Chapter 59 slavery

With the battle now won, the spoils of war were only left to be plundered. Normally, that would be gold, money, or weaponry. But the kobolds had neither of these two, and the child didn't really care much for them.

So what these kobolds could offer him were their lives and bodies. Their bodies could be used for experimentation. After all, the Kobolds are still the most special race the child has ever seen. So he already had many ideas of how to expose those abilities or try to replicate them.

As for their lives, they could be of use to protect him until their end. After all, a dungeon doesn't always have the creatures who protect them be dungeon monsters.

In fact, when dungeons reach a higher level, it's mostly the people or monsters not created by the dungeon that properly protect the dungeon.

Although that is mainly because mortals take over dungeons and use them as their personal houses. The higher the level of the dungeon, the bigger it is, and the more people take notice and show interest.

But that is beside the point. And the main point is that practically anyone or anything can become a dungeon inhabitant as long as they are recognized by the dungeon itself and the other dungeon inhabitants as well.

"But since these kobolds don't really want to be dungeon inhabitants, that means I have to force them to it. So slavery is on. Plus, I can't have creatures I have no direct control over freely moving inside me. So a leash would really be necessary."

Well, a chain, to be exact. which the child started working on making. His plan was to finish all of it before the sun rose. Because if the Sun rises, the moon will then be gone. And if the moon is gone, then the wolves will turn back into kobolds. And since the kobold forms are smaller than the wolf forms, it is likely that they would then be free.

To prevent that from happening, he needs to chain every last one of them.

So before the sun set, the child made a few dog collars. All made of metal, of course. With some magical ingenuity here and there, a magical collar that uses a key was completely made. This collar was attached to a chain that extended towards the dungeon core. Where the child will hold on to these chains until the kobolds are more willing to obey.

Plus, the goblins were too short-staffed at that moment, so he could not trust them to handle the kobolds. And as one could remember, kobolds were still superior to both goblins and hobgoblins.

The goblins got to work and jumped down into the hole. There, they made the wolves that had their heads sticking out wear the collars.

The colors were tightened, and goblins then only had to wait for the full moon to disappear.

Which wasn't long. As soon as they could, all the wolves, or rather, all the kobolds, shrank down into their normal forms. By then, they were all chained up.

But it turned out the child was worrying too much. As the kobolds didn't have much energy to move once they were reformed. Which made sense. Transforming from one form to the next isn't as simple as it is made out to be in movies and animes.

In fact, if the kobolds didn't have such high regeneration, they would likely have died or exhausted their cells after two or three transformations.

So weakening a little after a major body change isn't so shocking.

But even if they were weakened, the child didn't let go of their chains; he instead brought them into his dungeon. where they not only fed them but nursed some of their wounds.

As the sun rose, fatigue was evident on every goblin's face. But even So, the child didn't order them to stop for two reasons.

One, he had to take out as much as he could of the magical cement. What he wanted to do was find some of the drowned kobolds. The likelihood of their death is basically 99%. But because of their special bodies, there could be a chance that some of them did survive.

It seemed that 1% was excluded for a reason, as not long after digging, a living kobold was found. It did fight back and even injured a goblin, but that was all it could do before being knocked out by the other goblins nearby. After all, being weakened and lacking oxygen is no joke.

Too bad that kobold was the only one found alive. These others were dead.

As for the second reason, it was, of course, safety. When the wolf alpha entered the fort, it blew away the gate. Now opening up for anything else to come in and possibly attack his weakened self. A third party could appear to reap all the benefits of his battle with the wolves, so the child had to be quick.

The child had thus reshaped the old gate and was ready to reinstall it. The problem is that the gate wasn't what broke, but the wall holding it up. So a lot of reconstruction was necessary.

Luckily, before the construction was finished, nothing really came in to take advantage of him. So the gate was completely reinstalled.

With the safety hazard out of the way, the child then ordered the goblins to rest.

Looking at these goblins, the child had a thought: "I need to get these guys a leader some day."

This was because, as time went on, it seemed to get harder to control them. Their emotions often get in he way of his orders. An when it gets tough, these goblins won't eveb listen to some thing that will save their lives. Yesterday was a good example. As when the wolf alpha was raging about, one of them could have easily stopped it by running to one of the archs. Luckily, one hobgoblin had listened to his orders. But what if if it did not?

The problem is that for a creature or person to completely listen to orders, it is not enough that they will be promised rewards. They must be promised a punishment in the event that they either fail or disregard the order. Only then can the goblins truly follow orders.

So the child thought that it would be a good idea to have a leader. Someone that they do not respect but fear. Someone who is the strongest and does not take no for an answer. Once that someone takes the lead, he would then order that someone.

And since a certain hobgoblin had shown its willingness to follow his orders, it wasn't so hard to find that someone.

"Speaking of rewards and punishments, I need to make an effective reward and punishment system for the kobolds."

After all, they too need to follow orders, and what better way than to use the old carrot with a stick method?

Anyway, I'm homeless now. Thankfully, I grabbed my phone before her serious punch landed on my face. Now I can only update using my small phones that has actual buttons.
