Purpose #75

I finished extracting the bullet and stitched up the marine soldier's wound, sighing in relief as I inspected his vitals again and realized his condition was stable. "Someone take this guy back to his ship so he gets some rest..." I said, my voice tinged with exhaustion, as I raised my head and looked at the gathered marines.

Much to my frustration, every soldier I met eyes with looked away with a bitter expression, causing me to frown. I felt anger brewing inside me, and I was just about ready to snap when Garp's voice echoed in the plaza, cutting through the tense atmosphere.

"You heard the brat!" The vice admiral exclaimed, his voice commanding attention as he walked into the plaza, his expression dark. "Hurry up and get this guy back to the Red Port," he instructed, his tone brooking no argument. The marines instantly snapped to attention at his words and complied, moving with a newfound urgency to carry out their orders.

Garp watched two marines carefully pick up the wounded soldier, their movements swift yet gentle, and take him away for proper medical care. Once they were out of sight, Garp approached me, his usually easygoing demeanor replaced by a somber, grave tone.

"You wanted to know why I brought you here, brat... well, now you know..." Garp said, his voice low but filled with weight. He paused for a moment, as if choosing his words carefully, before continuing. "As marines, it is our duty to protect the weak and the helpless. And yet..." He trailed off, his gaze drifting toward the distant Domain of the Gods beyond Pangaea Castle, where the celestial dragons resided.

"Pirates aren't the only threat to the people..." Garp added, his voice tinged with a mix of frustration and resignation. He turned back to face me, his gaze piercing. "Sometimes we can only grit our teeth and watch from the sidelines... and that's the truth of our world," he said, his words heavy with the weight of experience and the limitations of his role.

But then, Garp's tone shifted, his voice laced with a hint of encouragement. "But as long as you continue to live and serve as a marine... you'll have the chance to help even more people," he emphasized, his words carrying a glimmer of hope. With that, he turned around and began to walk away from me.

"Never forget that, brat..." Garp's parting words echoed in my ears as I watched him retreat, leaving me standing in the plaza, lost in my thoughts.

As I watched Garp walk away, his words hit me hard. The weight of all the messed-up stuff happening in the world and the limitations of being a marine soldier weighed on me, stirring up a strong desire for change. I wasn't going to sit back and watch anymore, stuck within the boundaries of my position.

Standing in that plaza, lost in my thoughts, a rebellious feeling surged through me. The injured marine had been taken away, and things calmed down for a moment. But those damn celestial dragons were still there, a constant reminder of the messed-up situation that just transpired.

I started questioning myself. Was this really the life I wanted? I came to this world with memories of a different one, just hoping to explore and see cool things. I ended up joining the marines so I wouldn't be some outlaw. But is this what I signed up for? Hell no!

I didn't want to be a mindless drone, blindly following orders and dealing with jerks like Saint Charlos.

A fire ignited inside me. I made up my mind to keep serving as a marine for now, using whatever resources and opportunities I had to gather strength, knowledge, and allies.

But I wanted more than that. I craved to be a force to be reckoned with, someone who could take on the world government and those celestial dragons. It wasn't about being some hero for justice or equality. No, my motivations were more self-centered—I just didn't wanna be a sideline spectator anymore.

I had this intense urge to jump down in front of that piece of garbage Charlos, and knock him out with one punch. But I couldn't, and that pissed me off to no end. Still, I knew better than to act impulsively. I needed a smarter, more strategic approach.

I decided to dive deep into gathering information and teaming up with like-minded folks who also wanted change. The world was filled with different groups, each with their own agenda. I aimed to find those who were ready to challenge the status quo and create a new future.

Mindlessly following a corrupt system wouldn't lead me where I wanted to go. I had to plan my moves carefully, subtly undermining the system from within while pretending to play along. And of course, I had to keep training, improving my physical skills and sharpening my mind.

My mission became to constantly observe and analyze the celestial dragons and the world government for now. I would find their weak spots, uncover hidden truths, and slowly dismantle the corrupt system piece by piece. The world isn't fair, and I had no illusion of changing it. But at the very least, if someone pissed me off, I wanted to be able to break their faces, even if that someone happened to be a celestial dragon.

When the time was right, when I was at the peak of my strength with some powerful by my side, I would strike.

But until that day came, I would patiently keep walking my chosen path, fully aware that it would be tough and I'd have to make sacrifices along the way. The road ahead would be treacherous, but my determination burned bright. I had found my purpose, and I wouldn't stop until I made it happen.

The reverie meeting had ended, and the monarchs, accompanied by their trusted companions and advisors, gathered in the grand plaza of Pangaea Castle. The atmosphere was filled with relief and excitement as the leaders from various kingdoms took the opportunity to socialize and strengthen diplomatic ties.

Among the crowd, King Wapol of the Drum Kingdom spotted Princess Vivi, the eight-year-old daughter of King Nefertari Cobra of Alabasta, conversing with her own entourage. A malicious gleam sparkled in Wapol's eyes as he remembered the scolding he had received from Cobra during the meeting.

A wicked smile curled on Wapol's lips as he seized the chance to settle the score with his nemesis. He maneuvered his way through the crowd, his footsteps calculated and deliberate. His palm was stiff and wide, ready to strike a blow that would incite chaos between their kingdoms.

As Wapol approached Vivi, her attention still engaged in conversation, he prepared to deliver a resounding slap. "Ah! My hand slipped!" The obese king exclaimed, swinging his arm forward, aiming for Vivi's face, but his hand stopped mid-air before impact.

Luckily, Cedric had noticed Wapol's intentions and swiftly reacted as he remembered the incident from his past life. His firm grip intercepted the slap, preventing it from reaching its target.

"You hand slipped, eh?" The young marine loudly exclaimed, smiling as he looked down at Wapol. "Then it's fortunate I was here to catch it before it caused a diplomatic incident..." He exclaimed, his tone growing louder and cutting through the ambient chatter.

Wapol's face contorted with rage, his attempts to break free from Cedric's grasp proving futile. "Unhand me, you fool! This is between Cobra and me," he seethed, his voice laced with venom.

At Wapol's words, Cedric merely smiled, showing no intention of letting go, which only served to fuel the obese king's rage further. He gritted his teeth and raised his other hand, still intent on assaulting the young princess.

The young marine saw it coming and quickly caught his hand with a sigh and troubled expression. Still, Cedric said nothing as he turned to Vice Admiral Garp with a questioning look, and the latter merely shrugged.

"Ah... my head slipped..." Cedric said, stretching his neck back and burying his head into Wapol's nose, causing it to break with a sickening crunch of bones and a jet of blood as the obese king flew back and crashed into a pillar behind him.
