time to do it." She declared.

After a quick tour through several facilities such as a gym, a med-lab, and several other things. I was promised that I would be meeting my mentor in a few days.

When I asked who it was going to be though, I was only met with silence and a faint smirk.
